When you look out from the porch or master bedroom, you understand why they called the mountains the Blue Ridge. Every evening you have the pleasure of looking out at these beautiful blue mountains and the calming effect is very noticable. Such a great picture and pleasure. The house was a little smaller than I expected, but is good for 4 to 5 people. The instructions for the gas fireplace were a little confusing, so we never used the fireplace. I don't recall having seen any information for the heat, but it got cold enough while we were there that the furnace turned on. Didn't ever have to use the air conditioner. The property was clean and neat. There is no back yard as the property drops off under the porch, but that was not a concern for us. The location is good as you can easily get to two other states within minutes. Cards are available in the cabin listing places of interest. The cards did not show addresses for these places and most people use Garmins or such, so the address would be more helpful than latitude and longitude. All in all, we certainly did get rest and relaxation, and got to visit Tennessee and Georgia more than once. We enjoyed oue time there and hope to return real soon. One other thing, I hope you plan to put a railing on the back side of the walkway to the cabin as it felt a little "dangerous" without a handrail on both sides.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

What an amazing place! My husband and I just spent a week at the chalet and did not want to leave! The minute we pulled into the driveway, the view just took our breath away! And the view from the upstairs master bedroom..WOW! Our first morning there, we sat up in the bed and looked out to see fog over the mountains below us! We spent every morning having our coffee on the deck while enjoying the spectacular view. The colors in the evening sky-as the sun was going - Awesome! The pictures on your website are beautiful but they just don't compare to the real thing. We were in constant awe of the beauty surrounding us! The owners are so nice and they make sure everything you need is there. The chalet is nicely decorated, beds are comfortable and everything is so neat & clean. We have been to the mountains of NC many times, but we both agreed this was the Best place we have ever stayed - and plan to come back again. I called it "home" all week because thats what is feels like. The location is great - everything is so close. No matter what direction you take, you can go to various parts of NC (Franklin,Bryson City, Andrews, Highlands) or Georgia (Hiawassee, Young Harris) or into Tennessee. The town of Murphy is quaint, friendly and peaceful; enjoyed visiting the Museum downtown. Nice variety of restaurants-something for everyone. Check out Fosters Flea Market on Blairsville Hwy and while you are there, stop by the Back Creek Pottery exhibit. You have to meet Ed Siler - his wife makes all the pottery and he is quite a character; knows alot about local history! We enjoyed a visit to the John C. Campbell Folk School and a drive on the Cherohala Skyway is a MUST - breath taking scenery! Mike and Judy, Thank You so much for sharing your piece of heaven with us. It was the perfect place to spend our 25th wedding anniversary - an amazing week from beginning to end. I would recommend this chalet to everyone!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband and I spent last week (March 3rd - 10th) at the chalet. The owners were very nice and easy to work with and called us the first night to make sure everything was ok. We've stayed in several cabins before around the Murphy area and this one was among the best- - easy to access, very clean and well-maintained, great views, had every kitchen convenience to cook a good meal and was in a good location to many area attractions and activities. The view from the upstairs (loft) master bedroom is wonderful- -great view to wake up to in the morning, and the mountain views from the deck are beautiful. The town of Murphy itself is very quaint, the area is peaceful, and the cabin is also close to Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Blairsville and of course many national parks (Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park, Nantahala, Pisgah, etc). We'll definitely keep this cabin on our "go to" list for future trips!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband Frank and I stayed in this gorgeous piece of Heaven for Thanksgiving. The view is beyond words and pictures don't come close to the actual beauty of the view. We were fortunate enough to be able to sit on the spacious deck to enjoy the view. The chalet itself is almost as gorgeous as the view. Everything was perfect. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook and serve from a simple to a gourmet meal. The bed is very comfortable. In fact it's so comfy I didn't want to get up some mornings. From the loft bedroom you wake up to the spectacular view. Frank and I went to Brothers Restaurant for Thanksgiving. It was delicious ! We also ate at Shoebooties(delicious one time and not so good the second time). The only damper was when I stepped outside one morning to go to my car and ended up on my butt !! I didn't realize that the temperatures in NC get below freezing !! Of course I just laughed because we come from New Hampshire and should be prepared for frost/ice this time of year. I just thought it was always warm in NC. We will definitely be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Judy and MIke- We LOVED our weekend at the Chalet. The directions were great as we got there Friday night. Saturday morning after the fog burned off we were treated to a post card view of fall in the mountains. It was SPECTACULAR. The Chalet was immaculate with instructions for all appliances and maps for all the local places to go. I especially enjoyed my coffee on the deck Sunday morning. I was revelling in the absolute quietness when I heard a turkey clucking in the forest. I used to patrol the woods in NY in my youth and NEVER heard a turkey. Truly Amazing ! Your chalet was the perfect spot for our 25th anniversary and we will definitely be back. The only downside is we only had the weekend to spend there, we would love to live in your Chalet but the commute to Atlanta would be a little much. See you next year!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My wife and I recently spent four nights at the Windy Ridge Chalet in Martin Creek, NC. It was a wonderful stay. The cabin is so well equipped, so well maintained and so spotlessly clean that we felt immediately at home. I recommend this cabin for anyone who wants to have a quiet, peaceful stay with a million dollar view. You will not be disappointed.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We just spent one of our most restful vacations ever, at Windy Ridge Chalet. We (my husband and I) stayed two weeks at the chalet, and it was wonderful. During the first part of our stay, we attended weekend classes at John C. Campbell Folk School (about a 15-minute drive), our purpose for vacationing in the area. Once our classes were finished, we did some tourist travel in the area – day trip to Chattanooga to Chickamauga and Lookout Mountain Civil War Battlefield sites, saw a few TVA dams in the area, took a drive to Foxfire Museum in northeast Georgia, and played around in Murphy’s antique stores, yarn shop, and gem store, to name a few. We're older so we chose activities that fit senior citizens, but I saw whitewater rafting and other activities that would be fun for younger visitors only a few miles away. There was plenty of sightseeing to do, but most valuable of all was sitting on the deck at sunrise and sunset, or sitting on the deck in the afternoon with a good book. The home was quiet, clean, safe, and well-equipped (washer, dryer, and dishwasher), and local people were very friendly. The property owners were very helpful as we planned our stay, and they created a home that felt like it was ours. Without question, we would stay here again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
