Same Building as Hilton Hotel-Sunny Apartment - Stunning Views
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
The Molino Stucky Condominium and the New Molino Stucky HILTON are in the same building, with the Hilton occupying the left side and the Condominium occupying the right side (please see the picture on the left). The same developer did both simultaneously, so we share the same marble bathrooms, large air conditioned rooms and other amenities. The main difference is that the Hilton charges a minimum of € 400 per day for a ROOM, and we charge a minimum of € 150 per day for an ENTIRE APARTMENT.
My condominiums are located in a charming 18th century building overlooking the largest canal in Venice. Watch the parade of boats, from gondolas and private launches to vaporettos and ocean liners, from the privacy of your window. See Piazza San Marco's bell tower and the Salute Church. Watch the people on the Zattere in Dorsoduro on the other side of the canal going to and fro among the traditional three-pronged Venetian street lights. In the evening, look at the sun set over the stunning snow-capped Dolomites.
Our apartments are in the famous antique Molino Stucky, a charming 18th century flour mill that has just been rebuilt as Venice's premier residence. In fact, we share our island with the world famous Cipriani Hotel and Hilton Hotel. Our apartments were just recently totally renovated and furnished, and were just placed into service in the last few years. They are all bright, comfortable and quiet (with special double glazed windows) and are available all year.
My lovely one bedroom apartment has terrazzo floors and wonderful canal AND mountain views. The apartment has an enormous red marble bathroom with an oversize bathtub with shower, toilet and bidet; it even has a washing machine for your clothes. The apartment has a sleeper couch in the living room and therefore sleeps four people. It is situated high on the fifth floor and is reached by a self-service elevator, a rare commodity in Venice.
The apartment has central air conditioning and heat that you may directly control through a thermostat in the living room.
Cooking is a nice way to save money when traveling with a large family, and we try to make it as easy as possible. My kitchen is fully equipped, including all pots, pans, silverware, glasses and dishes that you could possibly need. All this and a dishwasher to clean up with after your meals. I have also provided color TVs and a stereo with a CD player, as well as an iron and ironing board. The apartment is also provided with its own mobile phone.
Finally, when renting a private home in Venice, always be careful to ask if there is an elevator. The great majority of Venetian buildings have no elevator because the Landmarks Ministry (the "Belle Arte") forbids their installation in antique buildings. As a result, bringing a family with luggage up several flights of stairs can present quite a problem. This has been solved in our building by the installation of two fully automatic elevators for your convenience.
My apartment is sunny and bright, and has a stunning water AND mountain view. My apartment is non-smoking, and family owned and operated. In short, I have remodeled and furnished this apartment to my own high standards because I am a mother and my kids spend about three months a year here in Venice occupying it.
Please Note: We have Two Additional, Identically Appointed, Apartments Available In the Same Condominium Building; One Is A Larger One-Bedroom Apartment And The Other Is A Two-Bedroom Apartment. Perfect for larger groups traveling together!

This is a long review, sorry. Let me say up front that I have rented from VRBO for many years and have nothing but positive experiences all over the world. This was unfortunately not one. When reading the description on VRBO be aware that everything in the listing refers to the owner’s 2-bedroom apartment and not the 1-bedroom units, even though she states that ALL her apartments have the SAME amenities. All of the photos and descriptions are of the 2-bedroom and the amenities are for the 2-bedroom as well. These listings should be separate as it is very deceptive. The apartment does not look onto the Dorsoduro, but actually looks onto the cruise terminal and industrial area. Yes, you can see the Guidecca Canal and you do see activity of boats going back and forth, but not as shown in the photos. There is NO telephone, the satellite TV has NO English stations (I just read the news on my computer), and there is NO coffee maker (there is a French Press and a stovetop espresso pot, which was fine for us). The linens were horrible. The towels were terribly thin and worn and the bath towel was about the size of a large hand towel. There was only one set of towels for each of us for a 5 night stay; not even one extra towel. Only one dish towel as well. The pillows were like rocks. There was an extra pillow in the closet but there were no pillow cases. Poor communication with the owner with incorrect phone numbers and delayed responses to emails. There was conflicting information as to which apartment we were assigned. The first confirmation indicated the 1-bedroom unit and the following confirmations indicated the 2-bedroom unit. I made an assumption (my bad!) that the owner had changed the assignment to the 2-bedroom, as her contract states that the apartment is subject to change. When I emailed the owner from France to indicate that I had a family issue back home and phone access was imperative, she assured me that there were two phones; one for local calls and one to call the US. That is only in the 2-bedroom. When I called the housekeeper one week in advance as requested, she did not know I was coming so I called the owner who was rather abrupt with me and seemed to be disturbed that I called her. She assured me that all was in order and I would be in the 2-bedroom. Then the day I was arriving I received an email that I was in the 1-bedroom. The apt. is in a lovely location, great shuttle service, OK apt. Just know what you are renting.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

