Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1999
I am a retired school teacher that loves to spend winter months on the beach. In the summer I travel to our house in Maine.
Why the Owner Chose Carrabelle Beach
When my husband and I retired, we chose to move to Carrabelle because of the unique characteristics of this small fishing town. Quiet but not too remote and is within an hour's drive to Tallahassee where there are large department stores, movie theaters, museums, universities with great football games and an airport.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Just getting up early in the morning and watching the sun come up. Sitting on the front porch and enjoying the day's first cup of coffee. Walking on the beach always provides something new to see.

I have stayed in many vacation rental homes and this was by far the best. The house is very clean and comfortable. Mary and Max are wonderful people with the God given gift of making you feel special and welcome. Mary thinks of every possible need and is an angel in disguise when it comes to helping you find your way around. We had a wonderful time and would highly reccomend this home to all. From the screened porch with rocking chair to the jetted tub and the most comfortable beds, this home was top notched. If you stay elsewhere, you are missing a great home and great people.
Owner response:We strive to make everyone who stays at Bella Mar comfortable and happy. Carrabelle is a small fishing village with not a lot to do except fish or relax on the front porch. We have the front porch to relax on, the beach to enjoy, or we can fix you up with a fishing charter. For quick get away for the week-end or a week's stay, Bella Mar is the place.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
Our Florida's Forgotten Coast Base Camp

What a great place to use as a base camp to explore Florida's Forgotten Coast. Our family is involved with photography, both still and video, and is the focus of most of our vacations. Bella Mar and Carrabelle was an excellent choice. From here we ranged east to St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge (what a great lighthouse) and Wakulla Springs. Then west to St. Joseph Pennisula, Cape San Blas lighthouse, St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge, St. George Island, and the beautiful town of Apalachicola. We saw four lighthouses, numerous sea birds as well as eagles and osprey on multiple occasions. It was great to come home each evening to Bella Mar and enjoy the freedom to take a walk on the beach just across the street, US 98. We captured great sunrise photos each morning while the coffee was making and also several sundown photos as well. Mary was most helpful in arranging our stay and giving great input on were to eat and were to see the eagles and osprey. Ole Salt's was a very unusual place but the kind we love and the food was great. Carrabelle itself was a great place to capture sunset photos looking up the river. Want to return some day and try kayaking. We could not have had a more desirable place to stay.

Karen and I and the boys had a great time here at Bellamar. It was very nice being able to come in and relax between fishing trips. The house was very clean and had all the amenities you could ask for. I am sure we will be seeing you all again, as we counting on learning more about the fishing here at Carrabelle. Thanks again.

What a wonderful place to stay! Mary was an absolute angel. She was there at all times, if needed. Our family was able to relax and enjoy ourselves. We would recommend this house to anyone. We are already planning for next year! There is nothing that we would change.

Today was one of the most enjoyable days in our lives. A place & time when you could wish upon a star for time to stop for a while. Blessed with beautiful weather. The most fun & exciting boat ride with Mr. Max cutting through the waves with wind in your face. Catching bait & fish; watching the dolphins jumping all around you. You can't help but stop and thank God for all His creations. The Bellamar accomidations are absolutely beautiful, warm and comfortable. What an enjoyable memory I can carry with me through the rest of my trip. Thanks to Mary & Max and all the wonderful people I met there.
