We moved away from San Diego almost 2 years ago and went back last month in November to visit friends and wine taste in Temecula. We had our 120 lb dog traveling with us so finding a hotel was near impossible. By amazing luck we found the Paul's rental. Rarely in Pacific Beach do you find a place with such a large, lush front yard and off street parking - a huge plus. Set up with a porch, barbeque and large space to play out front was PERFECT! Grand Ave is a busy street, but the house is set far back so it's quiet. The location is unbeatable! Within 1-5 blocks you have all the boutique shops, restaurants, bars, grocery store and a 24 hour fitness. Mission Bay and the beach are is just a short walk away. I took our dog for a nice long morning run along the bay, it was serene, crisp and nostalgic - highly recommend. The house was clean, well furnished, large master bedroom, small back porch with laundry facilities. The perfect vacation home away from home. Last note is the Pacific Beach area has much more to do and is safer than a lot of the vacation rentals that came up in Mission Bay near the Mission boardwalk. A rough crowd hangs out in Mission so I'd suggest staying in PB and its a short bike ride along the boardwalk to visit/see the rollercoaster, etc, but again I wouldn’t want to stay down that direction. Safe travels to all!

I used to live in PB and felt like part of the good ole' neighborhood! I didn't have a car, but if you do the parking accommodations are a 10! I myself preferred spending time in the neighborhood riding one of the two bicycles provided in the rental. The duplex is on a main street, but not to worry, it is set back and there is a beautiful front yard with your own personal deck! The house is well maintained, comfortable, spacious, and full of every accessory you might need! Including bikes, boogie boards, dishwasher, washer/dryer, comfortable & tasteful furniture, and a personal deck with a grill. Along with all of these amenities, your hostess & host are assessable to you at all times and are more than willing to make your stay a pleasant one! I not only recommend this property, I look forward to staying at it again! Thanks again Christiana & Joseph!

- Comfy layout with lots of couch space, big dining room table, spacious kitchen, nice little deck and yard - Good location, close to everything without the cost and noise associated with being right on the water. I agree with a previous reviewer that the walking may be a bit much for small children or the less mobile. - Owners very prompt at answering questions via email, processing payment, and refunding deposit - Would stay here again!

I recently stayed at the 2 bedroom duplex with my 2 children (4 yrs old and 1). I read the reviews prior to staying there and was under the impression that we would be close enough to walk to the beach. After the second day of walking to the beach my girl was sick of walking. It is a longer walk than I thought. The Harbor area does have a cute park that the kids enjoyed. Neighbors are loud. It is a party area. Lots of bars, so going out to eat at night you are surrounded by drunks. We went around PB shops in the early afternoon to avoid this. On very busy street, very loud. I wish that was mentioned before my booking. Duplex itself was clean for considering how old it was. My husband saw a few roaches, but may be normal for the area? When we first got there the cleaning lady just finished cleaning however, our feet were black after a few hours from walking around barefoot in the house...not sure what that was about. Owners were very pleasant to work with I would consider this place again without the kiddos.

Owner response:We do our best to represent our home as accurately as possible to prospective guests. Our home is 4 blocks to the bay and 4 blocks to the beach, but even that short walk may be a lot for a tired toddler. One of the great aspects of our property is that it is in the "heart" of Pacific Beach. That can bring with it pros and cons--you can walk everywhere, but if you are used to living in the quiet suburbs, you will hear more foot and traffic noise than you may be used to. That's part of staying in a lively beach community. Because our house it at the back of the lot, traffic noise, especially when inside the house is minimal. We do all that we can to control noise from our neighbors and the community. We try to be as flexible as possible with our check in/out policies. Whenever possible we try to allow guests to check in early. We have the home thoroughly cleaned after each guest by housekeepers who know our property very well. We were surprised to hear of a concern with regard to cleanliness as this has not been an issue with other guests. Additionally, we do have a regular service that guards our home against insects and other pests as a preventative measure. We want our guests to have a good experience and choose the property that will best suit their needs. We have not known our home to have regular noise issues, but Pacific Beach in general can have noisy people at times. Our "Walkscore" is 86, "very walkable."

This house is in a great location. The house was clean and well kept. We also appreciated being able to use their beach towels, beach toys and chairs! We would stay here again.

Very cozy beach home away from home ...

We were very happy with this beach rental. The master bedroom has a large window that provided the best morning views and cool breezes. The house was very comfortable for the three adults and our beloved Shih-Tzu on this trip. We walked everyday to either a local market, a great restaurant(s) or just cruised the neighborhood with our dog. Many of the local places too were very dog-friendly which delighted us as we try to include our dog in everything we do. We were very much at ease and felt very relaxed at this house. It was very clean and well taken care of. We also loved the patio with the BBQ. Our dog also enjoyed lounging on the lawn out front which was a very safe distance from the street which we knew would keep her safe.Joseph and Christiana provide a great vacation/getaway rental. They also answered the very few questions we had very promptly too. Thanks for providing us with a very, very enjoyable vacation for our family.

This place was great! Has everything you need, including washer/dryer, bikes, cookware, and BBQ. Amazing location! Very close to grocery stores, the beach, and nightlife. Perfect yard for a BBQ! The neighbors were noisy, which did not bother me but may be a pain for those with children.

Pacific Beach at its best

This place is huge and great for a larger family visit. It also has a really nice front yard that gives you some distance from the street, although it was never a bother. It's situated in an ideal location, close to Trader Joe's and Garnet restaurants, and just a bit farther to the beach and the restaurants there. Joseph and Christiana are both great and responsive to all inquiries and needs. Highly recommended!

Charming Cottage at Pacific Beach Perfect for Family Vacation

Centrally located on bus route, close to shopping, restaurants, beach and bay, this quaint duplex is efficiently operated and kept neat & clean by an attentive family. It includes everything you need and more, including ample parking, beach toys, barbeque, bykes, full internet and cable, a nice fully equipped kitchen. We especially enjoyed the shaded deck in a lovely garden, which was a source of tasty vegetables for several meals!!

We have gone to San Diego almost every year for almost forty years and have always stayed at the beach until this trip. It was our youngest son's 30th birthday and he and his friend flew down from San Francisco and our oldest son and his wife drove with us from the Phoenix area. The house was great with plenty of room for the six of us and had everything we needed. The location is in walking distance of every place we usually go and we did a lot of walking. The little deck out front is a nice touch for coffee and the paper in the morning and the parking is a nice bonus. Usually we would just leave our car in one place for fear of losing the spot. For a party of six it is a lot more reasonable than gettin three hotel rooms so we plan on coming back.