When we arrived we inquired about how to use the advertised central a/c. The owners representative told us the a/c was turned off and we could not use it despite the warm temperatures. We finally convinced her to turn on the a/c. Then we found out by reading the owners apartment manual for renters that the a/c was turned off by the building from 9pm until 9am. The book advised to run the a/c during the day to cool the apartment and then shut it off at night and open the windows. We did so. Then we found that by opening the windows we invited in scores of hungry mosquitos. We spent days killing them and being bitten by them. We also found the apartment to be in a nice location but isolated from restaurants and nightlife and sights. Essentially we had to take the Vaporretto (water bus) to eat, find groceries and sights. If you like quiet, the location is great.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Having been in Venice before and over-paid for a small Hotel room, we were pleasantly surprised to see a new apartment listed on VRBO at a reasonable price. My wife and I spent 9 days in the two bedroom unit with another couple. The listing description was very accurate and directions given us got us right there from the airport. The property is very new, has a high-speed computer, local phone and LD phone back to states - almost like living at home. There are vaporetto stops about 200 yards in each direction, but more important is the Hilton shuttle boat that leaves every 20 minutes for Zattere and St Mark's. There are good restaurants closeby on the island, but we found we preferred the many good restaurants across the water on Dorsoduro, Only bad things in October are the mosquitos in your room and high tide flooding in Piazza San Marco, but smaller crowds and pleasant temps more than make up for that. Would definitely recommend this property to others.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.

fabulous location, well organized shuttle to/from town. Be sure to explore the island. We took water vaparetto to airport rather than return as directions had us come - also very easy. Apartment spotless, well appointed, very comfortable. Great choice for us!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway.

We rented the two bedroom apt. The apt. was not ready when we arrived in the late afternoon, as the dishes were not done and the sheets were just layed on the sofa. We were suprised as the kitchen had only 1 small towel, no dishwasher detergent, and no paper towels. We were given inaccurate info as to the location of the nearest grocery store. All of this was acceptable and no big deal. The main problem was the master bath shower/tub drain was plugged. We called the manager who put in liquid drain opener which never worked. There were 6 of us and only 1 shower to use for 3 days. The dryer switch was broken and my wife got an electrical shock when she tried to use it.. This was our first visit to Venice and I learned when we got there that this apt is not in the main part of Venice, but on an island accross the large channel where the cruise ships sail on. The view was very niceDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had a corner unit so that we could look and see the vaporettos coming and going at the dock and the wonderful view across the channel. It was a great location for gazing out the windows and the condo was very comfortable. There was a little miscommunication about when to meet to get the key to our condo. But other than that, we really enjoyed our stay here. The place has stunning views from unit 19. Very convenient to everything Venice from this location. Buy a vaporetto pass either before you arrive or when you get here as individual tickets are now 7 euros each. We were here for 4 nights and used the vaporetto enough to get the price down to one or two euros per trip. Expect to get lost, lost, and in Venice. If getting lost bothers you, take a Zanex. The best part of Venice was being on this side and looking out at it and being able to get away from the crowds. Keep in mind that all of Italy has an issue with paper. There is seldom if ever paper towels or kleenex and check the tp upon arrival. You may have to go buy some. On the other hand, people have left all kinds of stuff behind including at least 10-20 Venice travel guides. If you come by train, call at least a half an hour out and keep calling until you get through. If you come by plane, call as soon as you get off the plane.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed in the 2 BR Molino Stucky condo over the holidays. It was perfect, with wonderful conveniences and unbelievable views from all the windows. We parked our car in the Tronchetto lot and a few vaporetto stops later, Angelita the housekeeper met us on the boardwalk and we were in! All this for a fraction of a hotel price. Plus, you look at Venice across the Canal and you're away from all the hassle. The free Hilton shuttle runs at least hourly, or buy a pass and scoot all over Venice without headaches. There are several grocery stores nearby to stock the modern kitchen, and we liked exploring the alleys of Giudecca some nights when we were tired of the Venice hustle/bustle. There's a washer and dryer, and architecturally the flat is gorgeous. Huge bathrooms too. Go to the adjacent Hilton and see what they charge for the same view, and you'll rent Jane's place tout suite!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The apartment and location were very good. We were a short walk to the Hilton water taxi and the views were very nice. However, we had considerable difficulty reaching the owner after we thought we had booked the apartment. We emailed our credit card information and, when the charge did not appear, sent several emails to inquire. The owner did not respond. The phone number the owner included in earlier emails was apparently to a non-functioning phone. We made a dozen phone calls to that number without success. The owner answered one call, said she could not hear, requested that I email, and then did not respond to the email. We arrived in Venice without directions to the apartment and without knowing whether we had secured the apartment. We had to hire a guide ($90) to find the apartment and, once we found it, no one was there to meet us. Fortunately, a local business was able to reach the agent. Because we thought we had paid by credit card, we did not have enough cash to pay for the apartment. The agent required cash before she could leave. It was late in the day and the banks were closed. Once again, we were fortunate because the agent was able to use her own bank card to get us into the secure area where the cash machine was located. Our bank card could not open the security door. The apartment did not have Internet. But for the lack of responsiveness on the owner's part and the misinformation about the Internet, we would have rated this apartment higher.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
