My husband, four sons and two dogs and two grandparents spent Easter weekend at Poco Loco. The Biggs graciously met us at the property early and did a great job showing us around. Within 10 minutes of arriving the boys and dogs were off to explore the vast acerage and the river. It was the perfect getaway for all of us; we never left the property. The pool is beautiful, the game room is awesome and there are ample hiking trails and easy river access. The wifi worked great, two grills to barbque, lots of outdoor dining room and a few firepits to enjoy some smores at night. I especially loved all the stone work and the lights on the property in the evening. I would highly recommend this property to couples, families or groups. My parents stayed in the guesthouse which was perfect for them.

We recently spent a February weekend at Poco Loco Ranch with family and friends. Everything is exactly as advertised via pictures and word descriptions. We enjoyed walking around the grounds as well as simply relaxing in the main house and game room. Although the weather did not allow for making use of the pool, hot tub or river, the pool area is beautiful and there is quite a bit of river front area with several places from which to launch tubes for floating down the Guadalupe River. The pick up point for those making use of the river is one mile from the house and is very easy access down the main road. Our group was not large enough to make use of all the facility, but the sleeping quarters can handle 10-12 people in beds, plus several others on couches and many more on air mattresses. There is ample space inside/outside for much larger crowds to gather for the day. We found a variety of board games to play in the house and in the game room. The town of Boerne is about 10 minutes away and there are numerous shops and eating places. Fredericksburg is about an hour away and makes for a very enjoyable day or two. San Antonio is also about an hour away. Our main contact person was Melinda and she was very helpful and so easy to deal with on the phone and in person. We will definitely look into using Poco Loco again in the future. Thanks for a great time!

The description and pictures of this property were good and accurate. But being there was more pleasant than the pictures conveyed. The first glimpse of Poco Loco Ranch is of the tall windmill and beautiful natural stone fence surrounding the front yard. When you turn into the gate, you see a perfectly manicured lawn and a wide front porch. A very inviting view. As you follow the round driveway, you see the volley ball net and tether ball pole. Then the guest house, pool, game room and long back porch. But it is the inside of the immaculately cleaned main house that really lets you know that this is going to be a memorable vacation. It is warm and inviting. The decor is rustic and filled with reminders of a hunting lodge. The kitchen is not cramped inspite of the center island and has every appliance in it to make cooking and cleaning easy. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed the nine days we spent here. The evenings were quiet and peaceful. The sun rises were beautiful and so was the panoramic scenery of the hill country. The nearest town is Boerne, Texas which has many great restaurants and an excellent bakery. There is a cave with guided tours nearby, a river walk and many parks also. The city of San Antonio is only 30 miles away. And the city of New Braunfels is only 40 miles away. Poco Loco is the perfect place for us city dwellers to relax and rejuvenate. The owner is a wonderful and pleasant person. She is very easy to work with and willing to go the extra mile to make your stay pleasant. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy this treasure.

My experience at Poco Loco Ranch was just awesome!!! I was use to finding places similar to hotels, but Poco Loco is actually a residence where you feel at home without the burden of being your home to pick up after yourself. But what I most enjoyed was the peacefulness of the Ranch, the Guadalupe River at walking distance and at night, the quiteness that is only interrupted by the wind passing through the trees and the crickets. With no doubt, I will definitely go back to the Ranch and spend time and relax from this agitated world. You can feel God's closeness there. Raymund Garcia

We celebrated my birthday at the Poco Loco Ranch with 12 additional friends. The property is beautiful. The house is a comfortable ranch house with many thoughtful details added. A seemingly endless supply of fluffy, clean towels, the bedrooms were cozy with nice, clean linens and comfortable beds. Some guests slept on the sofas with no complaints. The kitchen was very well stocked and we did a large amount of cooking in it. We especially enjoyed the beautiful pool and the the views of the property. The porch is a fantastic place to sit and and look at the lovely oak trees on the property. We generally had breakfast on the porch and watched the hummingbirds, and then spent evenings and night time out there again. Would strongly encourage hiking the property, So much to see and discover! The game room is definitely worth checking out! We found the listing description very accurate. The photos are very accurate representations of the property. The property was very clean and well-maintained. The owners were extremely helpful in answering our questions, and were also very available for any calls. Very kind and thoughtful people. I highly recommend this property, great for both large groups of people as well as small families. The grocery store in Boerne is very well stocked and has a Central Market Cafe within. We generally stayed on the property, but heard of a very nice wine shop in Boerne. We look forward to renting the property again.

