There are numerous activities to enjoy, including fishing, shelling, kayaking, boating, golfing. The Museum of Coastal Carolina is located on the island and offers natural history exhibits and animal programs suitable to all ages. Free children programs are also offered. The average temperature May through August is 86 degrees. The island is located in the southeast corner of the coast of North Carolina, centrally located between Myrtle Beach, SC and Wilmington NC, each city just 45 minutes away.
