Location: Lagun, Curacao, Caribbean (30-40 Minutes from Airport and Capital of Willemstadt)
Accommodations: Condo, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 4)
Keywords: oceanfront,beachfront,Curacao,condominium,diving,Lagun,snorkeling,apartment
Our recently constructed two level one bedroom beachfront condominium is located on a beautiful bluff just steps away from the beach and blue calm waters. Due to natural topography of the beach and bluff, the water is very calm. Breathtaking views from the condo range from mountain views to the left, to lagoon views directly ahead and Caribbean ocean views to the right allowing both sunrise and sunsets to be seen from the condo deck. Because the beach is lit at night, the beach view can even be enjoyed after dark.
Relax, swim, dive, snorkel, hike or read a book while watching the blue Caribbean waters on the secluded West End Curacao. Enjoy a sunrise over the mountains or sunset over the ocean from our comfortable deck adjacent to the bedroom. Our beach chairs stored in the apartment are for your use so you can fully enjoy your beach vacation. Two twin beds can be used separately or easily pushed together based on preferences.
Two additional guests may sleep on our comfortable Dutch leather sleeper sofa. A full bath on each level allows complete privacy. Allow the gentle winds and lapping ocean waves to rock you to sleep while you rest safely with open windows in this gated private resort. Ceiling fans located in each room assist the island breeze. Air conditioning units on each level are available but we have never found the need to use them.
A kitchen allows food preparation and storage if desired. Take a short walk to enjoy a wonderful lunch or dinner at a dive shop on the beach or walk next door on Thursday to Bahia Inn to savor an all you can eat island dinner or BBQ buffet. A 3 minute walk to a local Snack Bar allows you to mingle with Curacao locals and get inexpensive take out.
Walk down a few stairs to the beach and watch for the daily visits from sea turtles coming right up to shore to say “Bon Bini”. Pelicans will fly in and search for fish on many mornings and afternoons. Iguanas bask in the sun along the cliff. Local fishermen return to our beach daily and you can buy their fresh catch if you wish.
Dolphin will occasionally visit and watching their playfulness is always a treat. On the beach you will meet other world travelers from many countries and the friendly locals will strike up conversations and you may find that in a short while you have become good friends.
Curacao lies outside the “Hurricane Belt”. There are a few occasional rain showers.
Don your snorkel or scuba gear and back paddle less than 80 yards to the easily navigable reef which is parallel to the shore. Tank rental is less than $10 US. Boat diving in Curacao is simply not needed but is easily available if you so desire.
Mount Christoffel National Park is the mountain near our resort and is a short drive away. It provides a wonderful hiking experience but be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
Since our resort is on the West End, relaxation and quiet enjoyment is key. We prefer staying on the West End because of its beauty and relaxed attitude. There are ample activities and restaurants. You will not be surrounded by a typical resort hotel setting packed with tourists.
If you wish more activity, including nightlife, take a 30-40 minute drive to the capital of Willemstadt on easily traveled roads where you will find food delicacies of all types and prices ranges, nightclubs and all manner of shops ranging from “tourist treasures” to fine china and sliver. A large canal splits Willemstadt and walking across the mobile floating bridge is quite wonderful. Stop by the floating farmer’s market and buy exotic fruits, vegetables and spices.
Take a rest at a sidewalk bistro on the banks of the canal and sip a coffee or try a Dutch treat filled with warm Gouda cheese. Round out your excursion with a tour of the picturesque Dutch architecture or enjoy the Kuru Hulanda museum where you will learn of the history of Curacao and slave trade. Further east is one of the best Caribbean aquariums where your guide will insure an enjoyable time by all and sign the kids into the Dolphin Academy to provide a true touch and feel experience.
Return to the West End and realize why our glorious lagoon is home. Take a cooling dip in the resort pool for guests only then watch the sun set on another lovely day in paradise.
Our on site manager will attend to any of your needs and can provide airport transportation, rental cars, dive/snorkel equipment and general advice. Dive gear can be rinsed and stored in their area and they will arrange boat dives for you if you wish.
Construction is now complete at our resort.
This truly is a secluded paradise situated away from the hustle and bustle of typical tourist crowds and on your 30-40 minute return ride to the airport, you are likely to be planning your return trip to Lagoon Ocean Resort, Lagun, Curacao.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
We are an average American couple who fell in love with Curacao after our first visit. On our third trip we couldn't resist a chance to own a piece of paradise. We have hopes of retiring there at least partially one day but for now we enjoy every chance we get to visit.
Why the Owner Chose Lagun
The views are amazing. When we felt the cool ocean breezes and watched the sunrise and sunset from our location, we were forever hooked. The easy beach access, the wonderful gentle locals and the incredible snorkeling and diving simply added to our adoration.
The Unique Benefits of this Condo
Relaxation, joy of the beach, simple inexpensive diving and snorkeling, wonderful views, incredible food of all types from fine dining to inexpensive local take out. The opportunity, if you choose to take it, to meet and get to know people from a variety of countries who are also vacationing.
Example Comment from a recent vacationer:Hello Grace and Richard,
My parents returned home thursday, and I want to tell you how much they
enjoyed the stay in your house!
I've made two bookings for them, one in your house for 4 days and one at the
four star Kura Hulanda hotel in Willemstad for 4 days. And there was no
doubt about it, their greatest time was at your place!
So they had the time of their life there and I wanted to thank you for that.
Next time anyone of our family goes to Curacao I'll contact you again!
Kind regards,
Eric.

