This is a beautiful, historic Portland home with full modern amenities and easy access to the best of both Portland's cultural and outdoor activities and the rest of Oregon's great outdoors. The house is within 5-10 min walking distance to downtown, River Front Walk, farmer's market, OHSU, PSU and wonderful running/walking trails, bird watching parks and the Portland Zoo. The house is within two blocks of the Portland MUNI which includes routes to the airport, downtown, the ZOO, Pearl District, etc. For outdoor enthusiasts, Portland is in the center of countless outdoor activities ranging from the Pacific Ocean (1.5 hrs away) to the The Columbia River Gorge (1 hr away).
The house has wood and tile floors (carpeted bedrooms) and a large, outdoor garden and wood patio with dining furniture, etc. The house also has a wonderful, six foot long, claw tooth tub and twenty foot lofted ceilings with sky lights providing wonderful natural light.

Year Purchased: 2004
I fell in love with Portland when I moved there for work. I later returned to San Francisco but kept my home in Portland. I have used VRBO for my own vacation planning with my wife (from Bend, OR) and our daughter. We love the service and hope to be able to offer our own home to people looking to spend time in Portland and the NorthWest.
Why the Owner Chose Portland
I bought this house because it is centrally located within Portland but also has a great neighborhood feel with nearby parks, trails, cafes, etc. It is also near the large, Oregon medical complex, OHSU from which several temporary housing tenants have come during medical conferences, residency exchanges, etc. The house is very easy to walk-into and enjoy. The space is open and well lit with a great backyard dining patio and several handcrafted attributes that give the house a unique Northwest aesthetic and feel.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Staying in one of Portland's oldest historic homes that has been fully and tastefully modernized with handcrafted accents and modern amenities is a great feeling. I also like the history and closeness of the neighborhood which has a thriving art, culture and entrepreneurial spirit. The neighborhood of Lair Hill is tucked away within the city so I enjoy all of the benefits of a beautiful, tree lined neighborhood with the easy, nearby access of everything that Portland has to offer. I also like the large, back-yard patio and dining area for May through October.
