Lake Summit house description
Thank you for checking with us. We have 3 houses here so please email for details on the others as well and please check the house website on the links below. Two are on the lake and one on the river. This house has over 1,700 Square feet of porches in a very private and quiet setting off of the main lake body. It is designed specifically to enjoy family living on beautiful and esteemed Lake Summit. The four bedroom lakefront home is surrounded by acres of wilderness and privacy, with decks off of two bedrooms and three of four bedrooms overlooking the water. In addition, a nice dip in the lake at the dock, or down by the rope swing or trestle can provide just the departure from - well - most things.
Please click onto the house website to check availability and to book your stay. (Click on VIEW RATES to your right and look at the 'links' section below Rates where it says: 'CLICK HERE - THE HOUSE WEBSITE.) If you do this, we are quick with a response as time is important to us all, and we want to help you make an informed decision in a timely manner.
We enjoy taking care of our guests with High Quality Razors, Toothbrushes, Soaps and Shampoos, and Chock Full O' Nuts Coffee and Tea. And as of 2011, we now supply linens. We aim for repeat renters and hope this will be something your family wants to do every year.
Our house is uniquely off the main body of the lake and in a very beautiful and quiet cove. It can be a very private and romantic setting, and it also has a wonderful entertainment layout. The hosue was designed to create a haven for families with children. In fact, children absolutely love it. There are literally endless possibilities for exploring, boating, swimming, river rafting/tubing, hiking; the list goes on & on. The most difficult part of bringing your children on vacation here is getting them to quit exploring and come home at the end of the day! (And for adults, the most difficult thing is staying away at the end of the day, as the comfort of the treetop deck at sunset calls for wine and cheese evenings while watching the dusk turn to darkness over the mountains and the lake.)
The Lake Road follows the entire shoreline for over 14 miles for those of us anxious to mountain bike or take a good invigorating (and sometimes social in the summer) walk.
This Vintage Lake Summit house is tucked away above a quiet cove just off the main body of the lake. Lake Summit is located midway between Flat Rock, Saluda, and Tuxedo, North Carolina, in a very magical setting.
As you walk into the main house, you see through the house to the lake. The kitchen, which is conveniently to the right off the parking area, spills into a huge (26 by 30) living room with beams and cathedral ceiling with double pane glass walls overlooking the mountains and the lake. The living room opens onto an even more huge (1700 square feet) deck through a 16 ft wide by 8 ft tall sliding glass door. And from the deck one is looking over the boathouse a short 50 feet away.
Upstairs in the main house are three bedrooms and two baths, both with shower/tub combos. Two of the bedrooms look over the lake and mountains, and have private doors onto decks.
Downstairs in the main house is a rustic and wide open bunk and play room with another huge stone fireplace and a 16 by 26 foot sleeping porch, which is cool and oh-so-wonderful in summer. The beds on the Sleeping Porch can be moved inside to the large downstairs room in cooler weather.
The boathouse is a two slip boathouse (largest is 8 feet by 24 feet) with an upper sun deck (est. 25 feet by 30 feet), a jump off platform on top, plenty of fishing and walking decks, two lock-up closets, and a separate swimming and sunning deck. There is ample boat parking and a canoe is here for your use.
Note: Until paid, rates are subject to change without notice, and your booking can only be held only upon receipt of deposit or payment.
We hope to hear from you soon, and want to remind you that, if you like the Lake, ask about locking in rates for the next 3-5 years to reserve the same weeks.

