Our Dreamy Month At Sandy Daze!

From the moment we entered "Sandy Daze" we felt at home.  The home was clean and beautifully furnished for comfort.  Everywhere we looked were artifacts and decor artistically arranged and intriguing to view.  We gleefully explored the gift basket and enjoyed the welcome note.  Chanel, my French Bulldog, figured out the fire hydrant dog treat dispenser was meant for her. She wasn't too pleased at the dog shampoos and towels, but we humans appreciated them. We enjoyed daily walks and bike rides on the beach, spending endless hours exploring what the ocean had washed up the night before. Jim kayaked in the Bay and on the Gulf, and fished in the Gulf.  He's bragging to everyone about his cooking skills on the Green Egg which produced very tasty meals. Evenings were spent anticipating the glorious sunsets, and later relaxing on the comfy sofa and chairs, reading or watching TV.   We visited the parks, forests, and towns.  The "Patsy Cline" show at the Dixie Theater in Apalachicola,  which I learned was started by the first Production Manager at our local Guthrie Theater, Rex Partington.   Nice to have that local connection.  We went to a museum in Carabelle, which had been a training area for D-Day in WWII, the famous amphibian invasion we've all seen photos of. The first black squadron  of pilots was also trained there, and the movie "Red Tails" is based on them. The highlight was the river ride in the Wakulla Springs, about a 2 hour drive away. We were 2 of 7 people on pristine river, viewing manatees, alligators, and hundreds of ducks and birds in the clear waters among ageless cypress trees.   Local dining at Indian Pass Raw Oyster Bar, Jo Mama's, Sunset Coastal Grill, Baileys Crab House were exceptionally tasty. When you think “rental” your mind doesn’t go to “a place like home”. But Todd and Hillary have opened their lovely beach home to the rest of us, and we were blessed. My son, daughter-in-law, 2 grandchildren and I spent a wonderful week here. It was the first time ever, that we were also able to bring our pups. A “whole” family vacation! We had awesome times together on the beach, playing games, cooking, and eating out. We also had plenty of space to get by ourselves for quiet times if we wanted to. I know everyone talks about the “Big Green Egg”, but I was so excited that I had a beach lounge chair w/ a wonderful thick pad and the wagon/cart to carry everything in it to the beach. We enjoyed exceptional seafood @ “Dockside” and the best oysters EVER , twice, in Apalachicola @ “Papa Joe’s! The house is everything that all the previous reviews talk about, but I think the exceptional thing is how it molds and shapes itself to fulfill each families hopes and desires. It gives rest and peace and relaxation, and that only comes from the consideration and thoughtfulness of our hosts. Thanks Todd and Hillary! (and thank you ever so much for that little added something) :) By the end of the week, we were all talking about “the next time” we get to come down.

My husband and I had a very relaxing stay in September. We practically had the beach to ourselves, the temperatures were perfect, and the Sandy Daze had everything we could need. Hillary has really thought of every possible need or want in supplying the house. The property is comfortable and relaxed, decorated in a delightful blend of beach and shabby chic, and is a great location. Area restaurants and shops were open and pleasantly mellow at this season. We have visited the "forgotten coast" several times over the years, and this was one of our best trips yet. Our GPS did not recognize the address to the property and Todd guided us in on a Sunday afternoon. Thanks for being gracious hosts.

The home was amazing. The pictures do it no justice. It is very spacious and big. It is also fully stocked with everything besides food and beverages. The owners are also very helpful and nice, you can tell they really care about the house and keeping their guests comfortable and happy. I would definately reccommend this house to people and would definately come back.

