This Oceanfront townhouse, (29135 Ocean Rd Unit 17, Bethany Beach, DE 19930-3650, for mapquest and gps directions), is located in Tower Shores, known as #17 Ocean Road, Atlantic Watergate, Tower Shores, Bethany Beach, Delaware, just two and a half miles north of intersection of Route 26 and Route 1, Bethany Beach on Route 1. (For directions,go to Mapquest, enter Ocean Road and Cove Road, Bethany Beach, DE., or, go to whitepages com, get reverse location/directions for telephone: 302-537-7290. It is right on the Atlantic Ocean. You can see the ocean from all three levels. It has a fenced in "sand" yard, which is part of the beach.
The unit was built between 1965 and 1967. The interior wooden walls are pickled, giving a warm, authentic feeling to the house, as though Papa Hemmingway was going to walk in from the beach. Rental is from Sunday at 2:00 p.m. through Sunday at 10:00 a.m., when beach traffic is considerably lighter.
The townhouse is next to the Delaware State Seashore which is a State Park and Nature Preserve where you can fish from the shore or from the rocks in the Indian River Inlet. The townhouse is seven miles south of Rehobath and Dewey, and 14 miles north of Ocean City, Maryland. There are tennis courts and, of course, wide, open beaches. Biking is easy since it is so level and there are bike lanes.
Guests enter from the bayside, above the car port. There is parking for two cars, (only), under the house. There is also an outside shower. On the first floor is a bathroom, washer and dryer, filled book shelves, dining table and six chairs, a complete galley kitchen, counter and stools. The living room has the TV, DVD, VCR, a love seats, a rocker, and a full-size sofa, all with new matching cushions. The room opens onto a screened in porch with table and chairs, to the outside deck, all of which overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, which is less than 150 feet of sand away.
The second floor ocean side room has a screened in porch, hammock, chairs, immediately off of an ocean side bedroom with two twin beds, a crib, (sheets aren't provided for the crib), book shelves, cable TV, DVD player, and VCR. There is a complete bathroom between the two bedrooms. The bayside bedroom has two bunkbeds and a room divider, which can separate the room into two separate bedrooms.
The third floor has an open deck, recliner, and chairs, off of the master bedroom with a vaulted, open beam ceiling, paddle fan, skylight, fine chairs, end tables, dresser, love seat, end table, and a king-size bed. There is an internal window to let in the setting sun from the skylight in the stairwell, or blinds for privacy. A complete bathroom, with a shower, sky light, and shower is connected to the bedroom.
No matter what the weather, you can always watch the ocean from all three floors. Even with the air conditioning and all of these amenities, it still feels like a beach house. - Air Conditioning : In addition to central air conditioning, supplemental wall air conditioners on the first and third floors.
- Linens Provided : King size bed on the third floor, and four twin beds on the second floor are made, linens left on the bunk bed to be made by the guest. No sheets for the imported Italian crib.
- Washer : Stacked Washer/dryer on the first floor, not outside under the beach house.
- Dryer : Stacked Washer/dryer on the first floor, not outside under the beach house.
- Covered Parking : Parking is limited to two cars, only, under the bay side deck. No exceptions. Home owners association tows excess cars at owner's expense.
- Off Street Parking : Parking for two cars is under the beach house. Association tows any illegally parked cars, i.e. more than two cars.
- Wood Fireplace : Locked for insurance reasons and is not to be used. Simply looks pretty.
- Beds
- King Bed : On the third floor, with deck and complete bathroom.
- Twin/Single Bed (4) : Four Twin beds on the second floor ocean side room and in bay side room with room divider, plus a hammock on the screened in porch. Mattres on bunk bed is twin bed size.
- Bunk Bed : The bayside bedroom has a room divider and a bunk bed.
- Crib : There are no sheets for the crib. This is a very big Italian crib and mattress that my mother bought for our first born, over 28 years ago. Our other 3 heirs have also been through it and now it is your turn.

