Marshall cottage description

Envelop yourself with natural beauty and ever-changing light and water.
Our beach cottage is perfect whether you desire a romantic getaway, a fun family vacation, or respite from your busy life.
Bleu Bay Beach Cottage has its own private sandy beach on Bleu Bay Cove, a private getaway gem on the shores of pristine Tomales Bay.
Through many windows in every room of our house, or from our deck and hot tub or our beach, witness incredible sunsets, water views, sea & shore life.
Fall asleep to the sound of gentle waves lapping on our beach. Luxuriate in the 6-person hot tub. Snuggle up next to a cozy fire in the brick surrounded fireplace. Stay in touch through powerful wireless internet, relax with music, watch tapes on TV or bring your favorite DVDs. Cherish a romantic evening, or read an adventure to your children. Create a life-long memory here.
Awake in the comfy queen bed in our private upstairs bedroom to a spectacular view of the bay. The cottage sleeps 4 more in double-sized fold-out couches in the living and sun-rooms. There is one bathroom with a shower/tub combo and spacious countertop with double sinks. Prepare meals in our fully-equipped kitchen stocked with numerous appliances, pots, pans, gas stove & dinnerware.
You’ll love the restaurants, bars, shops, galleries, grocery stores and bakeries in nearby historic Point Reyes Station, Olema, and Inverness.
Popular Nick’s Cove Restaurant is just a mile north. Visit famous Hog Island Oyster Company for local oysters, 2.2 miles south. Local favorite Tony’s Seafood is 3 miles south. 10 minutes north is the town of Tomales with a great deli restaurant and the best bakery in the universe. Dillon Beach and Bodega Bay are a short drive beyond that.
Enjoy enzyme baths and massage at Osmosis (25 minutes). Tour wineries nearby and in Napa or Sonoma Valleys (1 hour). Raft the Russian River (40 minutes). Explore many world-class beaches and coast attractions. Feast and tour locally, in San Francisco or Berkeley, only a little over one hour away and innumerable Bay Area delights.
Launch a kayak or canoe from our sandy beach on the on the cove. Rent kayaks just down the road in Marshall. Otters, seals and sea lions swim, frolic and tend to their daily business. Bleu Bay Cove is permanent home to Great Blue Heron, Snowy White Egret and flocks of other waterfowl and shorebird species. Use our high powered scope or binoculars to magnify your view.
Across the bay a short drive away is famous Point Reyes National Seashore with its award-winning visitor center, great hiking & biking trails where you might see roaming herds of albino deer and Thule elk, an ancient forest, and a real earthquake fault. Bald eagles nest here. Stroll on miles of white sandy beaches where you can observe marine mammals, dolphins, and breaching whales. Explore the tide pools teeming with sea life.
We’re just over an hour from the Golden Gate Bridge, but a world away. A unique vacation spot you’ll long remember. Reward yourself.

Manager’s note:
I’m pleased to help make your stay at owner Tom Flynn’s beach cottage as perfect as possible.
It’s a privilege to work with a man of Tom’s caliber who is well-known as a visionary environmental manager, advisor, consultant, environmental engineer, and preservationist in California’s professional environmental culture, as well as at the CA Coastal Commission and NOAA (National Oceanic and Aeronautic Administration).
Tom’s many years of work to eliminate potential for pollution in Tomales Bay has won accolades throughout Marin and Sonoma Counties. Tom has substantially assured the adjective “pristine,” as in “pristine Tomales Bay”. Tom’s leadership to preserve several hundred acres of environmentally sensitive and scenic areas near the edge of Tomales Bay and nearby King Mountain is impressive and inspirational. He is known for results, which provide community, economic, and environmental benefits. This caring and attention to detail is reflected in his beach cottage.

                      Car: Necessary

There is great beach walking and hiking all over the surrounding area including the remarkable Pt. Reyes National Seashore, but a very local tip: hiking is just a few hundred feet away up a very quiet country road (virtually no cars) through the Straus Creamery pasture lands (the first organic dairy west of the Mississippi). You can walk all the way to the top of the local beautiful hills. At the top of this road you can enjoy expansive views of Tomales Bay and Point Reyes Peninsula.

Also about 4 miles South, the Marconi Conference Center (a California Parks Foundation Facility), is a nice place to hike around and take in historical information and beautiful views. Marconi, as you may know, did the first trans-Pacific radio transmissions from this location.