We had such a wonderful time at this awesome beach vacation home. Every detail has been thought of. Every convenience and amenity was provided at Sandy Daze Beach house. The listing description was very accurate and the house looked just as great as the pictures did. It was very clean and we found everything we needed at the house. The beach cart was so awesome to use and we loved the beach in this part of Florida. Very quiet, safe and relaxing. The state park at the end of the Cape was very beautiful too. Convenient location to Port St. Joe. Not too far down the Cape Dunes Road so getting to and from town and the grocery store was not far at all. We will hopefully be making this a yearly vacation for our family. We so enjoyed our stay and could not have asked for anything more. The owners truly have the gift of hospitality and truly have a beautiful vacation home at this beautiful vacation destination! Can't wait till next summer!

Perfect Family Vacation!

This was our first time to the Cape and we definately plan to return! For such a laid back place, there are so many things to do! Our experience at Sandy Daze was absolutely wonderful! Hillary and Todd were so easy to work with. They go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need and then some! It was truly like being at home! We enjoyed cooking our freshly harvested scallops on The Big Green Egg-simply delicious! The location was perfect- Just a short drive to Port St. Joe and only about 25 miles to Appalachicola-which is a quaint little town to spend a cloudy afternoon in! I have never seen a beach with so few people-it was so quiet and relaxing! The kids were thrilled to be able to carry our Westie on vacation with us. He loved the beach and I think even he was sad when it came time to leave! All in all, this was one of the BEST vacations our family has ever taken! We are already looking forward to our next trip to the "forgotten coast". Thank you Hillary & Todd for sharing your beautiful home!

Wonderful family vacation!

We could not have asked for a more clean, comfortable, well stocked beach house. It was like being at our own home! There were tons of linens and towels (beach, bath and pet), little travel size bottles of anything you can imagine needing, lots of DVDs, Cds and books. The kayaks were a great addition--and used every day. We have previously vacationed in Seaside, but wanted a change of pace. We were so happy we chose the cape. So relaxing, laid back and quiet! Our kids are 17, 14 and 8 and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely including our two dogs who were free to enjoy the surf all day. I would definitely recommend Sandy Daze. The owners are so thoughtful and helpful in providing everything you could need to have a fabulous vacation.

Oh, Sandy Daze...how I wasn't ready to come home! Hillary, your attention to detail is mind boggling. We were finding new little touches up to the minute we left. The house slept our party of 4 adults and 5 kids (ages 10-16) more than comfortably. There are 2 boardwalks leading to the beach and they are right in front of the house. It is a very short walk and the beach cart provided makes hauling everything down a breeze. We left everything there for the entire week and no one touched anything. The beach is magnificent and not populated at all, there were many times we were the only ones on the beach. The water on this side of the cape is not as rough, which meant we worried very little about the kids' safety. They were out very far and it still only reached their chests. The last day we were there, tons of dolphins decided to play with us in the water for several hours, it was an amazing experience! Hillary and Todd provide everything you can imagine. There are plenty of beach chairs in all varieties, towels, etc. and we put the skim boards and boogie boards to good use! The kitchen is well stocked with every kind of pan/utensil you could possibly need. Chasing the crabs on the beach at night was great fun for the kids and was even fun for us screaming females! :) We took a horseback ride with TwoBit stables, it's something we will never forget. Make sure you check out Salinas park (both sides), it's a very beautiful park and is right next door. There's also a little park in town, right before you head to the cape that's great for seeing small creatures in the bay water. The kids loved playing with the hermit crabs and were surprised by a very large horseshoe crab and baby that went swimming by. You can't miss the park, there's a pier with a small pavilion at the end. We stayed near the pavilion, by the rocks. This is also a good place to put in the kayaks. If you take the kayaks out, regulation states you MUST have on a life vest and a whistle, we were unaware of this. For safety purposes, we didn't even consider this in 2 feet of clear water, but were issued a warning by the Sheriff. If you plan a trip to the lighthouse, I would go sometime after 3pm (the lighthouse closes at 5pm) so you can walk along the beautiful beach there. Any earlier in the day, there isn't much of a beach to walk. Dave's Grab N' Go, Scallop Cove and the Piggly Wiggly were all 3 VERY reasonably priced. Can't wait to come back next year! My two sisters and I totally enjoyed your beautiful home during our week long stay at Sandy Daze. The house is amazing and has anything you could think of. It is exactly as you see in the pictures! The beach was beautiful and the weather wonderful until our last day when it rained all day. The only downside (for us, since we are all in our 50's and not terribly small) was the long trek to the beach through the sand and over the dune carrying chairs, coolers and such. A little harder on us than younger more fit renters! We got to see dolphins in the gulf, a first for us! We enjoyed the bay at the State Park with my grandson and daughters! We went to lots of shops in Apalachicola and Port St. Joe and sampled many of the local restaurants. Hillary responded immediately when I contacted her about a very small issue. Wonderful experience overall and would recommend to my friends!

