Timberframe Cottage is an extraordinary destination. Private. One a huge piece of oceanfront land, truly an oceanfront Eden. This beautiful cottage has panoramic views of the sea, the twinkling lights of towns and lighthouse beyond the sea. And up close: massive timbers, wood walls, wrought iron hardward, wide pine floors with hand forged nails, an open and exquisite design with big beams, stained glass, antique doors. And Philippe Starck "Bubble Club" outdoor armchairs. Fun.

Among its charming features are a vaulted 14-foot barn wood planked ceilings, heavy trusses, and walls of glass doors for marveling at the incredible expanse of ocean.

This beautiful cottage is an ideal spot for seaside relaxation, sightseeing, whale-watching, antiquing, golf, touring historic homes (some of which date to the 1600s) beach-combing, and swimming.

Cloistered in its verdant setting with delightful rustic-chic decor, Timberframe Cottage might easily be the most handsome cottage available. Entering through the pleasant breezeway, you'll see the breathtaking view sweeping from Plymouth Harbor to your left, to the Gurnet Lighthouse across the water, to Provincetown as you turn east. Stepping inside the open-plan cottage, you'll enter the great room with its 14-foot stone fireplace, timber trusses, and barnwood-planked ceiling. The great room has wide pine floors and antique cupboards with beveled-mirror doors (reflecting the ocean view.) The kitchen runs the length of the great room and has a 14-foot long mahogany island with 2 undermount sinks, convection oven, a 2-drawer stainless dishwasher, and a refrigerator with ice-maker.

The master bedroom, separated from the Great Room by tall antique Ottoman doors (brought back from Cyprus), has a queen-size four-poster British West Indies bed. Here posts and beams create a jewelbox effect with ocean views all around. The bedroom's French doors open to the mahogany deck.

This recently renovated cottage has 2 full baths (with showers) with the upstairs having a mahogany countertop, vessel sink, marble shower with pebble floor, skylights above the shower & toilet. The other bathroom has a shower, vintage pedestal sink, stone walls.

Three sides of the cottage are flanked with French doors, which open to the roomy deck. The open floorplan can accommodate 2 in the Queen master bed, 2 in the double bed, 2 in the bunk beds (really just for kids), and another single adjacent to the double bed.

The lower level has stone walls, off-white carpet, cable TV, fireplace, h/e laundry, and shower bathroom. The oceanfront yard is level, perfect for croquet, frisbee, sunbathing, and relaxation. See 4th of July fireworks (as well as firework displays on some other summer days) as they explode over Plymouth harbor.

This beautiful private spot occupies a stretch of coastline with a rugged, densely vegetated slope overlooks a Maine-like rocky beach. Guests have access to the private sandy beaches belonging to our other nearby listings. The Plymouth's gorgeous Long Beach, with its long, sandy walking paths, is just a mile to the north.

Sightseeing: Just a few miles north is the historic town of Plymouth, with Plymouth Rock, Plimoth Plantation (like a trip in a time-machine trip to 1620) antique shops, fish restaurants, lobster fleet, and whale-watching and deep sea fishing cruises. Cape Cod is 10 miles to the South. Just over the Sagamore Bridge is Sandwich (one of the Cape's most charming towns) with its glass museum, Heritage Plantation, antique shops, historic homes, and restaurants. Your daytrips to the Cape can end back home at the Timberframe cottage, where you will be free from the traffic backups that trap so many other vacationers.

If you look closely, you will see that this destination stands apart from other vacation homes in its style and comfort. If you've ever worried that your summer rental would be shabby or tacky, crowded with cast-off furniture and depressing decor, put your mind at rest. This choice little lodge has been designed to capture your heart with first-rate amenities in an inspiring private oceanside location.

If BayShore cottage is booked for your important dates, please consider our other high quality listings. The beauty and comfort of your surroundings is our top priority.

