Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
I am a native of Maine, but love the mountains of Colorado. I have lived in the Basalt area for five years and find it has the best of all worlds. I always want my connection to this part of the world!
Why the Owner Chose Basalt
Basalt Colorado is a year round vacation destination. In the Winter there's access to world class skiing just 20 minutes away at Aspen Snowmass. In the Summer, world class fly fishing, road biking, hiking and golfing are moments away. I want to make sure that for the rest of my life I have access to this magical place. Aspen is just down the road with all its cultural events, yet Basalt offers a quaint, quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle. The town is nestled between two rivers and has a rich and well maintained history. The downtown area (just outside your door) is as picturesque as it gets. The town has galleries, fine and casual dining, shops and a vibrant community life. Summers bring live free music in the park and an amazing farmers' market.
The Unique Benefits of this Condominium
The property itself is charming. This end unit is quiet and spacious with a large private deck for entertaining or just for a sunny breakfast or casual cookout. If you decide to stay in, the flat screen and surround sound entertainment system is perfect. But if you are an outdoor enthusiast, this is the place to be. Road bikers congregate at the coffee shop next door before and after their rides to neighboring carbondale or up to Reudi Reservoir. The Fly Fishing shop just down the street is busy all summer setting up guided trips which are fun and worth trying at least once. Hiking trails abound, there are multiple golf courses nearby or just walk the town to shop. Winter mornings listen to the local programming to know what to wear skiing that day. Powder is more frequent than not and the temperature is easy on the thin blooded. No matter what your level, you'll find your perfect mountain (you have four to choose from!). For the more romantic, take a sleigh ride up to The Pine Creek Cookhouse. For diners, the location cannot be beat. Walk to one of the many great restaurants in town and walk home. Never a worry if you've had a bit much too wine!