Seclusion, serenity and seafood

What a great week we and our long distance friends had coming together at Sandy Daze! We found out soon after arriving that we had no cell phone service (Verizon) which meant that we had a perfect excuse not to take calls (we're self employed)! We could check messages in Port St. Joe. There were no wild parties or loud neighbors so we really enjoyed sitting inside or out to relax and read a book. Someone actually entertained us with a showcase of fireworks from the beach one evening! And the takeout food at Sunset Grill in Port St. Joe was unbelievably good! Kaspar did get to drink his water with us at the Thirsty Goat and was treated as one of the family. What priceless fellowship with our friends and Kaspar (who had never been allowed to go on the beach and actually got to break the waves.! Hillary, you truly have the gift of hospitality!

I had never used VRBO before was a little leary. However, our experience with Hillary was perfect. The place is all that everyone says it is. It is a super comfortable house that has everything you need for a great vacation. Hillary thinks of everything. We LOVED the green egg & are going to have to start an "egg fund". The beach was peaceful & our golden doodle had as much fun as we did. He even met another one & they played chase.

You know that sinking, worry feeling you get when you leave your house for vacation; that you have left something behind....don't worry - you didn't when you come here. It has absolutely everything you will need. Very clean, anything you could possibly need, from kitchen to bath to beach. It's all here, plus much more! The oyster garden is amazing (the theme runs thru the house) , pictures do not do the house justice. It's huge & spacious, kids will love it - movies, games plenty to do indoors. We took 2 days just to watch the dvd library. Dolphin watching, crabbing from the beach everyday - horseback riding - amazing! Great place to stay - wonderful, gracious hosts! Julie & Max

Words cannot express what a wonderful vacation we had. The beach house is absolutely beautiful! The Timmons have thought of even the smallest details. I dread traveling with my one year old because normally there aren't accommodations. The Timmons have even thought of this too! There was a full size crib, playpen, highchair, baby gate, and first aid kit. Home away from home! We used the screened in porch and the "green egg" every night! Thank you for opening up your home.

One Perfect Week

We made the arrangements with Hillary and a couple of weeks later we were there. It was like walking into our own home. Everything was provided, just like all the reviews say. Our dog (a Portuguese Water Dog) ran and ran on the beach, which was practically deserted. The weather was sunny and 70 for the whole week. Usually there are fatal flaws in a rental. Not here: DVD's, books, beach towels, treats for the dog, comfortanle beds, comfortable furniture, anything you can think of. Thamks for a perfect week.

A perfect beginning to the new year

We are home, regretfully, from a fabulous new year's getaway. No more peace and quiet, no more secluded beach (except for new year's eve, where everyone came to see our awesome fire pit and bonfire), no more awesome movie and CD collection, no more Big Green Egg -- away from the perfect home away from home. Our combined families of 10, with six kids ranging from 1 to 16, had everything we needed in Sandy Daze and the Cape. Kudos to the Timmonses for their taste, style and the personal touches (they provided us with a welcome basket that included, among other things, a bottle of wine and a kit to make marshmallow smores. From the kitchenware to the beach equipment to the excellent wi-fi connectivity to the crib for the baby, the Timmonses managed to think of everything. Even the neighbors were delightful. We are on a tight budget and certainly don't live large, and found Sandy Daze to be well worth the price. We hope to be back!