Owner's Map of Manomet

To me, creating the perfect waterfront getaway home is an art form. My lifelong career had been in designing publications, and later creating magazine illustrations (google "robin jareaux") and painting expressionistic works on canvas. When I first decided to rent my weekend home so I could renovate an incredible but dilapidated cottage (which became, at great expense, "Timberframe Cottage") I did not know this would become my work and my passion. Working in 2d was fun and rewarding, but my new ART is creating vacation homes that themselves are 'works of art.' My goal with my homes is to create a setting that exceeds your expectations, and in turn, your patronage lets me continue my art form a few more years. Please read the guest comments to see the generous and enthusiastic compliments we've received. Finding just the right furnishings, using classic Nantucket decor, using materials such as massive beams, barnwood ceilings, wide pine floors, RL sheets, antique cabinets, and creating gardens overflowing with roses and peonies, clematis, daylilies, gigantic buried stepping stones, blueberries, raspberries, foxgloves (can you tell it is June as I write this?) expanses of mahogany countertop, fine appliances, stone fireplaces, stained glass, with views that will take your breath away. Please look at "all my rental listings" to see my portfolio: art in the form of unique and exceptional vacation getaways. It is a labor of love... for you.

An Amazing Week of Relaxation

Guest: Carrie (Little Falls, NJ)
Date of Stay: 08/23/11 Review Submitted: 09/01/11

This house was everything I'd hoped for. My husband & I craved relaxation and peace on the water, and got it! Despite the minor disruption caused by Hurricane Irene for a day (thanks for bringing over the flashlights and the bottle of wine), we had a fantastic week. Robin's home was gorgeous, tasteful, well appointed, clean and nicely maintained. All the comforts of home, in a beautiful location. In nearby Plymouth, we saw Plymouth Rock, Mayflower II & more than a few Humpback Whales (Capt. John) - Cafe Strega and the Lobster Pound were highlights. Thanks so much, Robin, for allowing us to bring Jake, our lab. A beloved member of our family, he goes everywhere with us, and we won't leave home without him.

(from an email sent after departure) "Hi Robin,...Well, we made it home late Sunday evening... a long road trip but well worth it for the three wonderful weeks we enjoyed in Manomet. Memories of our time at your charming and comfortable cottage will always warm our hearts. I think that we will be imagining the lighthouse flashing, a refreshing outdoor morning shower, and so many other simple but exquisite pleasures for days and nights to come. We are certainly going to miss what came to be expected routines at Timberframe Cottage. Thank you for sharing this special home with us.Sincerely, Marlene"

The comforts of home, and then some!

Guest: P&C (Bridgewater MA)
Date of Stay: 04/17/11 Review Submitted: 04/26/11

My wife and I, our two children 13 and 11 and our 'high maintenance fury friend' (endearing nickname for our family dog!) all stayed at your home on the cliff in Manomet. We cannot say enough about the quality of this home. The attention to detail was top notch. My wife was super impressed with everything....and that speaks volumes....you don't know my wife!! They had beautiful, soft linens on all the beds, a well stocked kitchen for the chef in you, stocked bathrooms with everything you can think of (great showers!) The ambiance was perfect! We went during April vacation, and in New England, expected maybe a little sunshine, which is exactly what we got, BUT nonetheless, we were able to spend a few days of uninterrupted, precious moments with our family. We played games (another thing they didn't miss!) flew kites, visited museums, shopped and ate! A wonderful vacation we'll treasure for a long time! Thank you! P&C Bridgewater, MA

FIVE STARS! A Stunning Oceanfront Cottage My adult daughter, her husband and I just returned from a week in paradise at this cottage. The cottage itself is charming! The four poster bedroom on the first floor has incredible water views. The downstairs bedroom is really more like a suite, and had lots of space and privacy. But it was the view that was so incredible. There were times that we didn't want to go anywhere since we had such a spectacular ocean view. There is an outside patio with an incredible commericial style grill along with dining table and chairs, and we ate lots of our meals there. Or if you prefer, there is a hammock and some adirondack lounge chairs on the lawn. The evening sunsets were magnificent. The house was stocked with all the gadgets and dishes you would need, and we were surprised to find a good assortment of paper and other supplies just to get started with our vacation. Tv and internet access were excellent. The owner was very attentive and provided lots of suggestions for activities and beaches. We highly recommend time in this wonderful cottage. ROBIN GETS IT DONE!!! TIMBERFRAME IS A DREAM (except lucky for us..it's real!)

