Stop looking, you have found it! Welcome to your beautiful mountain home on 7 acres of secluded privacy. Surrounded by quaking aspens, your home goes virtually unnoticed from the road providing you with plenty of peace and quiet. You are only minutes away from downtown Fairplay, CO, the grocery store, gas stations, restaurants and Front Street where many summer activities take place.
You will enjoy 3200 sq ft of vaulted ceilings with a two car garage. Four bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a large, fully stocked kitchen, Great Room, Rec Room with foosball table, two gas fireplaces, a gas woodstove, and baseboard heating provide you with space and comfort. Relax outside in the evening around a gas fire pit eating smores and marshmallows. Don't confuse this for a cabin. There is plenty of room for two families to vacation together.
If you like hiking, you have found a paradise. Walk just 1/4 mile to the north and you enter Pike National Forest full of wildlife, trails and breathtaking views. For the serious hiker, plan an early morning ascent of Mt. Silverheels (Elev 13,882) and be back in time to enjoy a quiet afternoon nap on the deck. Looking for a whitewater adventure? Drive 35 miles to Buena Vista and sign up for a half or full day rafting trip through picturesque Browns Canyon on the Arkansas River.
Six world class ski resorts are all within a short drive: Breckenridge (23 miles), Keystone (35 Miles), Copper Mountain (38 Miles), A-Basin (41 Miles), Vail (57 Miles), Beaver Creek (66 Miles). Spend your day on the mountain in knee deep powder and then take in the local scene for some fun and frivolity. Fill your senses with good food and good people wherever you go. As an alternative, order a pizza ahead of time from Pattiās Pizzeria in Alma and pick it up on your way home. A slice and a beer followed by a hot shower is a relaxing way to end the day.
A stocked trout pond is a short walk or drive down the road for the kids. They can spend some quality time with Mom & Dad learning to bait a hook or calling out cloud formations rolling by in the blue sky above. Gold medal fly fishing is 30 minutes away on "the Dream Stream" between Spinney and Eleven Mile reservoirs. Numerous lakes and reservoirs are but a short drive for more recreational opportunities. Want to feel like a pro golfer? Find a mountain golf course and hit a drive 300+ yards at 10,000 feet! Ride a horse, go bowling, take a walk or a run, go mountain biking; the options are endless from your home.

Why the Owner Chose Fairplay
We purchased this home for a number of reasons. It is within 66 miles of 6 major ski areas and our families are heavy skiers; Breckenridge, Keystone, A-Basin and Copper Mountain, Vail and Beaver Creek. It is within walking distance to thousands of acres of Pike National Forest with Mt. Silverheels (13,822 ft) visible from the master bedroom. The neighborhood has a stocked trout pond and gold medal trout fishing is abundant in the immediate area. Fairplay is 2 miles away and offers an active summer season full of music, art and special events. Breckenridge is 30 minutes away and has even more to offer in the way of music, arts, special events, restaurants and of course, winter skiing! The house is very secluded, quiet and peaceful all year.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Peace and quiet! Seldom will you hear another neighbor or car. The large deck off the front of the house is great for sipping morning coffee or relaxing with an evening drink in the summer. Winter evenings are cozy, warm and without the distractions of everyday life. Relax by the fireplace, enjoy your favorite beverage, read a book, work on a jigsaw puzzle or listen to the radio. You will enjoy being inside and outside! The spaciousness of the house and property afford two families the opportunity to vacation together without feeling cramped. Summer time in the mountains is often overshadowed by ski season. Don't be fooled! The summer is every bit as active and the 70+ degree days and cool mountain nights are a great escape from the heat.
Owner's Map of Fairplay
After moving to Colorado in 1995 from Western New York, we discovered all the mountains had to offer and spent many weekends enjoying the various activities year round. We enjoy skiing, hiking, fishing, hunting and generally being outdoors. It doesn't matter if it is Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter, there is always something new and interesting to do. Our families are partners in business and partners in this mountain home. We each have three kids and they all love spending time here.