Best Beach Getaway Ever!

Sunny Daze is most definitely the best beach rental I have ever experienced. The owners were wonderful to work with and have thought of everything to make your beach experience the best it can be. The pictures are great but truly do not portray this home adequately. It is beautifully furnished and meticulously maintained. Every amenity you could desire is there. The beach is beautiful--you can walk forever and often have the entire expanse to yourself. My dog and I did a lot of walking! The Big Green Egg was everything I had heard it would be. We grilled shrimp, grouper, and salmon as well as the most phenomenal smoked turkey breast for Thanksgiving! I am looking forward to having my own Egg one day. The home was so great that we only left it once during our stay. We went to Apalachicola where we did some shopping and had lunch, a neat little town, very historic and artsy. I would recommend Sunny Daze to my friends and relatives with no hesitation. Thank you Hillary and Tom for allowing me and my family to have one of the best holiday beach experiences we have ever had. Toby, Bo-Bo, and Annabelle loved it too and can't wait to go back. Annabelle is quite a swimmer! She also enjoyed her drying-out time on the screened porch and meeting new friends. Thanks for everything.

Loved our weekend at Sandy Daze!

The Cape is our new favorite place to visit and relax in Florida. Sandy Daze was an outstanding rental. The owners have gone out of their way to this rental feel like home. We loved all the special extras and touches that the family provide to make your vacation enjoyable. The decks are amazing and the neighborhood is very peaceful. Many times, we were the only people on the beach so we could let our dogs run and play. The Green Egg is an awesome grill! Watch the dvd and whatever you make will turn out perfectly. We loved all the amenties for the dogs and for us! The owners even left us a wonderful gift basket when we checked in. The house is perfect for 2 couples with kids or 2 couples. If you were traveling with three couples, the house may not provide enough privacy as one of bedrooms is attached to the other one. It is a great layout for people with children. We will definitely stay here again and I have already recommended this home to some of our friends.

The perfect beach getaway!

Our week at Sandy Daze was everything we had hoped for and more! The quiet setting and cozy beach home was ideal for our family, parents, and Golden Retrievers. You can see the ocean from the back porch of Sandy Daze, and it only takes a minute or two to walk from the house to the beautiful and secluded beach. The beach area is quite wide and stretches for miles, so it is perfect for taking long walks or runs and letting your four-legged companions romp and play. The November weather in Cape San Blas was perfect (warm days and cool nights), while the sunsets were absolutely breathtaking. Additionally, the home was well-stocked with toiletries, kitchen ware/appliances, linens and towels, DVD movies, and two outdoor grills (Big Green Egg and Weber). On top of all of that, the homeowners were wonderful to work with throughout the inquiry process and during our stay at Sandy Daze. Our phone calls and emails were always addressed with a warm and friendly attitude and answered in a timely manner. It is obvious that Hillary and Todd (homeowners) are enthusiastic about their vacation home at Cape San Blas, and they take pride in having others enjoy it as well. Their attention to detail and show of customer service (e.g., welcome basket, gourmet chocolates on our pillows, treats for your puppy dogs) was quite impressive and make it easy for us to recommend this rental home with flying colors! We will forever remember our special time at Sandy Daze and cannot wait to go back!

We had a great time staying at your house and the gift basket was so unexpected, but appreciated. The house was really nice and a great location, great neighbors and very fun dog-friendly beach. It was great and we will definetly come back, in fact this is the first VRBO property in which I have made that claim...I've never been to Cape San Blas, I've always gone to destin and panama city, but I like this better as it was much more relaxing and very very inviting...We'll be back :-)

We had a wonderful week at the beach. Sandy Daze is a great house. The decor is charming, the amenities are fabulous. The owner provides so many extra things that are really special and heart warming. The first time my granddaughters and I walked down to the beach, I felt like we were entering an advertisement for vacationing in florida. The beach is beautiful: white sand, blue water and very few people. We took our family pet (a yorkie-poo) on his first family vacation and he had a great time being with all his people. We ate at the Indian Pass Raw Bar and went to Apalacholia and ate at the Owl Cafe. Both places are great. We also cooked a couple of nights and the Big Green Egg is wonderful. My husband plans on buying one for our home.

