This elevated cottage is located on 1/2 acre at the end of quiet cul-de-sac, overlooking preservation lands. The property is beautifully landscaped with tropical vegetation and a manicured lawn. Secluded, yet close to restaurants and shopping and just a short drive to the beach, this house is in a most desirable location.
Newly redecorated with comfort and relaxation in mind, this cottage has a great floor plan, with two "master suites" separated by a large great room with vaulted ceilings, and a separate den with queen sized futon off the kitchen. The great room has triple sliding glass doors that open entirely onto the fully screened back porch that runs the entire length of the house. Both bedrooms have sliding glass doors that open onto the back porch as well. Fully screened front porch. Ceiling fans in every room.
Sanibel City limits rentals of property in residential areas to 28 day minimum (or one every 28 days) Rentals for less than 28 days will be considered for a premium.

Year Purchased: 2005
Janet and Steve live in downtown Fort Lauderdale on the New River. Janet owns Arrow Discovery Travel and Steve is a VP for a maritime satellite communications company. We love to travel, explore and discover new destinations around the world. To balance the city life of Fort Lauderdale, we head over to our vacation home in Sanibel to revel in the peace and quiet and do some gardening and biking.
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
Sanibel is truly a unique seaside experience. Nature trumps development here, where 2/3 of the island is set aside as nature/wildlife preserve. There are no high-rise condos or hotels and gulf front development is set back far enough to allow a natural seaside experience. The community is laid back, eco-conscious and tight knit, providing plenty of activities for all ages. Janet lived and worked on Sanibel for a year and Steve has vacationed there for many years. It is only 2.5 hours from Fort Lauderdale and is one of the few natural beaches left in the US.

Our vacation home has a fabulous location - at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, overlooking preservation lands, just blocks from grocery, shopping and dining. Our tiny 8 home community has a private pool and tennis court and the bike path runs right by the end of our road. From both the front and back screened in porches you can revel in the peace and quiet, enjoy the tropical view and look for rare birds and wildlife, and just 1.5 miles from either Gulf Park or Tarpon Beach. It is perfect for a seasonal rental.