Views from the back deck are simply amazing. The cove below, the sea to the right, and the mountains to the left. We watched the sun rise and set from the same deck on the same day. You can hear the waves crash all night long. It is very quiet and peaceful as you are away from everything. This could be a negative for some as there is not much in this part of the island. Only a couple places to eat (but later in the week as we ate at the dive shop below (discover diving) we found them to be good, esp when they get a fresh caught fish which was the best meal we had on the island). Most of the hotels, restaurants and shops are in town which is 25 miles and a good 45 minutes. So if you like to be near it all this is not for you. If you like to be in the least traveled area of the island this is for you. Snorkeling in the cove was excellent most days, very clear. We saw 3 turtles in one day. Great price for what you get. Grounds are well maintained. A car is a must, very surprised some tried it without a car. You will see so much more and a week of a car does not cost much more then a cab to and from the airport.
Owner response:Thanks Doug. Thanks again for the pics and we are glad you had a great time. You obviously captured the true spirit of the island country we love so much. Best wishes and we hope you travel to Curacao again. Richard and Grace

First of all, I'd like to thank Richard and Grace for being so patient with me. With their help, I was able to plan a last minute vacation for the only week I've had off in almost a year. The trip followed through without a hitch, and it was one of the most memorable I've ever experienced. The condo was perfect, the view was spectacular, and the atmosphere was pleasantly inviting. No matter what you decide to do weather its climbing Mt. Christoffel, exploring Willemstad, or never leaving Playa Lagoon, anyone seeking to book this listing is in for a treat. Richard and Grace will take care of all your needs. They have even constructed an itinerary of fun-filled destinations and activities that will accommodate any length of trip. I arrived at the island feeling like I knew it already and was able to take advantage of all the time I had there. I have no doubt that a return trip is in my future and there is no question in my mind that I will be going back to this amazing condo in Playa Lagoon. Thanks Richard! Thanks Grace! Ill be in touch soon. -Chris

Our family of four (2 adults and two children ages 17 and 22) stayed at this property for a week and half. It is an excellent place to hang out after a day of snorkeling of scuba diving. Off the beaten bath - in an area relatively untouched by tourism, over-building and fast food places - authentic Curacao. Access to one of the best diving/snorkeling. We absolutely loved the snorkeling. We enjoyed our rental car to visit other beaches but we always compared it to Playa Lagun and were happy to get "back home". Bring extra beach towels, spices for cooking and zip-lock baggies to feed the fish bread! It was clean, the views were great and the wireless/internet access a bonus! We'd go back in a heartbeat and probably will.

This recent trip was my first to Curacao and it was absolutely incredible. There's nothing quite like waking up every morning to the relaxing sound of the ocean, and that's what you get to enjoy every morning staying here. The sleeping arrangements are perfectly comfortable for four and kitchen/living areas are more than sufficient for every day living. In fact, that "every day living" is the best part of this condo's experience. True, there is no room service here as found in hotels, but staying in this condo allows you the freedom to truly experience all Curacao has to offer, from 1,230 feet above ground at the peak of Mount Christoffel or 125 feet underwater at the base of the lively coral reef, Curacao constantly surrounds you with breathtaking beauty and comfort, and this condo seems to be in the prime location for both. Looking out from the top deck, viewers can watch the crashing of waves into the Lagun walls or enjoy an incredible sunset, with a green flash if you're lucky! While staying here, I was certified in Open Water SCUBA diving at Bahia Diving (located right next door to these condos) and can state from personal experience that it is THE place to do so. I had a blast throughout my certification and continued to partake in the beauty of Curacao diving for the rest of my week, traveling easily to 6-8 different beaches to dive, though Lagun was my favorite in terms of reef beauty and the diversity of wildlife. A car is handy, but not necessary, as delicious food is within walking distance, places to relax are within a stone's throw, and fantastic diving is merely down a flight of stairs. The view's from this condo look like they are from a dream, and it's location is perfect for a consistent cross-breeze while it avoids the beating sun in the hottest parts of the day. I will absolutely be staying in this condo again and would recommend it HIGHLY to anyone considering a true staying in this unbelievable island!