We spent the most wonderful week in Cape San Blas. First of all, enough cannot possibly be said about this house! It is truly amazing with every single amenity of home and beyond. Pet treats too! Literally hundreds of CD's, DVD's, a Wii, books, board games, and more. The kitchen is fully stocked (several staples too) and the beds and couches are extra comfy. The big green egg (grill/smoker) is of course wonderful. The porches are great for relaxing, napping, or reading a book with a glass of wine. If you wanted to, you could spend a week here and never leave the house. But, you wouldn't want to do that because there's so much to do! The beautiful beach is steps away and might as well be private with so few other people on it. Our dogs loved it as well. Hillary has lots of beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards for you to use. We took our boat into Port St. Joe's Bay....fantastic! We also scalloped, snorkeled, kayaked, shopped, watched the sunset, dined out, the list goes on and on. And the best part was, the oil has not affected the area at all. There haven't been any sightings as yet and none has washed up on the beaches. The water was just as beautiful as always. My husband took a few fishing charters out of Appalachicola and had good luck. The pictures of the house and the beach do NOT do it justice...you will be stunned. We were so glad to be able to spend a relaxing and adventurous (some of both!) vacation at an awesome home in a spectacular part of our country. The "Forgotten Coast" is truly amazing and shouldn't be missed. It is unlike anywhere we've ever been before. Recommended activities: scallop at the state park in Cape San Blas, shop in Appalachicola and eat at Caroline's, go to the outdoor store next to Piggly Wiggly (closest grocery) in Port St. Joe for fishing/snorkel suppies (you'll want water shoes), rent a kayak from Happy Ours (less than 1/2 mile) from the house), fish with Robinson Brothers Guides, if boating take the ramp from the state park and head over to Black's Island for snorkeling, get ice cream at Coneheads, catch the sunset!!! There's so much to do!

Loved the Cape and Sandy Daze

Lovely beach house. Beautifully decorated. Large and comfortable. Tons of amenities. Clean and well-maintained. Well-stocked kitchen. Attention to the smallest details including gift baskets upon arrival. Shrimp tastes delicious on the Big Green Egg grill. Owners were very helpful and kind. Perfect for families with children. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives. Beautiful and very private beach just at the end of the boardwalk. Loved the beach for our dog. Great for beach fires. Enjoyed eating at Papa Joe's Oyster Bar in Appalachicola. Have to try the pizza and salad at Joe Mama's Pizza in Port St. Joe. And Cone Heads is a must on the Cape for lunch and ice cream cones. Shells galore. Be careful not to bring home a poor crab! The beach area around the lighthouse has huge shells and is a very natural landscape. Not a lot of activity for the family that likes to go-go-go. But if deep sea fishing, snorkeling, horse back riding, surf fishing, and beachcombing are for you, it will not disappoint. Perfect for the family that wants to reconnect and relax.

If you are like us you have looked and looked for the perfect home for your dream vacation! Well, look no further! Cape San Blas is a perfect spot for dolphin watching and scalloping in the bay and this home is the perfect place to come home to at night. From the wonderful personal touches from the owners to the short walk to the beach to the beautiful views, our family could not have asked for more. You will enjoy the large family area,all the games and books, and the fully equipped kitchen! The goodie bag, the puppy treats, the chocolate on our pillows... it was like we were in a four star hotel! Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!

