My husband and I spent last week (March 3rd - 10th) at the chalet. The owners were very nice and easy to work with and called us the first night to make sure everything was ok. We've stayed in several cabins before around the Murphy area and this one was among the best- - easy to access, very clean and well-maintained, great views, had every kitchen convenience to cook a good meal and was in a good location to many area attractions and activities. The view from the upstairs (loft) master bedroom is wonderful- -great view to wake up to in the morning, and the mountain views from the deck are beautiful. The town of Murphy itself is very quaint, the area is peaceful, and the cabin is also close to Blue Ridge, Ellijay, Blairsville and of course many national parks (Great Smoky Mountains Nat'l Park, Nantahala, Pisgah, etc). We'll definitely keep this cabin on our "go to" list for future trips!

My husband Frank and I stayed in this gorgeous piece of Heaven for Thanksgiving. The view is beyond words and pictures don't come close to the actual beauty of the view. We were fortunate enough to be able to sit on the spacious deck to enjoy the view. The chalet itself is almost as gorgeous as the view. Everything was perfect. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook and serve from a simple to a gourmet meal. The bed is very comfortable. In fact it's so comfy I didn't want to get up some mornings. From the loft bedroom you wake up to the spectacular view. Frank and I went to Brothers Restaurant for Thanksgiving. It was delicious ! We also ate at Shoebooties(delicious one time and not so good the second time). The only damper was when I stepped outside one morning to go to my car and ended up on my butt !! I didn't realize that the temperatures in NC get below freezing !! Of course I just laughed because we come from New Hampshire and should be prepared for frost/ice this time of year. I just thought it was always warm in NC. We will definitely be back.

Judy and MIke- We LOVED our weekend at the Chalet. The directions were great as we got there Friday night. Saturday morning after the fog burned off we were treated to a post card view of fall in the mountains. It was SPECTACULAR. The Chalet was immaculate with instructions for all appliances and maps for all the local places to go. I especially enjoyed my coffee on the deck Sunday morning. I was revelling in the absolute quietness when I heard a turkey clucking in the forest. I used to patrol the woods in NY in my youth and NEVER heard a turkey. Truly Amazing ! Your chalet was the perfect spot for our 25th anniversary and we will definitely be back. The only downside is we only had the weekend to spend there, we would love to live in your Chalet but the commute to Atlanta would be a little much. See you next year!!

My wife and I recently spent four nights at the Windy Ridge Chalet in Martin Creek, NC. It was a wonderful stay. The cabin is so well equipped, so well maintained and so spotlessly clean that we felt immediately at home. I recommend this cabin for anyone who wants to have a quiet, peaceful stay with a million dollar view. You will not be disappointed.

We just spent one of our most restful vacations ever, at Windy Ridge Chalet. We (my husband and I) stayed two weeks at the chalet, and it was wonderful. During the first part of our stay, we attended weekend classes at John C. Campbell Folk School (about a 15-minute drive), our purpose for vacationing in the area. Once our classes were finished, we did some tourist travel in the area – day trip to Chattanooga to Chickamauga and Lookout Mountain Civil War Battlefield sites, saw a few TVA dams in the area, took a drive to Foxfire Museum in northeast Georgia, and played around in Murphy’s antique stores, yarn shop, and gem store, to name a few. We're older so we chose activities that fit senior citizens, but I saw whitewater rafting and other activities that would be fun for younger visitors only a few miles away. There was plenty of sightseeing to do, but most valuable of all was sitting on the deck at sunrise and sunset, or sitting on the deck in the afternoon with a good book. The home was quiet, clean, safe, and well-equipped (washer, dryer, and dishwasher), and local people were very friendly. The property owners were very helpful as we planned our stay, and they created a home that felt like it was ours. Without question, we would stay here again!

We had a wonderful visit in your cabin for 10 days in July. The views were outstanding, the house was very clean and tidy, and very spacious with the 4 of us. The kitchen was wonderfully stocked and the beds really comfortable. The neighbors were very kind and courteous. The driveway is not too steep and the gravel road to the entrance was not too long. It was wonderful to sit out on the wrap around balcony and watch the majesty and peacefulness of the mountains. There is also alot to do in and around Murphy and 10 days certainly was not enough time to do everything we wanted to do!!! All in all, it was a perfect vacation...thank you Judy and Mike for allowing us to use your home in the mountains!! We will recommend it to all our friends

We stayed at Windy Ridge Chalet November 27, 28 & 29th, 2010. We've stayed at many similar places over the years, but this was a real treat: nothing less than excellent. This Chalet offers comfortable and elegantly decorated fully equipped accommodations with excellent vistas of the spectacular mountain country of western North Carolina. Nearby you can drive the Joe Brown Highway, a part of the Trail of Tears. If you have a vehicle that can handle "dirt/gravel road" travel, you can follow the Joe Brown Highway all the way into Tennessee. Along the way you will pass though vast forests of Rhododendron, and you will see breathtaking views from where the road crosses mountaintops thousands of feet high. At the Tennessee - North Carolina border there are plaques with commentary about the history of the Trail of Tears. If you enjoy long scenic rides, about 55 miles northeast of the Chalet is the Cherohala Skyway, which follows along some of the highest peaks into Tellico Plains Tennessee. To say "The views are majestic" is an understatement. Another wonderful nearby scenic area begins about 35 miles northeast along route 74 (heading toward Bryson City). A right-hand turn off route 74, about 11 miles past Andrews, is Wayah Road, which follows the Nantahala River. You will see dozens of waterfalls along the way, some quite large, all very beautiful. We had a fabulous time in and around the Murphy area, and other parts of western North Carolina, during our stay at the Windy Ridge Chalet. To the south is Nottely Lake, to the southeast is Chatuge Lake, to the northeast is The Road to Nowhere, and to the northwest is Hiwassee Lake, and slightly further west is Fields of the Wood (about 18 miles). All around is fabulous mountain country with an abundance of antique shops, craft shops, and places such as the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. The Windy Ridge Chalet stands on its own merit, but having so many historic and scenic places nearby makes it stand out from all the others as a vacation spot. We plan on returning to the Chalet in the near future, as our experience there was truly wonderful.