Betsy, Just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the Fairplay house. It was absolutely perfect for us and everything the website said and more - totally well-stocked and comfortable beyond words. We all had such a great time, despite what you locals said was "bad skiing" weather and/or lack of snow. We all said how lovely the Fairplay setting would be in summer, so...ya never know!! Take care, Catherine (and Scott) p.s. Please pass on this feedback to Pat about the house, though I'm sure he already knows. He was excellent to work with....

This property is true to it's description. The owner's Pat and Jim were great to work with and very professional. I would recommend this to others that like some seclusion, but also the amenties of a nearby town. I would definitely rent this property in the future.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

This was the most amazing place to stay when we visited Colorado. The house was even better than the pictures. You are so secluded and nestled in a forest type area. I just can't imagine a better place that we could have stayed. We had 6 adults and 2 kids and we felt right at home and yet enough room to roam and play without being in each others way. There isn't anything that I would change about the home and our stay. My girls even wanted to stay in Colorado longer. Jim and Pat and their families were the best and made you feel so welcomed in their home. I wish we could visit more often now.
Owner response:One of the questions we often have is if our property is on the side of a mountain. It is not! Our property is generally flat and surrounded by aspen trees with a small hill behind the house. We do not have any neighbors on three sides of the property. The aspens provide privacy and are a great place for kids to play.

Dear Jim and Pat. Thank you so much for all of the help you provided us. From the first discussion of renting your beautiful home you both have been such a delight to work with. Our family had a wonderful Christmas in your home. In fact, it was probably our favorite family trip. We would love to come back during trout season :) Take care and have a wonderful New Year. The Noble Family.

This mountain house was beautiful beyond expectations. The Photos don't do the house and land justice. From the moment we pulled in the drive until we walked through the entire house we were repeatedly saying "Wow!" I remember saying I almost hate to leave the house during the week because it's so nice. The house is spacious, beautifully decorated, and completely furnished. The house was in immaculate condition. The fully equipped kitchen made it easy to cook all of our meals. Pat called and checked on us during the week. You can't see another house from the deck or driveway; the property is encompassed with aspen trees. The kids played throughout the day exploring the acres of trees and playing in the existing "forts" and building their own; for that reason alone we plan on coming back next year. Most mornings we enjoyed coffee watching hummingbirds and Stellar Jays from the deck. Pike National forest is a short walk away from the house and I enjoyed running on the trails. There's trout fishing in just about every direction and Breckenridge is a short drive for lots of activities. We really enjoyed the fire pit. The kids roasted marshmallows and made smores as we watched a meteor shower our last night. We really hated to leave and return to the Texas heat but we are already looking forward to coming back next year. We have stayed at 3 other mountain properties and this one is far above the rest.

Jim and Pat were so friendly during the entire rental process! We were thrilled with the house and property. It was very clean and well stocked! There wasn't a single thing we needed that we didn't find available for us to use. My niece and daughter loved the bunk-beds, something they don't have at home. The kids had a great time in the woods-my son insists a sasquatch must have built the various shelters he came upon! Thanks for opening it up to us-we feel we got a value and our money's worth!

This mountain home was excellent! Everything was well stocked! Everthing was very clean & well maintained. The owners even called the second day to see if we needed anything. It is a good location, with Fairplay (with a grocery store) only about 2 mi. away. Breckenridge, with lots to do, about 30 min. away. The home is in a valley with flat land around it, so there is plenty of room for kids to play outside. This is the 4th mountain home that we have rented over the last 6 years, & it is by far the best!!! We would highly recommend it to anyone!

Pat and Jim, Thank you so much for letting us stay at the house on Silverheels. We had a WONDERFUL time. Wow- what an incredible house and property! It was so nice to let my children run free and play in the woods. We had a great time building a campfire and making smores. Enjoy the rest of your summer- hope you get back to the house many times. Hopefully you will let us share it again. Thanks again!

We have been to a few vacation rentals over the years, but this has been one of our favorites. We were impressed at how well stocked everything was! (The bathrooms, kitchen, pantry, children's toys, etc.) It was a great home to accommodate nine adults and six kids. Thank you!