From the moment we walked in the door, til the day we left, we have never been so comfortable in a vacation rental. The home is very spacious, even more so than the pictures indicate. The kitchen is extremely well stocked, the linens are high quality, the beds are dreamy, the furnishings are comfortable and the decor is adorable with lots of attention to detail. The owners were friendly, very thoughtful, and made us truly feel like we were their guests. You can certainly tell the owners love their home. The beach is beautiful and very peaceful. We set up a tent and left it there all week without worry. If you vacation here, you must go to Indian Pass Raw Bar. By far the best seafood we had all week, plus the atmosphere is really laid back. We have visited this area several times and absolutely love it! If you are looking for a relaxing family vacation, this is the place. :) The Wiggins Family

The house and location were amazing! The online pictures are great, but it is even better in person! Our kids, ages 3 and almost 2 had the best time. They especially loved the screened in porch and putting the puzzles together that were in the game/toy closet (or attempting to put them together) and they spent a lot of time upstairs in the game room at night watching movies and playing. Didn't know what to expect with the Big Green Egg grill, but my husband gave it a shot and our steaks were unbelievable. And the beach! - I could go on and on. Very private - we had the beach mostly to ourselves and the kids could splash and play in the sand. The first day we saw at least 7 dolphins swimming and playing. We took the kids on the beach at night looking for crabs to "scare" with our flashlights - the crabs did not disappoint by the way. We saw probably a dozen or so. The stars are so bright on the beach, it is really amazing. We went into Port St. Joe and ate at the Sunset Coastal Grill and Joe Mama's Pizza - both restaurants were very good (even pleased my picky little eater). I would absolutely recommend this to any and everyone and in fact, have been talking about it nonstop since we got home. We didn't want to leave!! My 3 year old cried when I told her we were going home - she wanted to stay at the beach house. We are looking at the calendar already hoping to plan our next visit. The owners were super nice and responded immediately to all of my questions and emails. Thank you Timmons family!! We hope to contact you soon about visiting Sandy Daze again.

Wonderful Vacation Home

This beach home looks exactly like the pictures except for the new screened deck on the bottom and open deck on top floor. The amenities are beyond anyone's expectations. If it isn't here, you don't need it! The Timmons have definately thought of everything! The home is very clean, spacious, wonderfully decorated & comfortable, with big fluffy towels and comfy beds. This is everything all rolled into one big package....the beautiful beach, which is very close the house, we had almost to ourselves; shells galore; beach supplies; TV's in almost every room; a WII; Xbox; kids DVDs; kids toys, books, games; a bar for the adults; a living room to watch TV or movies, movies included; a living room to read and relax, books furnished; a furnished screened porch; and if you have a pet, there are as many amenities and treats for him as you. Town is minutes away with a nice grocery and drug store and there is a fresh seafood store right on the bay minutes from here. We had fresh seafood almost every night, except the nights we went to Appalachacola, and we had fresh seafood there too. And if you haven't tried cooking on a "Big Green Egg" that is a MUST before you leave. I think we have to have one. It was awesome. I almost left out our fishing. It's everywhere...the gulf, bay, you can go to Port St Joe and fish around the marina, I could go on and on. We had a wonderful, relaxing time. We sat on the deck and watched the ocean, and you can rent a horse and ride on the beach. Next time. Our only complaint was that it went too fast. There is definately too much to enjoy with so little time. The Timmons have gone out of their way in every area concerning the rental of this property. They answered all of our questions, they are extremely courteous and friendly and they definately tried to see that we had everything we needed. They are truly very nice people to deal with. We definately will be back and probably bring our children and grandchildren, because there is room for plenty and plenty for everyone to do!! It's a wonderful, beautiful beach house ! Thank you for a romantic anniversary and a very nice time.

This is truly a beautiful home that is the perfect spot for a beach getaway. Its very spacious, well-decorated, clean, and has great views of the ocean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sandy Daze and can't wait to visit again. The owner provided excellent customer service and spoiled our dog even more than he already is. Also, this rental is located at the best part of the Cape because its private and quiet, yet it still isn't too far from Port St. Joe for live music or Apalachicola for great oysters. Again, this is top notch rental for an excellent price. Your expectations will be blown out of the water!!