Guest: Hugh, Rhonda, and Family (Rochester)
Date of Stay: 03/12/11 Review Submitted: 03/22/11

We have been renting private homes for vacations for many years and have experienced some of the true wonders of our country this way. And while we have never been disappointed in the locations we have chosen, we have, unfortunately, not been so lucky with the homes and/or the owner's. ROBIN and TIMBERFRAME COTTAGE have restored our faith in private home vacationing. Now THIS GAL KNOWS HOW IT'S DONE! It's not just that you can tell she loves her property; her work of art. The stunning renovation (look at the photo album!), the smart use of space, and lovely antique pieces speak to her amazing design esthetic. It's her attention to the "little things" that truly sets her and her properties apart! Trust me, the little things count, especially when you have driven or flown for hours to begin your R & R only to get there and realize you have forgotten something essential, like a hair dryer (not essential enough? Got a Teen or a Tween with ya? 'nuf said!). Or maybe you dread having to run right out to the market the minute you get there because you need toilet paper or soap or shampoo? And how about hating the expense of buying all the spices and tupperware and foils and wraps you'll need for your week of cooking great meals??? NOT HERE! That's what I mean by the "little things". Once we got to this magical little place, we were able to relax, enjoy the amazing views, listen to some music, have a glass of wine on the deck, and most important...use the necessary room!! There were even snacks in the pantry! Our marketing was done at leisure, at a superb local market in Pine Hills and even though we usually dine out on our 1st night because of the stress of travel, unpacking, and marketing, here, the usual lack of enthusiasm for cooking and cleaning up was noticeably and wonderfully absent! The location of Timberframe is great. Very close to historic downtown Plymouth and driving to the cape is a breeze. Beaches abound, antique shopping everywhere, great seafood, a few spots for lively evening entertainment, and best of all, a great spot for doing NOTHING! Lie in bed late at night and watch the stars (yes the stars!) or lie-in in the morning and listen to the ocean and the birds while gazing out at the water. Heavenly! One of the best, most relaxing, stress free vacations we have ever had!! We thank you Robin for that and we look forward to a long relationship with another of your "works of art"! All the best, Rhonda and Hugh

Owner response:Wow, thank you, Rhonda and Hugh! It is humbling to be honored with this praise, and makes me so grateful to be able to share my home with you. I so enjoyed our emails back and forth, your creativity, wit, and great writing made it such a pleasure. So fun learning about your movie studio background, enthused to be kept abreast of your future creative ventures. Please do return, and make some future week a bright spot in my world– it would be an honor and my pleasure to welcome you again.

You won't want to leave. . .

Date of Stay: 12/04/10 Review Submitted: 01/18/11

I cannot describe how much I’ve come to love Timberframe Cottage. It’s not a summer fling. I discovered this jewel by the sea well after the temperatures had turned frigid. I was looking for a place to relax and spoil myself (as well as two dear friends) while weighing whether turning 50 was as big a milestone as it felt. I was instantly enchanted upon entering the driveway. During my two week stay, Timberframe Cottage nurtured my soul. Within days, I discovered staring out to sea was not only delightful, but it inhibits stress. The rooms were clean and thoughtfully decorated. The furnishings were beautiful, the fireplaces warm and inviting, and the owner (Robin Jareaux) terrific. I postponed my departure twice. Robin was positive and flexible with each request that I might stay longer. I continue to fantasize Timberframe Cottage is my own home-away-from-home. It made turning 50 the positive transition it is meant to be.
