Why the Owner Chose Emerald Skye
For years, I have wanted to have a vacation property on the Alabama Gulf Coast. It's an easy drive from my home and the beaches and ocean are gorgeous. I chose Emerald Skye because it is a low density complex and is less crowded. What sold me on the unit I purchased is the huge balcony/patio.
The Unique Benefits of this Condo
It is a ground floor unit, so there is no need to climb stairs or wait on the elevator - so convenient! I just updated the condo with ceramic tile and tropical colors. It is cheerful. The balcony/patio is 3 times the size of any of the other balconies in the complex. It has comfortable furnishings outside and inside. Emerald Skye is almost directly across the street from a big grocery store and lots of other shopping, so there is no need to drive for miles to get something you need for your stay. The restaurants in Orange Beach are superb.

We came down to Orange Beach to stay here at Emerald Skye in the Romantic Grotto on Saturday, June 12. As some of you know, this is the day that the oil spill made it's way onto the beach. Saturday was by far the worst day that we were there, and we still had an enjoyable time. The beaches were as gorgeous as ever... the sand was just as powdery smooth as I remember from last year, maybe even more so due to the beach rakes sifting the sand there. On Sunday, the water looked much better, and we hardly even noticed the oil other than the fact that we couldn't swim in the gulf. However, we were able to drive down about 4 miles from the condo to a public beach just so the kids could get in the water. All in all, we had a blast and the condo was perfect for our family of four. We had debated for weeks whether to come to the beach or to change our plans, but in the end we decided to go ahead and come down there. I am so glad we decided to come!! The facility itself is nice and well-kept. We are definitely planning to return here, to this exact condo, in the near future. Thank you so much for having such a fabulous condo! As a side note, if you're worried about the lack of a beach view because of being on the bottom floor, I promise you won't be disappointed. Julee has built a neat platform so that you are able to relax on her comfortable patio furniture and still see the beach and ocean just fine. We were well-pleased and enjoyed the convenience of a bottom-floor condo.
