Wonderful medieval apartment in the heart of the city on the walls with great views.
Our apartment, La Casa Cantabria, was built 800 yeas ago on the same street where St.Thomas of Canterbury stayed before going back to England to his martyrdom. As you climb the short marble staircase from the street, you go back in history. From the sitting room you see almost exactly the same view that artist Piero della Francesco saw before he painted his great masterpieces, many of which are on display in local towns like San Sepolchro and Arezzo. Also at this level are the bathroom (recently upgraded)and kitchen. The beautiful new kitchen is capable of gourmet cooking and in the cupboards you will find wine and pasta, bread and local olive oil all ready for your first Italian gourmet cooking experience.
The sitting/dining room is tastefully furnished, and contains one arresting picture by contemporary Anghiaran painter Vincenzo Calli, who exhibits regularly in North America. Upstairs there are three well furnished bedrooms, one with queen size double bed, one with two singles, and a third with one single and the best view. All have ceiling fans and all floors are tile or terrazzo. Both bathrooms have shower, basin and toilet, and bathroom has a bidet as well.
Overall the apartment is a delightful place to spend a holiday.

We love old buildings, old towns, castles and churches. We like fresh Tuscan food and wine, and love the restaurants in Anghiari. Because I am a university professor teaching cinema, we get the chance to take long European breaks and study Italian film, art and sculpture.

The 800 year old medieval walled town of Anghiari is in the heart of Tuscany,a world heritage site and one of Europe's most colorful countrysides. both in towns and villages,the Italians you will meet are most friendly to Americans. Tuscany is the cradle of the Renaissance, so we love the art galleries, medieval towns and wonderful music and arts festivals. Italian food and Tuscan cuisine is superb. Walking, horse riding and in Winter, skiing are great.
