Very Nice Home, Terrible Communication

This home was very nice and clean. It is on a secluded lake and is very large. However, they fail to mention a few things which I would have deemed important. One, yes there is a rec room with a pool table...however, it does not have any cable access. So basically with a large group of people staying at the home, all have to huddle around 1 TV. Second, the heaters in the extended living quarters do not work...so you need to run the garage heater in order to make sure it is warm enough to sleep (we stayed in winter). Third, even though you are not told in advance, you are charged for firewood. On a side note, the agent for the home is horrible at communicating with the renters...ie questions regarding the property before we rented (emails not returned within a week, etc), and not returning calls for days when she told you she would. I was told they did not require a security deposit and then told when the 2nd half of the payment came due that there was a security deposit. No big deal, but up front communication with all the facts makes it alot easier. As someone who consistently rents homes with a group of friends/family, I would definately never go back and would recommend others to steer clear of this property. Simple communication goes a long way when renting a home you have never seen in person. Definately enjoyed the home, but not as much as we could have.
Owner response:Renter used 25 bundles of firewood in the fireplace during the weekend he stayed. The owner has a large note on the bundles of fire wood in the garage that each bundle is $5.00, this is clearly marked. The wood is purchased by the owner from the local gas station (bundled in plastic with a handle) for the guests to purchase instead of haveing to travel to the gas station to purchase it. This renter did not want to pay for it, as the wood is CLEARLY marked. The security deposit of $300.00 was also discussed with this guest. I went back and forth on the phone and email with this guest about the wood perhaps 10 times and finally I just quit responding. If you use 25 bundles of wood you are going to pay. I am sorry that he feels that I was not good with my communication but I feel going over the same thing and the result being the same on 10 seperate occations about the same thing was more than most people would do. We have never had a single unhappy guest at this house...I guess you can not make every one happy all the time.

We just spent a week at this fabulous home over the Fourth of July holiday. Interior of home was very spacious and clean. Kitchen had modern everything enabling us to cook all our meals there. Yard was very nice and well taken care of. Plenty of space for kids to play and dogs to run around. I thought the real gem was the quiet, clean lake. Even on the holiday weekend, it was never crowded or noisy. No wake on lake after 4p made evenings quite relaxing. Water very nice for swimming. For the most part, we didn't have to leave the home all week.

"Wow", was the response of everyone in my family upon entering this home. It was everything and more as promised on their website. There is lots of room to "spread" out and enjoy the 3 fireplaces. The view from the family room and Master bedroom was amazing. Scott & Brenda left nothing out as this house has every amenity you could ask for and much more! It is beautifully decorated, warm and inviting; anyone who stays at this "home" will not be disappointed. Thank you Scott & Brenda for helping provide one of the best Christmas'we've ever had! We hope to come back again some day! Sincerely, Tom, Patty, Brigitte, Joey, Megan and Toby (our dog)
