We can't say enough good things about the wonderful weekend we shared at this cottage on the farm! Everything was perfect and it was such a pleasure to be made to feel like the farm belonged to us ... for at least the two days we were there and explored the land and enjoyed the animals. We loved the dog ... who most definitely was the scout on our hike and helped us find our way home. The property was perfect for our visit with two Bradley students - a break for them from dorm life and a break for us from "city" life! Thank you for sharing your home, farm, animals and hospitality! We would not hesitate to return the next time we visit Peoria.

We had an engagement in Peoria on Sunday 9/9/12 and wanted to stay somewhere relaxing for the weekend as apposed to staying in a hotel. We found the cottage and were not disappointed. We enjoyed the quiet of the country and were able to enjoy walks on the farm with sightings of deer and turkeys. Our hosts were welcoming and made the stay even more enjoyable. The drive to Peoria was easy and quick. We would definitely book the cottage again.

I wanted to write as a follow up to our fantastic visit to the cottage in August. The underlying story is that the Thursday before our reservation started, my dad entered a hospice. The prognosis was very uncertain, with the doctors saying 4 days to 4 months. Well, that resulted in a lot of soul searching about whether to go forward with our 13th Annual Father Daughter Camp Out. My father was an avid camper, we spent many weekends in the great countryside. I listened to my heart and concluded that he would have wanted us to be in that same country setting in the outdoors, together as a family. The cottage presented the perfect setting for reflection. There were a lot of telephone calls back and forth. And the daughters knew that we faced an uncertain future for their grandfather. Still, we spent those two days wrapped up in our very own special kind of peace. As we drove back home on that Sunday afternoon, I booked the first flight the next morning. Sadly, my dad passed away in January, though the intervening months gave me a number of times to be with him. He is now at peace himself. We will always remember the specialness of the Father Daughter Camping Trip last August and I am grateful for your very welcoming cottage. Best regards

Quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and historic. A great getaway to reconnect, think, and recoup. Beautiful meadows to hike in, wildlife to see, and farm animals to enjoy. The cottage is comfy and roomy including full kitchen, dining table, living room. Lots to look at and enjoy throughout the cottage, including a basket full of maps from around the world. Went during a heatwave but the air conditioners kept us comfortable. Grocery store and historic town is a hop/skip/jump away.

What can I say that others have not already in their review except that we are a family of 6 and our children range from 13 to 3. We did not hear a single complaint from any members of our family the whole week we were at the farm. The kids loved the creek, Ginger and Alphabet(the two horses), the chicks, climbing tree and the wonderful fire pit where we shared smores and sing a longs. Even before we left the premise on our way out, our oldest asked us when we were coming back. Buzz and Sal are the sweetest, most accomodating hosts ever. We left our vacation refreshed and rejuvenated. Can't wait to go back.

Gosh, I almost don't want to review this cottage as it's a hidden gem I want to keep all to myself. However, I know the owners need to keep business coming in or it could go away :-( So, here goes. The owners are extremely hospitable and a joy to be around. We had a great time experiencing all the farm had to offer: animals, barns, and acres of gorgeous hiking. The cottage is tastefully decorated with a full kitchen, two bedrooms, and hide-a-bed in the main room. GREAT for a family get away, romantic weekend, or guys get away fishing trip. Highly recommended. Thanks.

My family (5) and I spent 5 nights and 6 days at this marvelous, working farm. The cottage is fully outfitted, with the personal touches of the listers, and the environment makes up for having only one bath (there were no fights with 2 teenagers!). We helped with chores (feeding the cows, chickens and horses) and had small groups of family over to do the same! We have great photos! This beat staying at a hotel by leaps and bounds, and was only 10 minutes from all the Peoria locations! Just do it!

Owner response: We enjoy hosting visitors at holidays or any other time. We appreciate all the wonderful people we've met, and their fine care of our charming cottage. We enjoy hosting on holidays, romantic get-aways, families with children, and people here for work. Thanks to all our amazing visitors who've blessed us by being here.

The cottage was the perfect setting for our weekend to visit our daughter at Bradley University. The owners had the cottage ready for arrival with fresh linens and the special touches of home. Our family of six was very comfortable and left rested. We hit the malls, played frisbee, barbecued and roamed the farm. Our youngest daughter hung with the farm animals and can't wait to go back. We will be back again over the next 4 years in peoria.

We came down from the Chicago area to view this year's High School Cross Country state finals in Detweiller Park in Peoria and used the cozy cottage as our mini reunion center for the weekend. It worked to perfection. The only negative was not having more time to explore the beautiful grounds! Set back in rolling hills and pastures, off the beaten track, with Peoria easily accessible by car. We'll be back next year!

My stay at the cottage was great. The cottage is far enough back for privacy & close enough to town to make quick runs for groceries or run out for errands. I would recommend going to the town square to look at the nice shops or go to a nice lunch or dinner at Maria's or Granite City. The cottage was well-maintained & had everything you need for extra guests, which my husband & I did. The owners were so helpful & very personable. Overall the cottage was a great place to stay with plenty of activities to do & I woud recommend the cottage to a friend.

We are into our 4th week at the cottage (June, 2010) and enjoying every minute of it. Being natives of this area we are pleased to find such an accomodation within miles of our family and friends. And it is nice to be able to come back to our own little cottage at the end of the day. The owners have been very helpful in seeing to our needs and also allow you any level of privacy you might prefer. Would we visit again......most certainly and will tell friends and family about the vacation cottage in the countryside of Central Illinois.

We enjoyed your cottage in such a beautiful, quiet setting. It is tastefully decorated and comfortable and was a perfect place to meet up with our friends from Iowa. We particularly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, the outdoor table and chairs and your gourmet coffee around that great dining room table. Some of the highlights of our weekend were going to the Lincoln Museum in Springfield, shopping and dining in your quaint downtown, and a tour of your historic home. So glad we found you online…..it sure beat having to meet up with our friends in a boring hotel room!
