Why the Owner Chose Dupont Circle
As a single mom I need to provide for my two boys. I love to travel and so do my kids. Most of the time I travel out of DC and the situation helped me see that just as I love to leave the city and to explore other places, there are people who come to visit DC to spend time with their families. My two boys, my family, are the best critics of any place, as no furnishings are safe from their play and no vase is sacred to them. Our places are luxurious but ready to be used. I understand what most travelers need to feel comfortable since I have traveled extensively around the world to Africa, South and Central America, Asia and Europe . Please come and share your vacation time in our home. I promise that we will do our best to make you feel comfortable.
This is the reason I bought my rental property.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
From our apartment in the heart of Dupont Circle the access to all the tourist attractions, world famous restaurants, great bars and the biggest selection of privately owned galleries is just steps away. The metro stop is only a block and a half away, next to Starbucks. The 14 Street buses run directly downtown from our bus station at the end of the block; every two minutes during rush hour and every six minutes other times.
The White house, The Mall and The Smithsonian Museums are less than a mile away; about fifteen minute walk or few metro stops.
Owner's Map of Dupont Circle
hi,
originally from Prague, Czech Republic, Washington DC has become my second home twelve years ago when I came to study at Georgetown University.
I live in this wonderful city with my two boys Alexander and Christopher, only few blocks from the rental property. We spend every weekend at a museum (Air and Space is the favorite), hiking through Rock Creek Park or on a fifty year old carousel in front of the Smithsonian Gardens and we hope that all our guests enjoy this vibrant city as much as we do.

Good experience but won't go back

Plusses: Cool old bldg., modern furnishings, nicely decorated, well-stocked kitchen, modern appliances in good working order, flat-screen TV with Directv, nice tub/shower with good water pressure, plenty of closet space, nice collection of tourist info/brochures, excellent wireless access, creative use of space, nice big full-length hallway mirror, convenient to post office and pharmacy, convenient to U Street corridor, close to U Street (green/yellow) metro station - 0.3 miles per Metro Tripfinder, Eva very accessible and responsive--she came out right away to give us an extra set of keys. She answered the phone each time we called. Minuses: Not as close to Dupont Circle as we were led to believe - 0.8 miles per Metro Tripfinder - this apt. is on T street between 14th and 15th. Do not come here with lots of luggage (our mistake) - stairs narrow but typical for old building - and there is a washer/dryer in the basement. Multiple trips up stairs with luggage and groceries was hard for my husband's ailing knees. Apt needs a good deep cleaning - dusty, especially behind TV; rugs seemed really dirty. A broom and dustpan in the unit would be nice. The sheets and pillows on bed and sofa are stained. (Sofa was uncomfortable). The place needs some touch-up paint. Needs professional work as well. The cable for the TV runs out the open kitchen window - making easy access for bugs; we did see two roaches while we were there. The power cord for the microwave runs behind -- and sometimes falls into -- kitchen sink. Door to cabinet under sink is missing. Smoke detector on shelf instead of on ceiling - not sure if it works. Bedroom window is broken. A/C units in windows look new but not sealed well - and dusty. Sink in bathroom slow to drain. TINY bedroom, fits bed and that's about it. If you're a member of PETA you might be offended by the animal skin rugs. Same homeless man on corner of T and 14th every morning. We paid full price for the unit (and upset to see the rate cut by a third of that just one week later) but we didn't think it was worth it. We stayed there because we had a good experience with vrbo in the past, but would have preferred a clean hotel with elevator in good part of town to this apt. The place has a lot of potential, though, and Eva was very nice and responsive.
Owner response:Bruce, thank you for your feedback. Our furniture is modern, mostly modern classics, which most people appreciate durning our stay. I am sorry it was not comfortable enough for you. Re. the area, it is safe and friendly. I live just few blocks from the apartment with my two small children - we walk and ride our bikes everywhere. I wish you had called me while staying with us so I could assure you of the safety day and night time and you could have enjoyed all the wonderful restaurants, theatre and jazz clubs, all walking distance. All the best, Eva

Clean but in a questionable neighborhood

The apartment was very clean although the furniture in the living room was very uncomfortable. The location was a bit far north to walk for sightseeing but the bus and metro were close by and easy to use. Nightlife in the neighborhood is being rejuvenated as well as some of the buildings in that area. Several people we talked to in DC warned us not to be walking around the neighborhood at night but that it was fine during the day. We never had any trouble but did meet some interesting people and stayed in after dark, on the uncomfortable furniture. The owners were very responsive to our questions before renting this unit.

My husband and I stayed here for six nights at the start of August. Communications with Eva were clear and timely so we were able to settle in quickly once we arrived. The apartment is located at the edge of the historical district with beautifully renovated buildings. The metro was easily accessible. On two occasions we walked directly into the Foggy Bottom area to see the neighborhood better. We enjoyed coffee at Peregrine coffee shop nearby. We had great meals at Rice and Cork restaurants which were not inexpensive but worth the cost. We only ate breakfast and snacks at home but the kitchen had everything needed to cook meals. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bedroom is compact so it took up most of the room. The A/C worked well during the hot and humid week that we were in town. John was quick to assist when we needed a new lightbulb and was friendly and helpful. We found the couch was firm to the point that it didn't encourage long bouts of sitting. Since we were mostly out in the city that wasn't a big problem. I was impressed with the 'little touches' that were included in the apartment: good use of closet hanging rods and hooks in every area for towels and clothes; a hairdryer with diffuser; quality shampoo and soap; and umbrellas. Overall the apartment is attractively furnished as shown in the photos at the website. It is in a great location, well priced, and well-maintained. A good place to rent in a wonderful city to visit!

We had our best family vacation ever in this cute DC condo. We stayed for a week and saw all the sights and had a fabulous time. The owner, Eva, was very helpful and charming and even left us a bottle of wine for our stay! One caution is that is was a bit small for our family of four but would be perfect for any visiting couple to our nation's capital.

As advertised, the appartment is in a great location - close to the Metro, which made visiting the sites in DC very easy. The appartment was clean, quiet and had everything we needed. We greatly enjoyed our stay in DC, and a large part was having such a comfortable place to come home to in the evening.

Thanks Eva for a wonderful stay. I was traveling for work and it was SO nice to stay in an apartment, rather than a hotel. Your place was very comfortable (especially the bed) and very clean. I appreciate how responsive you were to my inquiries as well. Thanks so much again.

We stayed at this charming apartment for four days and found it very comfortable, clean and well-stocked. The neighborhood is beautiful and so much is within walking distance. What made our stay even better was the owner's kindness and helpfulness; she truly went out of her way on several occasions to assist us. Simply a wonderful stay! By the way, two restaurants not to be missed are DC Noodles and Hank's Oyster Bar...both delicious!

I decided to rent the apartment instead of staying at a hotel because of the price and have no regrets whatsoever. The apartment is beautiful, very comfortable and, most importantly for me, in a perfect location. In the 4 nights I spent in Washington I simply walked everywhere I wanted, for the apartment is very well located. Also, the owner and her assistants are very kind and quick to answer doubts. I would definitely stay there again and have no reservations in recommending this apartment for anyone willling for a comfortable stay in DC.
