Our vacation farm OHANA, boasting over 800 square feet of private living space (sleeps 6 in beds), offers a unique setting for a serene and healthy organic family vacation at a truly bargain rate designed for today's economy. Our 15 acre farm in the beautiful Waiohinu hills of Ka`u district on the South side of the Big Island is a gorgeous natural escape from city life, overlooking the last 80 miles of undeveloped coastline in the State of Hawaii. We offer easy access as our driveway accesses directly off of the main Island belt road, highway 11--yet privacy and quiet is guaranteed as the vacation house is 7 acres up the 1,000 foot driveway on it's own private 4.5 acres of our Organic Estate. We have a second unit for housing a total of 20 people, on special request.
Our Ohana unit has a lovely double french door entrance into to the large Great Room/living room with efficiency kitchen. This large room has four built-in full twin beds that can be use as lounging couches, depending on your group size. Go through the arch to enter the large private bedroom with separate private bath that features new marble tile shower and bench.
The location is serene, lovely, GREEN EVERYWHERE, with sheep roaming the orchards, wild turkey, chickens, and pheasants. A REAL NATURE PARADISE!
In the neighborhood at twelve minutes drive lies Punalu'u BLACK SAND BEACH, rated 3rd best beach in Hawaii by the travel channel that offers tennis and golf as well as excellent swimming, boogey boarding, and snorkeling. About twelve miles down the nearby South Point Road lies the historical and pristine natural area known as KA LAE a sacred place for Native Hawaiians, where the first of Hawaii's people landed. Also down this road lies a rare GREEN SAND BEACH that takes a good 2.5 mile hike each way, or sturdy four wheel drive vehicle to access.
At fifteen minutes drive North lies the second longest lava tube in the world at KULA KAI CAVERNS--one of the best tours on the Island into this amazing 20 mile long (and still mapping) tube is offered by a local tour operator. All in all this a rare area full of exotic natural treasures.
Coffee and macadamia nut tours are available on request.

Why the Owner Chose Naalehu
We began as an organic farm and then added this vacation rental house to our property to offer people a unique opportunity to participate in a real working farm and see real life in Hawaii which adds to our farm charm.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse
Our vacation rental here on our farm allows for organic farm tours, to see how coffee and macadamia nuts are grown and processed and to attend a real coffee roasting demonstration available upon special request. Your vacation rental experience is enhanced by our organic farm surroundings and the beauty and MANA of this pristine natural area of the Big Island.
Owner's Map of Naalehu
We are Barney & Elizabeth, Sam & Gabe, owners of Ailani Orchards, a family owned and run organic orchard since 2001. We pride ourselves on offering truly healthy organic lamb, and some of the best tasting dehydrated organic macadamia nuts available on the Hawaiian Islands, and our coffee is ahhhhh...well... you'll have to taste this divine brew yourselves to see what we mean! We also invented and produce our own chocolate macadamia nut butters made with real dark and white Belgian chocolate and our own organic nuts. It is a delicacy not to be missed. We believe in an organic lifestyle as a basis for our teaching, both with kids and adults. Barney is Head Farmer and Orchard Master, and Elizabeth is an internationally bestselling author of two books on the Inkas of Peru. We are the Hawaii headquarters for the Wiraqocha Foundation for the Preservation of Indigenous Wisdom and offer programs on property.

We stayed at the other rental house owned by Barney and Elizabeth. It was just perfect for our party of 4 adults and 3 little kids. The farm is perfect for the kids, they loved the sheep and turkeys, running around in the huge yard and also collecting and cracking open the mac nuts. Even though there is a couple of houses on their property, every one of them is still very private and secluded. Barney and Elizabeth are super nice hosts, always helpful and giving us tips for beaches, restaurants, etc. We had an awesome time, and hopefully will be back soon! Thank you so much for a great vacation!

We stayed here with our 6 children ages 4-13. We all fit comfortably and the kids LOVED the ping pong table. It was an easy drive to Hilo and Kona, as well as the Volcano Park, Black Sand Beach, and Green Sand Beach. The kids also enjoyed walking around the orchard. The owners and property manager are all very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stayed at this house on our last leg of our visit. Unfortunately, the fruit stand's hours never worked with our schedule, but they were nice enough to hand deliver whatever we needed. The chocolate mac nut butter is wonderful. The house is very spacious and the views out the back and side are very relaxing. Definitely recommended.

Barney and Elizabeth your place is the bomb! My family had a great time. My daughter could not get enough of talking with your sheep and your organic macadamia nuts are the best I have ever tasted!