I would like to begin by saying from the moment we pulled up in front of the Chalet in Murphy NC to the moment we left (which we certainly didn't want to do!) our stay was nothing less than glorious! Just being in the mountains and enjoying the beautiful scenery including the amazing sunsets was so wonderful! We loved the little town of Murphy and the great places to eat which we seemed to do plenty of while we were there! :) There are so many places to visit such as numerous waterfalls, Field in the Woods, The Lost Sea and then discovering WHITEWATER RAFTING both on the Nantahala River and then onto the Ocoee River was OUT OF THIS WORLD! I highly recommend to anyone if you want to absolutely escape you couldn't go anyplace better! Whether you want to kick back and just relax and enjoy the scenery or if you want to go out and visit the sights you could do all right here at the Chalet in Murphy.

The chalet was very comfortable, clean and exactly what we expected. But the view, oh yes, the view exceeded our expectations. Like they say, you have to see it to believe it. I would recommend Judy and Mike's Chalet to any one looking for a reasonable rate and located close to everything you would want in North Carolina. The area is beautiful and easy to get around with lots to do out doors. If you like to shoot there's an excellent gun range only 7-8 miles from the Chalet. Take 64 west to rt on 294 to rt on Panther Top go down Panther Top about 2 miles and you'll see the signs for the National Forest shooting range on the right - $2 and shoot all day long. Take a week and visit their Chalet. You will not be disappointed.

The chalet was exactly as described in the listing. The mountain view was fantastic. It only took five minutes to have the cabin ready to live in. The owners provided clear and accurate instructions for operating all of the amenities (and there were many) as well as the basic operation of the appliances and entertainment systems. The decor was pure mountain home and everything in the place said "Welcome" in it's own way. I would recommend this place to anyone seeking a quiet, relaxing opportunity to just unwind.

Email Address: debbossetti@aol.com <-- Will appear online Hometown: DeGraff, Ohio <-- Will appear online Phone Number: 937-585-2960 <-- Will appear online Comment rating: Positive Comments: I stayed from June 12 - 19, 2010. I attended the John C. Campbell Folk School which is only 4 - 6 miles away. Very easy to get to school. I also went to Franklin rock gem mining only 1 hr. away. The chalet is more than the pictures can tell. Very peaceful, quiet, no noise of neighbors, the only noise is a very pleasant wren singing to me every morning. The deck is gorgeous looking to the mountains every minute of the day or night sitting and drinking coffee or eating on the deck. Murphy is a town only 6 miles away with everything from WalMart to very good Rib Country Restaurant which was my favorite. Very beautiful deco inside and outside of the chalet. The chalet has everything you have at home such as washer, dryer, plates, etc. all kitchen utensils (if you want to cook), Dish tv, showers, tubs, couches every thing to live. I would highly recommend this to people who will appreciate the beautiful peaceful world to be in while there. The pictures do not enough for the chalet it is more beautiful in person. I was shocked to see it was so much more than the pictures. It was awesome and I would go back any minute I could to be there.

I've only been back from vacation for a week or so, and I'm already dying to be back at Windy Ridge! The chalet is beautiful, clean, welcoming and homey, and don't get me started on the view... Waking up in the morning to a warm fireplace, a cup of coffee, and that incredible view is nothing short of paradise. It is the perfect place to get away from the rat race of daily living and just breathe, or jump right in to the hustle and bustle of the towns nearby for some sight seeing or outdoor adventures. I'm thankful for the opportunity that I got to stay there, and cannot wait to return!

This was my third stay at the Windy Ridge Chalet. In early March we were able to experience the good parts of all the seasons with none of the associated troubles. Early in the week there was just enough snow to play in and it wasn't cold. It rained lightly but didn't storm. We even pushed together a leaf pile to jump in. As always, the Chalet was spotless upon arrival, cozy and comfortable throught our stay. We will continue to be return visitors!

Hi Mike and Judy...Sorry that we haven't gotten back to you earlier we had such a great time at the chalet. It was sooooo beautiful and cozy that there were a couple of days that we just stayed in and enjoyed the peace and quiet. We were able to still enjoy the colorful leaves before they went away. We hated to leave..Thanks again for your hospitality. Lyn and Kyle

This chalet is really pretty and has an excellent view of the mountains/scenery. We had a good time visiting the surrounding towns and it was easy to have a nice relaxing time as a family in the evenings in this chalet. We all enjoyed this vacation and would recommend this chalet to a family looking for a nice place to stay while vacationing in the mountains of NC.

The amazing view is not over hyped here - it is amazing! We found the view was different every day with the clouds being below or above you. I camped out on the balcony every chance I could. Really a great place. The access road was easy to drive but the area was still very quite. I never even saw the neighbors. What a great place.

I was so inspired by my stay at Windy Ridge Chalet I penned this poem to commerate my time there: Bless me once, bless me twice Misty Mountain paradise. Rock my soul with gentle ease To songs in the carried breeze. Windy Ridge, 'ere far I roam. 'Tis back to thee Home Sweet Home. -SA Martin 2009 I will definitely stay at Windy Ridge again!

We have stayed at this chalet many times. We love the view and the tranquility. It is fully furnished with everything you need, which is nice so you don't have to go out and eat every day while on vacation. It's almost like our home away from home, can't wait to return!!!
