I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here in August 2011. I was looking for a rural "retreat" for relaxation. This house has great views of the water. I enjoyed watching ferries and other boats sailing by. The sound of the lapping waves was very soothing. It is also surrounded by some incredibly tall trees. The visuals of the swaying trees and the sounds as the wind blew through the giant trees was also relaxing. Deer are plentiful on this island and frequently make appearances on the property. I have to admit that driving on Gabriola was the only non-relaxing part of my vacation as I had several close calls with deer at dusk and after nightfall. The highlights of the house for me were the amazing hot tub, and the many comfortable chairs that were just perfect for enjoying some summer reading. The hosts were extremely helpful and answered any questions that I had. My dog enjoyed the huge yard, and we also explored several of the local trails. If I am ever heading this way again, I will definitely check to see if it is available. I give this property top marks for its relaxation effects, and for its privacy.

This is a fantastic place for a group. Lots of space so you are not on top of each other. Beautiful bedrooms - very private and great views. The kitchen is fabulous and very large, which is great, since it always seems to be a gathering place. My only complaint is that the time there was too short and we didn't get to explore the island. I would definitely recommend this destination.

The home and grounds were clean, spacious, well-quipped and homey. We felt instantly at home and relaxed as we read books and looked out over the ocean, The grounds were lovely and the beds/sheets were better than any high-end hotel we've stayed at! We cooked a lot of meals in the large wall-equipped kitchen and dined in the dining room over looking the ocean. The decorating was very much to our taste and reminded us of our home. It was such a comfortable stay that our daughter asked to spend her 15th birthday this summer at the house and we had a nice celebration for her on August 16. This rental was one of the best places we have ever stayed. Thanks!

Just returned from our annual Canadian Thanksgiving vacation. Our group (of a few families), has, traditionally, spent Thanksgiving in vacation homes across BC, for over a decade now. This Gabriola home stands out in a class of its own!! I would highly recommend this luxurious home to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. From the deer roaming in the front yard, to the cruise ships sailing by in the distance off the back porch, this was truly a beautiful setting. The fireplaces in every bedroom added to the warm, cozy atmosphere of the entire home, and, everyone, from the young children to the grandparents in our group, found themselves well catered to. In every little detail, it is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into making this a vacation home to be remembered, and it was much appreciated by each and every one of us. Thank you Anne & Rob!

Our family (two adults and two children) and two other families (two adults and one child; one adult and one child) spent a week at Gabriola Gables Estates. We had such a wonderful time at this home, which is beautifully designed and immaculately maintained. The kitchen is large and modern and suited our needs to a T. The ensuited bedrooms are spacious and elegant; our children were thrilled to be able to share rooms with their friends and get away from their parents! They also adored the hot tub! The view across the sound to the Sunshine Coast was spectacular. The home isn't far from wonderful hikes in the woods and is a close drive to several beaches, where we spent many hours swimming, beachcombing, and exploring. It also boasts a large, mown yard where we played a lot of baseball and soccer. Our hosts were fabulous, providing us with all the information we needed to make our trip a comfortable one. This is a vacation we all will forever remember!

We stayed at Gabriola Gables for a week in July 2009. The house is beautiful, with a well-equipped gourmet kichen. The property is very beautifully landscaped and the views from the back of the house are breath-taking. We saw a bald eagle many times during our stay. The island is very restful. We went to a concert at The Haven, explored the farmer's market and marina, and went to the local farms for fresh eggs, vegetables and meat.

Our daughter was married at Gabriola Gables in June 2010. One could not imagine a more perfect setting or venue. The grounds are ideally suited for a smaller wedding (about 70 guests in our case). The wedding ceremony took place on a grassy bench above the ocean. The backdrop of snow-capped mountains and blue ocean framed by tall fir trees was as good as it gets. A lawn behind the house was a perfect location for the large tent we set up for the reception. The meal was catered by Chef Jonah from the nearby Silva Bay Resort. He was able to use the kitchen at Gabriola Gables to produce a meal which was universally raved about. A number of out of town family members stayed at Gabriola Gables the week following the wedding and spoke very highly of its comfort, its generous kitchen and dining facilities, the ocean views and the absolute quiet. For our daughter and our guests this was the perfect venue for such an occasion. We would highly recommend Gabriola Gables to others considering a wedding on Gabriola or simply for a family vacation.