From the moment I walked though the sliding glass doors and looked out over the lagoon, I fell in love with this place! If you haven't been to the West part of the island, you missed the reason for going in the first place! The view is breathtaking to say the least. This unit is beautiful, tastfully decorated, and perfect in every way, right down to the blender in the kitchen and plastic glasses for Pina Colada's at the pool! The breeze was always blowing and we didn't need the air conditioning. There was no way I was going to turn on the air and not be able to lie in bed and fall asleep listening to the tide coming in. I didn't miss a sunrise or a sunset! The snorkeling at Lagun was awesome. . We snorkeled at Kalki, and went to Baka Tabla and Christoffel Park. We never turned on the tv or stereo. Most of all we just loved sitting on the balcony and taking in the view! Richard was wonderful to deal with, giving us great infomation on places to eat and things to do so we were prepared when we got there. I would highly recommend staying at Lagoon Ocean Resort!

Richard and Grace really have a gem there in Lagun. The views from the upstairs balcony and downstairs patio are breath-taking. You'll pinch yourself to make sure you are not dreaming! The location of the condo is perfect. The best restaurants are out on the West end, (most less than 10 minutes from the condo there at Lagun), such as Jaanchies, Sol Food, Landhuis Misje, and many more. Everyone there at the resort was friendly and helpful including Pete the property manager. Friendly Iguanas came out in the mornings to sunbathe on the stone wall near our back patio. It would be impossible to have a bad time at this magnificent place. I am so glad we decided to stay at Richard and Grace's rental instead of a hotel. There is just no comparison between the two. We can't wait to visit aging and are hoping to return in May.

I have travelled to Curacao twice, and on both occasions, I had the pleasure of staying in Richard and Grace’s condo. The condo is clean and well decorated. It has a laid-back vibe due to calming colors and beach/island themed decorations. For sleeping arrangements, the upstairs contains two twin beds that may be easily combined into one larger bed while the downstairs contains a comfortable sleeper sofa. The two bathrooms were definitely nice for aiding in privacy. The kitchen is complete and perfect for cooking meals! One of my favorite parts about this condo is the location. This condo receives a wonderful breeze throughout the entire day, whereas others in the vicinity do not have this cross-flowing breeze. Despite a few hot days outside, when inside the apartment I was perfectly comfortable because of the air flow from the wind. The fans also help to circulate air. The view is stunning. The beach and Lagun are visible from the condo and a full-fledged ocean view is less than 50 meters away. My main reason for visiting Curacao was for SCUBA diving. The SCUBA diving was incredible!! The reefs, especially those around the West side of Curacao, such as Lagun, are pristine. They contain vibrant coral and sponges as well as countless fish species and invertebrates. If you’re interested in diving or snorkeling, this is certainly the location for you! Despite my plans to solely focus on diving, I was drawn into Curacao. The locals are extremely welcoming and friendly. The topography is stunning. The history of both the island and its people is fascinating. I could continue to praise Curacao for quite a while… All in all, my two stays in this condo were spectacular. I will, without a doubt, stay in this exact same apartment when I next visit Curacao!

Our recent trip to Playa Lagun was delightful. My husband and I were able to enjoy peaceful serenity, snorkeling adventures, and still maintain our business ties via the Internet. The property was beautifully maintained and management on-site was helpful and courteous. We love to cook and the kitchen was all that it claimed to be. We will always remember the basking Iguanas in the glorious Sunsets!

This was a great place! The diving is wonderful, there is beach access to a dive shop, and wonderful shore diving. I highly recommend this apartment, the waterfront view is gorgeous, and from what I have seen on the island, has one of the best views. You are looking at a lagoon, but can see the sunset over the ocean. This apartment can suit all: divers, families, and anyone who loves sharing a small piece of paradise. Simplistic and beautiful, this apartment allows you to truly appreciate the beauty of the Carribean. I have no complaints about any aspect of my stay. The environment, the people, the view, and most of all the atmosphere was perfect, they all complemented every aspect of my stay. The overhead fans are a must! I recommend turning on the ceiling fans during the day, letting a nice breeze flow through the apartment while enjoying your favorite cocktail. During the night, airconditioning is completly unnecessary. Sleeping upstairs in the bedroom with the window open lets a constant breeze flow over you, lulling you to sleep. I even got cold sometimes! Contact and tips from the owners make this stay extraordinary. They really know the island; they know the local spots, both above water and underwater. All I have to say is Wow!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Richard and Grace's clean, quiet condo. Both the back porch and upper deck look out over the turquoise water of the lagun, providing a lovely place to eat one's breakfast or sip a drink in the evening (or to leave your wet towels and snorkel gear to dry overnight). It's a short walk and flight of stone stairs down to the beach. The water is always calm and lights on the beach even make it possible to swim at night. Richard was very helpful and generous with his time answering our questions while we were planning our vacation. Thea and Peter, the on-site property managers, were also friendly, helpful and usually around if you needed them. Some conveniences offered (at additional cost) include: transport to/from airport, a rental car, dive operator, and fun weekly BBQ. There's also a binder chock full of useful information about restaurants and activities. I highly recommend this place! One thing to note: The stairs up to the bedroom are somewhat steep and shallow. People with balance issues, physical difficulties, or toddlers may find them challenging.
