We returned yesterday from a stay at Ole Blue. It was PERFECT! The owners are so nice, by phone and email, they made making the reservation so easy. The description on this web site is spot on! We were a group on three families from NC, FL and the UK, ranging in ages from 9-73! It was so nice to send the kids into the rec room and have adult time on the main floor. The kids spent a lot of time exploring around the cabin with a metal detector (maybe a small garbage can on the decks for bottle caps would be a good idea!) we now have a great collection of them! We cooked in the cabin every night. The kitchen has everything you need! We took a boat tour of the Lake, we used the marina in the Rumbling Bald resort. It was great, the guide was full of information about the lake and it's residents. We also used Canopy Ridge Zip Lining! This was amazing!! All 12 of us went! We also spent an afternoon at in Village of Chimney Rock, window shopping and sitting on the rocks of the Broad River. Ole Blue was everything we expected it would be and more. Thanks to the owners for sharing it will us!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This house was great! The owner was great and easy to work with. The house was clean and well maintained. The weather was amazing and it was a great location. There were 10 of us staying there and we had more than enough room in the common areas and sleeping arrangements. Some of the girls went fishing while the guys went golfing at the resort. A few of us used the hot tub and heated pool at the resort. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed and had a nice cabin feel to it. There were no issues, no hassles, no stress! If we had more motivation we would have gone hiking. It was wonderful!Recommended for: Adventure seekers.

We visited Ole Blue with friends and had an absolutely wonderful time! The house is beautiful--spacious, attractively decorated, comfortably furnished, very cozy and restful. The bedrooms were lovely and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. We loved the large oak dining room table which seated all six of us with room to spare. The wrap-around deck which overlooks the woods and lake is a peaceful, relaxing space where one can enjoy the scenery or fall asleep in a lounge chair. Rumbling Bald Resort is a fantastic area that contains many wonderful amenities. We particularly enjoyed the guided boat tour on Lake Lure and our visit to Chimney Rock State Park. We dined at Lake View Restaurant which had great food and great views of the lake. We highly recommend staying at this place and plan on another visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a week after Christmas at this home and had a delightful time! The home is spacious with lots of charm. The wood floors, historic character, and convenient updates really make this home shine. The people around the community were so nice and my son enjoyed playing basketball with other boys at the community center. We all enjoyed the deck, fireplaces, and tv's throughout the house. We were able to have plenty of space, which is important when you have three children! The view is outstanding and we couldn't have had a better family vacation! Thanks so much!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

A well deserved and overdue gathering of great friends for a long weekend.. the house was perfect! We had a toddler with us and there were no worries, it was easily childproofed.. We packed way too much because the house had everything we needed. The main level is the gathering area, but with 3 floors there was plenty of privacy also. Love the porch, that is where we were for the majority of our stay.. we had a wonderful time! Strongly recommend this house for a gathering..Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

After staying in this beautiful cabin home the last week of March, 2011, we had to write a review to share how wonderful our experience was. The owners of this cabin home have selected a wonderful location including the resort with all its amenities. The home is very large, enough to comfortably house 8-10 people without becoming crowded. The view is spectacular and the home is very peaceful. This cabin home is a wonderful escape from the everyday rush and race. Thank you for the opportunity to share in the serenity of the Lake Lure village and mountains of North Carolina.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Owner info
About the owner: Across 4 fun filled years, our two families hand crafted this 2700 sq ft mountain reatreat. We have decorated it family memorabilia and rustic charm to make you feel apart of what we have built. Please document your stay and/ or plant a plant if you wish and become a part of Ole Blue. We hope you enjoy building family memories as much as our growing families have. Remember, its all about the family!
Why the Owner Chose Lake Lure:
Western North Carolina is such a beautiful area to visit with Lake Lure being considered the “Gem of the Carolina’s”. It is a wonderful place to vacation. The Rumbling Bald Resort Community, where this home is located, has great amenities for guests to use including the two outdoor pools, lazy river, two golf courses, mini golf, beach and playground on Lake Lure … the list just goes on. Other fun things to do, like horseback riding, and gem mining are only a short drive away. If guests decide to try other activities, Chimney Rock State Park is right down the road, Asheville, NC is less than an hour drive away (home of the Biltmore Estate) That is why I like this location, you can be as active or lazy as you would like!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Built with family fun in mind! Ole Blue has a game room with TV, VCR, DVD, pool table, as well as other fun games to keep every one happy. We also have tons of deck space to enjoy. 'Grillin and chillin' as we say! Also enjoy the local fare such as Stoggins Family Restaurant on 74 going toward Rutherfordton on the left, hamburger steak like its supposed to be!!
