This beautiful, very private “casita style" studio retreat, with separate outside entrance, is located on the walkout level of our hillside home, on a quiet canopied lane in Hot Springs Village.
Your hosts, Jim and Jill Anderson and resident retrievers, Grace and Mac, will do everything possible to make your stay as pleasant as possible. This south of the border inspired studio is just the place to relax and enjoy the wonders of nature that abound here! Take the paved walkway from the off-street parking to this special place, where the sounds of the woods and stream below offer serenity and peace for your special vacation.
Sunny Oaks features a comfortable sitting area with efficiency kitchen and soft, cozy places for reading and relaxing. The sleeping alcove features a chenille and quilt covered queen bed that faces the serenity of the forest thru full-length windows. A ¾ bath completes the interior. The studio is furnished with textiles and décor obtained from our visits to Ecuador, Mexico and Peru, along with original art and prints collected over many years. The spacious "cabana" deck provides for comfortable and private outdoor living, year around.
If you will be traveling with friends, be sure to ask about adding on our Forest Glen Apartment (VRBO property # 193378), another wonderful oasis in the forest that is easily accessible from Sunny Oaks, yet with it's own private entrance and outdoor living.
Forest Glen is a one bedroom apartment featuring king bed; an efficiency kitchen with sitting area and full bath. Furnishings in Forest Glen are Asian/Indonesian/Eclectic. Just below the house, there is a woodland walkway leading to a forest deck and fire pit that overlooks the stream. This deck can be accessed from both Forest Glen and Sunny Oaks. It's a peaceful and serene place to enjoy the abundance of nature.
The location is ideal for those wanting easy access to all Village amenities, including golf courses, fitness center, trail systems, outdoor pools, tennis center and 12 beautiful lakes! Our quiet lane is a great place to take a “walk with nature” as it loops around thru the forest and back to your starting point..... exactly a mile in length. Along the way you may see deer, the red-tailed hawk, a turtle or two and lots of wildflowers. You may hear an owl and much conversation among birds in the canopy above. Sunny Oaks is "dog friendly" and we will warmly welcome your travel companion, providing he/she has good house manners. A small pet fee is required.
Hot Springs Village is America's largest gated community and is a wonderful place to vacation or live, with spectacular scenery, moderate climate, warm and friendly people, relaxed and casual lifestyle and some of the best golf, boating and recreational opportunities you’ll find anywhere! Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2007
Greetings from Jim and Jill Anderson and Hot Springs Village! I am a real estate broker and Jim has been a general contractor for 30 years, building everything from golf resorts to custom homes in PA, CO and AR. During the 90's in Durango, CO, we owned and operated Country Sunshine Bed and Breakfast. We miss many things about Colorado... including the awesome beauty, but we don't miss the cold or the snow and the high prices!
Why the Owner Chose Hot Springs Village
Today we are happily living the good life in Hot Springs Village. We decided on the Village after much on-line and in-person research. We wanted a beautiful spot, with low cost of living and lots of amenities that would be close to our children in Mississippi and Texas. We purchased our first townhome in 2007 and lived in it while we built our new home here. Later, we decided to keep the townhome and make it available to friends and family who visit and occasional paying guests. We have had so many requests for bookings that we decided last summer to add our guest apartment, here at the house, to give us two vacation rental options. This spring, we added a third property, another townhome, to the mix. So, now we have something for everyone and since we love hosting people who come to the Village to explore, play and enjoy themselves, we are truly in our element…..it’s almost like the B&B, but without the Breakfast!
The Unique Benefits of this Studio
We furnish our units with comfortable furniture and quality bedding. They are all nicely decorated with things we love….a few “family” antiques, original art and momentos we have picked up on our many travels. We are dog friendly, knowing that since our two golden retrievers are part of our family, your canine companions must be too! Come spend some time in the Village... play some golf, fish, hike, play tennis, swim, read and relax.... We look forward to making one of our vacation rentals your “home away from home”!

We stayed here while exploring HSV as a possible place to live. The rental was neat, clean, comfortable and well stocked. It was very quite and peaceful. The small deck that comes with the unit is private and the view is beautiful. The owners were a pleasure to work with. We would recommend this rental and look forward to visiting again in the future.

I have stayed several places with VRBO and this was the best. We were moving my daughter into a new school and I wanted to stay close for a few days to get her settled but it was so serene and peaceful that I stayed another day. The listing description was accurate, the photos did not do it justice (it was better), the property was well maintained inside and out and Jill was great to work with. I have recommended this property to other ASMSA parents and also my own extended family for when they want to come visit my daughter at school. Jill and Jim have other properties listed that I hope will be available when I come back with grandparents and uncle. I have decided I never want to stay in a hotel again.

My husband and I loved our 3 nights stay. The cabin is clean, comfortable and has everything you could need. It was too hot to sit outside and enjoy the patio in July but we enjoyed the lakes around, and the countryside. The pictures and descriptions are accurate. We cooked simple meals for the 2 of us. There is salt and pepper and other basic cooking items. Internet was a little slow according to husband but it worked for me. We will be back and are giving this address to other friends.

We are right now in this lovely Sunny Okas for our Thanksgiving holidays. We just love this place, everything we need is here and free wifi! The owner just called us, she is near by and she told us that we forgot to turn off our car light. What a nice owner! I cannot image what will happen tomorrow morming, if we keep the light on. Anyway, I and my husband decide to come back some time next Spring.

My daughter and I stayed here during Spring Break. It was perfect. In fact, I called my mom while there to tell her I was sitting out on the deck having my coffee, listening to the birds sing and the creek babble, and she decided she wants to come. So my mom, sister, and cousin and I will be returning in November, renting both units. Everything was so clean, artfully decorated, and comfortably arranged. It was so much better than an impersonal hotel room. I highly recommend this location, as well as these hosts. Jill was so kind! We had plenty of privacy, but still found her welcoming and informative when needed. Thanks so much for the chance to make precious memories with my daughter!!