Just spent 5 nights at Poco Loco for a memorable Family Fourth of July … Eleven of us, ages 2-62. Bonus point: owners allowed us to bring our “aging Lab” so truly the entire “Bunch” was together. The second day, everyone asked if we could come back next year! Now that’s how you know everyone’s having a great time. Great-grandparents came over from Georgetown and joined us on the Fourth, and they want us to rent the Ranch for a larger, extended family reunion! The setting was just right for our group who loves the great outdoors. What did we do? We cooked/smoked chicken and steaks on the grill and smoker. Ate outside on the patio in the evenings…ceiling fans and cool breeze outside and no worries about making a mess with the kids. With extra fridge and kitchen in guest-house, we had oodles of room for cooking/supplies. We rafted the river…well, there is some “walking the river” since the current is a little slow along this part of the Guadalupe, but it was a fun 3 hour adventure with all of us on our tubes and floats (provided at the house). Hint: you do need a vehicle to navigate rough parts of the road to get to river entrance, and use the third entrance…it’s easiest. Took grandkids to river everyday to catch small fish and frogs and whatever else they could dip with their nets! We would wade/float a short distance and enjoyed the scenery while they entertained themselves with their insect nets. We swam…multiple times a day at the pool…what a great pool…right by the windmill. Loved sitting by the pool at night viewing the stars. Load the Constellation App on your IPhone and see what’s out there! We made S’mores in the fire pit. Yum. We hiked/walked/jogged around the property. We gamed every imaginable game in the game-room. Picture on website shows what’s in the game-room! We shopped and ate twice in Downtown Boerne. Cypress Grill really delish. Antique shops, etc., close early, so don’t expect to shop in evening after dinner! We also spotted “wildlife” including several dozen deer. There’s room to spread out…I loved sleeping in the guest-house because we could have our morning coffee by the peaceful pool while the kids/grandkids got things going in the Main House! Not only can you spread out on the property with multiple houses, you can also spread out in the Main House, multiple sitting spaces. Get yourself a Blokus game and gather the adults after kids go to bed. You’ll be up past your bedtime! Lots of Kodak memories. :-)

It was a destination wedding (lol) Saturday at the Serengeti Resort for both families, mostly from RGV, Houston, and LA, a few from PA,GA, MI, CA. We wanted to have a gathering place Friday for friends and family instead of them sitting in hotel rooms staring at the walls! Also didn't want to limit rehearsal meal to just wedding party. It worked out beautifully and the weather cooperated, not too hot, and with ceiling fans very comfortable eating on the front patio. The hosts provided additional tables and chairs delivered to us.. We fried freshly caught that week fish from the arroyo near Port Mansfield, out near the guest house and served from tables under the walkway. Everybody enjoyed themselves and exclaimed over the house and property. My brother in law and his wife and son stayed at the guesthouse and helped with the fish fry. Three of my four boys, and one of their fiancees and her two young sons and my parents stayed with us in the main house. Around getting ready for the fish fry, many of them enjoyed the pool and going tubing. Several San Antonio relatives came and enjoyed them too! We had a fabulous time and if ever need to host something near Boerne again, would gladly check and see if it is available.

I had the pleasure of staying at Poco Loco 2 weekends in a row. After going up to the ranch for a weekend retreat with high school student leaders, I just HAD to see if it was available for a reunion gathering planned for the next weekend. Perfect for small gatherings or large family reunions, Poco Loco was exactly what I had been looking for in my vacation property search. Everything was clean and in order. The rustic charm balanced with updated touches was perfect. The game room was everyone's favorite gathering space and there were plenty of comfortable sleeping spaces for everyone. The river was high, despite the drought, and a fun place to relax in. The on site river access set the property apart from other local rentals. I look forward to booking my next retreat or reunion weekend at Poco Loco! Thank you!

