The cottage was exactly as advertised and a huge part of my positive experience in Boulder, where I just returned from a two-week stay. The cottage is in a beautiful, quiet and historic neighborhood, is four blocks away (a ten-minute walk) from the Pearl Street shops, and is also close to the hiking paths at the foot of the Flatiron Mountains. The cottage was small but completely charming with simple yet tasteful furnishings, totally private, and completely light-filled. The owner, CarolAnn, was friendly and responsive. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car.

If you are planning a visit to Boulder and you are alone or a couple, you will be hard pressed to find better accommodations for the price (we stayed for 5+days). The location allows easy (walking distance) access to Pearl St. Mall which has a multitude of fine restaurants, live music, and shopping for all price points and tastes (try the Trident Cafe/Bookstore for excellent early A.M. coffee or late night browsing as they are open to 11P.M.). If you have a car, street parking was never a problem for us during our entire stay. We usually ended up right in front of the main house. If the main house is rented, you will have close neighbors as mentioned in another review. For us it was not a problem as it was still quiet and we had our privacy. The kitchen is minimal, but for those who like microwaves it should be adequate. We had hoped to grill, but utensils were lacking and the gas was out, but Carol Anne assured us that would be taken care of in the future and offered us the Main House grill for our use while we were there, which worked out fine. The local restaurants are so good you may not notice but we still like to stretch our travel dollars by eating in whenever possible which is a nice option with this cottage. There is a great local Natural Market (Alphalfa's) about a 3 min drive away and all kinds of regular markets and drugstores nearby. The Boulder Public library is walking distance (excellent art exhibit during our stay) and as other reviews mentioned, nature trails are close by. The neighborhood itself is also a nice walk with many picturesque period homes on beautiful tree lined streets. We attended a wedding at the Red Lion Inn which we would recommend for a nice dinner date. They have tables right out by the beautiful creek for a unique dining experience during the summer months. The Dushanbe Tea House was great for special lunch treat and is walking distance from the cottage.. The owner Carol Anne was quickly responsive to any needs and was very friendly and accommodating. I would be happy to stay again on any return trips to Boulder and outlying areas.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car.

For our last night in Colorado we decided to get out of Denver and go to Boulder... hotels seemed a little pricey for what they were so we turned to VBRO and found this gem! The cottage is perfect for the price and location in a cute neighborhood walking distance to Pearl Street as well as hiking trails. Carol Anne was a great host with excellent dinner recommendations, walking routes, etc. We hope to make it back next time we are on that side of the Country!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

I loved my stay in this small carriage house, right in the middle of historic Boulder. The house is a small studio - perfect for one person or a couple. It's an older place - so if you're expecting new construction or ultra modern, you should be prepared that it has the character and charm of the neighborhood it is in. Very quiet in the evenings, and the location is perfect for running and hiking into the foothills. The skylights pour in lots of natural light, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I've stayed on. The only real downside was the lack of cell service in the area. The cottage is right next door to the main house, also, so while you generally won't hear anything, you should be aware that you'll have close neighbors. My stay was trouble free, and I'd recommend this little getaway if you want a different, inexpensive Boulder stay within walking distance to all the amenities of Pearl Street.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

I enjoyed your guest house. It’s absolutely adorable! I may be back and forth between Seattle and Boulder for the next month or so. I’ll be sure and check with you once I get solid dates.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The unit did not meet our expectations since it did not have a sink in the bathroom, but the owner has now refunded part of the costs to our satisfaction.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/2

This is a great place to stay. Really quiet, and in a nice, historic neighborhood of Boulder. It is about 5 blocks from the Mount Sanitas and Red Rocks hiking trails, and 4 blocks from downtown Boulder...coffee shops, shopping, bars, restaurants, and the Pearl Street Mall.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car.

Our stay with Carol Ann was very pleasant. The cottage is small but very clean and comfortable. The location is excellent for walking to Pearl Street Mall and Boulder Creek. Carol Ann makes you feel very welcome. We have visited Boulder several times staying in Hotels and Condos in the past. The cottage is great for 2 people and the location is excellent. You can't beat the price. We would definitely stay again. Thank s Carol Ann.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

This is a great location and the unit is quaint. However, there were issues when I stayed there, some of which appear to have been rectified. I would have reviewed directly after my stay, but this option wasn't available through VRBO in 2009, at least not without owner approval of the review, and I knew it wouldn't be "approved". The unit was listed as having AC, internet, a microwave, and a stocked kitchen. It had none of these things (only two wine glasses and no other dish ware/cutlery/cleaning supplies/toilet paper, ect). But from more recent reviews, it seems it is equipped now, except for the AC. In regards to the missing items, I was told by the owner to go buy them and she would reimburse me. When I said I didn't have time to do this on my vacation, she said that she didn't understand "why I couldn't just help her out." I found this very unprofessional. Also, it does get very hot without AC. Furniture was moved in and out daily while I was there, which was disruptive. The most bothersome issue, though, was when I addressed my concerns to the owner, instead of simply admitting there were problems and working to fix them she told me I was a "negative person" and she was "about positivity" and "was above" my complaints. I found this insulting, inappropriate and unprofessional. A final note, if others are staying at the house for rent on the same property, there isn't much privacy.Did you find this review helpful? About the owner: We love Boulder. It will always be our home. There is nowhere in the US that offers the athletic activities, restaurants, entertainment within a one mile radius of home. We hope you will love our place and Boulder as much as we do. This picture was taken hiking Sanitas, 5 blocks west.
Why the Owner Chose Boulder:
Close to Pearl Street and downtown, however our area is cozy, and has a residential atmosphere, you get the best of both worlds.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
Boulder Creek and the bike path are close. You really don't need a car once you are here, Pearl Street offers everything you need in terms of dining, coffee houses, music, and Pearl Street, I love the changing flowers and strolling, no cars, what a relief!
