Healdsburg Bliss House is a noted unofficial hillside landmark. This comfortable ranch style home is high up on a ridge above the stunningly gorgeous Dry Creek Wine Valley. Just 1.5 miles from downtown Healdsburg, the home is a blissfully peaceful escape surrounded by 80 acres of lush vineyards. The 100 ft deck and expansive windows provide endless opportunities to take in the literally 100 mile-180 degree views of vineyards, forests, mountains, big skies and florid sunsets.

Watch the hot air balloons rise to the south or the plumes of steam from The Geysers in the surrounding northeast mountains. Bring binoculars and check out the myriad of birds swooping by. Sunbathe or read on the deck, BBQ while sipping wine and taking in the views. An outdoor dining table for 6 is a commanding location from which to dine and leisurely watch the sunset. The master suite opens to the deck and the spacious kitchen/dining/family great room has views as does the generous living room with rock hearth.

This truly unique location is up a 1/4 mile shared gravel drive which is in good condition and suitable for all types of cars. The property is not fenced and adjoins neighboring vineyard property and as such is not suitable for small children.

The setting backs up against rural wilderness area and thus is plush with wildlife...wild turkeys, deer, raccoons, wild pigs, etc. are all a part of the close to town but country lifestyle. As tempting as it may be, we encourage our guests-for their own safety to observe and enjoy the wildlife from a distance.

Bring the camera and the binoculars and no matter what season-warm outerwear as evenings can be cool. If guests are planning to walk, bring sturdy shoes. Plan to walk to the bottom of the hill to the neighboring and quite lovely winery - Everett Ridge.

The Weather from April through August, most afternoons are pretty and bright with breezes. Mornings and nights are usually cool and sometimes the early morning fog comes in to kiss the grapes. Temperatures can range 30-40 degrees in a 24 hour period. September and October is almost always warm and there is less early morning mist or fog. However, there are exceptions...so don't forget the pullover or wrap. Even in winter, when we get the rains that make this such a lovely place...there are many many break through days with crisp sunshine. Rates Require county tourism tax of 9%. A $300 refundable security deposit required.

Holiday and events weekends are at $400/night with a 2 night minimum. This includes Thanksgiving / Christmas / New Year's / Valentine's-President's Day weekend/ Winter Wineland / Barrel Tasting.

Cleaning fee $175 is a turnaround fee. No maid service during stay. Guests are required to leave kitchen clean and garbage bagged and secured.

Maximum 6 guests. No exceptions please.

Why the Owner Chose Healdsburg

The property was inherited from my father and was part of the property where I was raised and grew up. The view is great, the people are nice and the town is small and has a certain charm.

The Unique Benefits at this House

The tremendous view of the Dry Creek Valley, of Healdsburg, Fitch Mountain, the vineyards, Mt St. Helena, the birds (hawks, wild turkeys, crows, etc.), walking the trails in the hills, farmers market on Saturdays, Cultural events in the Square, wine tasting, etc.

Owner's Map of Healdsburg

We are both are native Californians and retired teachers. My wife was born in Healdsburg and raised on the property before it was split into the winery and the vineyard properties.

Bliss House Healdsburg

The pictures don't do this house justice! It was perfect! Quiet, comfortable, and a perfect location for visiting wineries and downtown Healdsburg. And the views from the porch were amazing! We would definitely rent the house again.

This house was wonderful, and that beautiful view just gets better through the morning and evening. Just a few minutes from town, but quiet and secluded, everything about it was convenient, well equipped and comfortable. The rooms and closets are spacious and the house is tastefully decorated, including the patio, which is delightful for dining or lounging. The owner provided awesome customer services, with fast and well explained answers to all our inquiries. We loved it, and would recommend it to family and friends.

Fireworks and Sunrise

Guest: Michael C.
Date of Stay: 07/02/11 Review Submitted: 07/31/11

My wife and I stayed at Bliss House the week of July 4 this year and had a wonderful time. The town of Healdsburg had a fireworks display the evening of the fourth and from our east-facing porch we felt like the fireworks display was just for our enjoyment! The house was well stocked with all necessities for a comfortable stay. It is conveniently located up the hill overlooking Dry Creek Valley and the town of Healdsburg to the east. The house is situated amongst vinyards and has wonderful views for sunrise. The photographs of the house were very accurate but the views from the porch did not do justice to the actual views. We truly loved living at the Bliss House for a week and would certainly consider returning in the future.

Breathtaking views - a perfect wine country escape!

Date of Stay: 05/27/11 Review Submitted: 06/06/11

My wife and I rented out the Bliss House with two other couples over the Memorial Day weekend and we couldn't have been happier with our choice! The owner Jim was very nice and we found the home to be exactly as pictured on-line... only the views were more spectacular! Set back from the road about 5 minutes from downtown Healdsburg, you enter the grounds through a private drive that meanders peacefully up a hill. There are vineyards lining the left side of the driveway and a cluster of woods to your right. A moment later the house comes into view as you round a bend. It is set among vineyards and the only other building within view is a small winery located at the base of the hill. And although you are only a few minutes drive from downtown, you may as well be a world away. The house is well appointed and the layout allows plenty of room as well as privacy for six adults. The front deck was a favorite place to hang out (again, the views are incredible!) and we used the gas grill and took advantage of the outdoor dining table which allows seating for up to six. If you're not into formal dining, there's also a couple of cushioned chairs and a couch to stretch out on, which we did many nights after dinner. On chilly nights, we wrapped up in one of the many afghans we found inside. Afterward, we would retreat indoors to sip wine and talk in front of the beautiful fireplace, which we used every night. The master bedroom faces east, so if you're lucky enough to score this room be aware the sunshine is very bright, very early. (But it is so worth it!) The kitchen is equipped with all the necessary appliances, utensils and dishware, (including wine glasses!) There are even binoculars available to check out the views. The linens were clean and fresh, there was a hair dryer in each bathroom and an iron and ironing board in the utility room. I would highly recommend this home to anyone wants to get away for a little peace and quiet in wine country, yet still be close enough to town and local attractions. We plan to rent it again!

Best of Sonoma

Guest: Pat (Larkspur, CA)
Date of Stay: 05/13/11 Review Submitted: 05/22/11

Bliss House was the perfect setting for my Birthday Celebration that included guests from San Francisco to Australia! Top of my list was privacy and views amid the vineyards, a big kitchen and deck, and a close proximity to Healdsburg - all requirements were met beyond my expectations and the listing description was 100% accurate. We enjoyed cooking and sharing meals in the spacious kitchen/dining area and continuing our conversations by the fire. The owners were very responsive and arrangements were finalized with ease. The property is very well appointed and maintained. I have already recommended it to friends who will be staying in Sonoma for an upcoming wedding.

Better than you can imagine

When you pull through the gate, make your way up the long driveway and first realize that the beautiful house in the middle of the vineyard is actually the house you rented, you'll think it's too good to be true. The views from the porch overlooking the surrounding vineyard and pretty much the entire town of Healdsburg could keep you occupied your entire stay. Perfect house. Can't wait to (hopefully) rent it again.

Great getaway

Guest: Tiffany S. (San Francisco, CA)
Date of Stay: 03/04/11 Review Submitted: 03/07/11

Spent a great weekend here celebrating my dad's 65th birthday. The property is just a short 5 minute drive from downtown Healdsburg but is situated up in the hills among vineyards giving it a very secluded feel and great views. The furnishings are homey and well kept. We stayed in winter but I imagine the place is even better in the summer when you can make more use of the deck. The three bedrooms and two and half baths slept 5 of us very comfortably and more could easily stay. Jim was helpful and made the check in/out process very easy. Would stay again.