- Cable/Satellite TV (2) : 2 stereo TVs, 2 DVRs, 2 VCRs. 37" Flat screen TV in the living room.

- Video Library : DVDs and VHS tapes are there for your enjoyment. If any of the VHS tapes are bad, simply throw them out since they are the vintage cartoons from when our four children were children.

- Full Kitchen : A variety of spices and oil are provided. Simply ask that if one runs out on your watch that it be replaced for the next guest. The kitchen is fully supplied, i.e. blender, coffee pot, can opener, knives, pots, pans, pizza pans, dishwasher, garbage disposal, ice maker, just like at your home, only smaller.

- Dishwasher : The dishwasher is new, with many features, particularly if you are an engineer or computer programmer. Otherwise it does a very good job washing dishes.

- Charcoal BBQ Grill : Medium size Weber grill, with a chimney for starting charcoal. There is also an ash can,

- Oceanfront : You will be less than 150 feet of sand from the Atlantic Ocean.

- Telephone : Telephone is long distance restricted. For local calls only. You should bring your cell phone.
- Broadband Internet : There is community wifi broadband that works more often than not. Signal may be spotty and is as a convenience, not guaranteed. Reception best near bay side windows or on bay side deck. Transmitter up the street from beach house.
- WiFi (Wireless Internet) : We may be going to private internet since the community system has become unreliable. This remains to be seen.

- A 37" Flat Screen TV on the first floor and a 24" Flat Screen Stereo TV on the second floor, Two DVD players, Two VCRs, Ceramic Flat Top Stove, Complete kitchen with Cooking Utensils provided, Movies, Children's videos, High chair on rollers, booster seats, beach toys, No Pets and no smoking.

- Kid Friendly : There is a high chair, booster seats, toys, games, and as much stuff as we could get out of our house as possible. This beach house and beach is 155% family oriented. Our children have grown up at this beach since the summer of 1987. Actually, our children have gotten older. It's hard to say whether they have really "grown up."

we just returned from a week at this beach house and were very happy with our experience. Everything was as advertised and it is one of the best-equipped rentals that we have encountered. if you are looking for a quiet time with low stress, this is the place.
Recommended for:Girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

We just recently returned from our visit to this wonderful beach house! The owner was fantastic and the house was like home only better ... the back yard was the beach! Our daughter was married on the beach at Henlopen State Park, just a stones throw away, and it could not have been more beautuful! Bob made our beach house rental arrangements super easy and the rest just fell into place. So glad we stayed here. The house was perfect for us. We will be back! Thanks Bob!, Peg

We just returned Sunday from a delightful week at Unit 17 in Atlantic Watergate. The location of the house was just wonderful. It couldn't have been better. When sitting on one of the two screen porches or on one of the two oceanside decks, it felt as though you were on the beach. The sound of the waves, the view and the smell of the ocean made for a very relaxing vacation. The ocean could be seen from the kitchen, living room and two oceanfront bedrooms as well. My daughter and her friend loved playing in the ocean and being able to easily run back and forth to the house for snacks. The screen porch was a perfect place for dining, playing cards or just relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped and the beds extremely comfortable. All the neighbors were very friendly and it felt as though we were at home at the beach. (Actually we do really wish the house belonged to us.) We will definitely return.

My wife and I just returned from our second visit to this property. We like to go to the beach before the crowds arrive. In the spring it is often warm enough to enjoy the sun and sand. There are few things finer than waking up to the sunrise as it colors the morning sky. Last year upon our arrival we found the townhouse as described...great access to the beach and National Shoreline, everything we needed was provided, everything worked, the furniture was comfortable, and the place was clean! When we returned this year we were pleasantly surprised to find that the owners had installed a new stove and microwave. There were also new china and glassware as well as new covers on all the beds. We hope the other renters appreciate these touches as much as we did. We expect to return next year and might even bring the grandchildren. Thank you for your hospitality and keep up the good work.