Owner kept deposit for no reason
Owner kept deposit for no reason
We rented from this owner in June of 2012. The house was OK a bit dirty when we arrived but served the purpose as a lake house. But beware the owner kept my damage deposit for no reason. The home was in better shape when we left then when we got there. He will not return our calls and did not send me an itemized list to justify why he kept (stole) my deposit. You have been warned, just rent somewhere else on the lake there are plenty of HONEST home owners. Joe Stuckey

Lake Summit !!!
Lake Summit !!!
I dont think we could find a more perfect mountain retreat! We have just reserved our favorite Lake Summit House again for a week this summer. Our first visit was a long fall weekend. The weather was crisp and the views of the lake were picture perfect with the brilliant fall foliage. It was so peaceful and we enjoyed long walks around the lake road. In the evenings we would warm up in front of huge stone fireplace after admiring the star filled autumn sky. Last summer we were fortunate to experience two very special events. The 4th of July celebration with a boat parade and a truly magical fireworks display. The fireworks began at dusk as we navigated by pontoon to the center of the lake. Boat lights twinkled red green and white, as the sky held enough light to view the majestic backdrop of mountains for a quite impressive fireworks display. We were also charmed by the old fashioned Coon Dog Day. We passed on the pancake breakfast and the 5k run but made the parade with very creative, mostly hillbilly themed, floats. There were many venders and activities for young and old. Music played throughout the day and the coon dog bench show and treeing contest were the highlights. That evening the square dance in the street was cut short by a rainshower but not before everyone had fun dancing in the rain. The house has the feel of an classic lakehouse, but has been updated with all the modern convieninces. It is comfortable and relaxed. There are window ac units in each bedroom, but we did not even turn them on as we much preferred the windows open and cool mountain breezes lulling us to sleep. The children enjoyed having the basement as their private getaway and the adults enjoyed that as well. The deep wrap around deck offered spectacular views of the private cove and the wall of sliding windows allowed the outside in. The owner provided many helpful suggestions for activities based on our interests and coordinated finding a boat rental. We hope to visit for years to come!

Why the Owner Chose Lake Summit:
Lake Summit (which this house is on) was built in 1920, and is about 3 miles long, with an estimated 14 miles of shoreline. I am here because I grew up here. It is a very, very magical place with a wonderful community. This house is also one of the quietest places on this lake. Since we are not on the main body of water, it is quiet and secluded, but 300 feet from the main lake. I have come here for a week when I needed quiet time and found that I can sit on the porch or hole up inside and never see a soul. Or I can get out in the boat, or walk, jog, or ride my bike along the 14 mile shoreline and interact with others. At night, again one can stay in and grill, cook, watch the sunset and enjoy the quiet, or there is plenty of nightlife and restaurants in Flat Rock, Hendersonville, and Asheville. The Flat Rock Playhouse also offers absolutely amazing theater. If you're not familiar with it, Google it. Recently Saluda has added some great restaurants with bands nightly ranging from rock to bluegrass.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
This is such a private and romantic setting. I recently completed some remodeling upstairs. Still more I would like to do downstairs but is set up as a TV/game room and works great as a second living area. Our next project is renovation of a charming vintage guest cabin jut above the main house. Join our facebook fan club and we will keep you updated on the progress. We hope to have it ready for next summer! It was designed to create a haven for families with children, and now it has a wonderful layout for relaxing with friends. In fact, children absolutely love this place. There are literally endless possibilities for exploring, boating, swimming, river rafting/tubing, hiking; the list goes on & on. The most difficult part of bringing your children on vacation here is getting them to quit exploring and come home at the end of the day! (And for adults, the most difficult thing is staying away at the end of the day, as the comfort of the treetop deck at sunset calls for wine and cheese evenings while watching the dusk turn to darkness over the mountains and the lake.) There are tons of summer camps in the area to take your children to, and fantastic golf (Kenmure, the Cliffs, Crooked Creek Golf Club, Hendersonville Country Club, Orchard Trace Golf Club, Champion Hills Golf Club, Cummings Cove Golf & Country Club, the list goes on). There is the Biltmore House, Keowee Adventure Center, Mt. Pisgah, Mt. Mitchell, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smokey Mountains, the Green River, Fly Fishing, White Water, quiet reading, bird watching, and running triathlons. About the only thing we DON'T have here is the beach. But if that's what you want, we do have a beach house in Charleston available.