The PLR is a fantastic place to bring your family for a vacation. We have 2 young children and they absolutely loved it. The sleep quarters are enormous with plenty of space. The ranch itself has so many things to do. My children really enjoyed the pool by the guesthouse. We also made multiple trips down the guadalupe river there prior while the water was up. The kids love to just roam the ranching searching for the caves. We had the most fantastic BBQ there on Sunday allowing the kids to run around the front yard. Also, my little girl first learned to ride her bike on their great road they have to the entrance that you can block off. We have been out a few times now with friends and just absolutely love it. Kayaking, fishings, cave hunting, BBQ and just swimming at the pool. The PLR is truly a piece of heaven. We will be back every year.

Women's Retreat, June 23-26, 2011 Here is a listing of the problems that we encountered: 1. A/C in main house (throughout) was not working - the kitchen was a sauna! We complained immediately and was told that help was on the way. This was on Thursday afternoon. It was SATURDAY NIGHT before they finally brought temporary cooling units to the house. 2. roaches in main house master bath 3. blown breaker in main house master bath on last morning 4. natural gas smell in guest house 5. slippery bath tub in guest house 6. no place for daily trash dump 7. poor water presser/clogged shower head in guest house 8. sliding door in guest house increasingly hard to open/close throughout the weekend 9. outside plugs at guest house don't work 10. the main gate was more like a revolving door that never closed - constant traffic and it was never closed between cars. It was a little unnerving for a group of women to be that far removed from town and not have the security of having the gate closed at all times. 11 .Mold in bathtub in the main house. 12. Advertised CAVES were actually just small holes in the ground - inaccessible. 13. River access is more than 1 mile from the main house and almost inaccessible by vehicle b/c of the road conditions. 14. Washer/dryer are OUTSIDE in the garage (100 feet from the main house) and are in serious need of REPLACEMENT! Because of the numerous problems our group encountered, the property manager offered us a FREE return trip - all we had to pay was the cleaning fee. We gladly accepted and determined that October 20-24, 2011 would be perfect. I repeatedly asked for a new contract for the return dates and was told over and over again that it was in the works, but no to worry because we were on the calendar. On October 04, 2011, I received an email from the property manager indicating that we would need to reschedule because her brother-in-law had already promised the ranch to another group. I believe that a PAYING customer took our weekend, and although I understand the concept of making a living, I don't believe that you renig on a deal in the process. We are confident that the property manager will always have a better deal on the table and therefore we'll never see our FREE weekend.

Owner response: As the owners of the Poco Loco Ranch, our family would like to thank our many guests for their positive reviews of the Poco Loco Ranch. your reviews have given many others the opportunity to experience our unique experience while visiting the Texas Hill Country. This group had suffered a loss, and because of the sad personal events in their lives they described, we offered them a special discount. From the moment they arrived the complaint began, but we worked diligently to please them. nothing seemed adequate. (Interestingly, even after their negative review, they wanted to return for a second stay.) Our ranch is a family ranch. We are delighted to offer it to our many wonderful guests. We take pleasure knowing that others are enjoying our beautiful Poco Loco. Every penny that we derive (and then some) is spent on improving its comforts. We are not a typical property. First, our family's personal retreat included complete access to our 250 acres of hill country property loaded with deer and other wildlife and filled with canyons and fun places to explore. Second, included is the use of tubes for a leisurely 30 to 45 minute ride down the meandering Guadalupe River (which runs through our property) to a nearby bridge, for the 1 mile drive (or hike) back to the main house on a paved road. Third, guests love lying on the lawn (away from the city lights). Gazing at and counting the millions of bright and shooting stars is an awe inspiring experience. Fourth, frequent comments are about our new, large pool and separate hot tub (with a full sized spinning windmill overlooking it), that we and our guests enjoy. Fifth is our new, neat 20 ft long shuffleboard. Nearby Boerne offers activities (weekend fairs and fine dining) and Fredericksburg and Kerrville offer even more. Many enjoy, of course, San Antonio and its many, many attractions. Our sincere apology that we were not able to make this experience as special as the others mentioned in the many positive reviews about the ranch. If we could sum up the most popular comments we receive, they would be that of an "amazing" and "magical" experience. Considering all that we provide, the Poco Loco Ranch offers a fabulous value if you want something unique and want to enjoy the beauty of the Texas Hill Country and more.

We rented Poco Loco with a group of friends for a week. In total, there were 8 adults and 7 kids under the age of 5. Between the river, pool, horseshoes, washers, shuffle board, evening rides to see the sunset; there was something for everyone. Most of our evenings consisted of sitting underneath the large oak trees with an ice cold beverage listening to music and relaxing after fun filled day. For those that love seeing wild life, there are white tail, axis, turkey and roadrunners everywhere! We look forward to staying at the ranch again.

I had our wedding reception party on May 05, 2011 for a crowd of approximately 100 people. The weather was hot, but our accommodations were perfect. From the time that I booked the Poco Loco until the time that I checked out the owners were always on top of things and helped with everything. I rented a tent for the dinner, table, chairs, margarita machines, kiddy jump jumps, and porta johns for our party. I was delayed in making it during the scheduled time of arrival for the rented items, so the owner phoned me and explained they would handle the drop off of the items and setup of the tent. I was put at ease with their assistance as I was traveling from Washington D.C. and our stress level for having the party setup was well above average. Communication from the owners and timely completion of having the party items setup as we made our way to the Poco Loco was much more than anticipated. Once we arrived we were greeted and provided new tubes for floating the river and towels for the pool and showers. The Poco Loco was amazing; it’s positioned overlooking the beautiful rolling country hills. The Guadalupe River was approximately half mile trip by country road and trucks in which we all (100 or so of us) made it to float several times. The house setup was perfect; each room had an adequate A/C unit which was needed since the temperatures during the time were just hitting above the 100 degree mark. The kitchen was adequate and was capable of handling the party’s lunch setup and side dishes since we had the main course of bar-b-que catered. The pool constructed in a huge circle with a bench that spans more than 75% around the pool with a jacuzzi above made it the prime meeting place for most of the party as the margarita machine spun next to the guest house. The game room was a perfect key to the party that we didn’t anticipate that kept the kids busy and made the party be spread around the ranch without the overcrowded feeling. I can’t say enough good things about our journey to the area, the owners, and the amount of assistance we had as our party was a success. If you are considering this place for a party or just a weekend getaway in the country then look no further, the Poco Loco is the place. With plenty of parking, 2 houses with a huge party room that has every game, and located in a beautiful area with everything you need for a good time. After the party was over and a success we confirmed that we made the right choice.

The home is so roomy and filled with everything you will need for a delightful retreat away from home. The owners are the most wonderful people. I've never had a landlord be so kind to make sure we had everything we needed to make our occassion as special as it could possible be. This was the perfect place for our girls getaway! There was plenty of room and something to do for everyone! The pool is gorgeous- both during the day and at night. We loved that it was so close to Boerne...it's easy to run in if you forget anything. The pictures shown are great, but they don't do it justice- the place is beautiful!! The owners were so friendly and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back for our annual girls vacation and now our family would like to do the family reunion there as well! I reccomend this ranch for not only a girls trip, but for any family vacation as well. There is truly something to do for everyone!

Our entire family (four couples, children and dogs) stayed at the Ranch for a week during the summer and had a marvelous time. Our hosts were friendly and accommodating and delivered everything they promised. We had a few issues during the week that were all of our own making, but our hosts immediately solved each one for us. The setting at the Ranch is absolutely gorgeous and the facilities were everything we expected. We particularly enjoyed the swimming pool and the incredible game room. The river is only a very short distance across a pasture from the house and we had a great time floating/tubing. We will definitely return to the Poco Loco Ranch.

We had a family reunion out at Poco Loco. Everything was better than described in the listing. We had endless hours of fun at the pool, river, in the gameroom (bring AC units during summer), and sitting around outside. There are so many things for people to do inside and outside. We had some trouble with the outside lighting, but the owner was quick to remedy the situation when we left. Overall the owner was incredibly helpful and went out of her way to improve our stay. This is a great place to get away from the city-life and noise but still just a short drive to town if you need an extra bag of ice.

The ranch is a perfect getaway from the city. It has wonderful charm and is a great place to spread out. There are plenty of fun things to do and all sorts of places to relax. Can't think of a better place in state to spend a vacation.
