Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2001
We grew up on the beach and Nags Head has one of the best. Great for sand-castles and for jogging or a walk.
Great for our two girls who can spend hours entertaining themselves. We have been visiting the Outer Banks since the sixties and my Navy years and it's still pretty much the same.
Why the Owner Chose Nags Head
We use the house year round as it is well insulated and snug in winter. The gas fireplace adds to the coziness.

We were a group of 3 families - total of 12 people. We found the house very comfortable and homey. We all had our privacy and yet the large open family room was a great place to meet and play games, read or watch TV. The house had everything we needed and was a nice comfortable temperature. The Jacuzzi was clean and well maintained and we used it everyday. We loved the large dinner table - we all fit there every evening for dinner and there was plenty of room. All the bedrooms were adequate and had ample storage space. We will definitley be back. Thank you!

I came with a group of friends from high school and college (we're now in our early 40's) for a long weekend and I must say it was perfect for us. Everything worked well and was as described online. It has an older beach house feel and I would bring my family (wife and kids 10, 8 and 6) here. It you're looking for a newly built and huge house on the water with big updated bathrooms, etc, this is not your place, but everything about the house was great for us. The tide was very high the weekend we were there due to storms offshore and the tide came all the way under the house. Made for some great photos.

We rented the house for Labor Day week. There was some confusion about the description of the beds. I contacted the owner and he confirmed there were 6 double beds. This was not really the case as several of them were an odd size, equivalent to a "extra long" double. Meaning standard full size linens did not fit. Fortunately we had a back up of queen size sheets and made them work. The mattresses were quite uncomfortable by everyone's opinion. Our second problem was the posting of internet access and wireless broadband, neither of which was available. For one of our guests who needed this for some work issues, this was a HUGE stumbling block. Calls to the rental office were ignored. And thirdly, not necessarily the owner's fault, was that the house was not really cleaned prior to our arrival. Trashcans had not been emptied, floors not washed, carpets FULL of sand.. On a positive note, the rental rate was quite reasonable and the location was superb. Phillip and Sue
Owner response:My mistake, the four beds were queen size, the ones in the pyramid bunks were doubles. Have had no other complaints regarding bed comfort in the eight years of renting since 2001. Not sure why the issue with the wi-fi. You do have to enter a WEP key into your computer as the network is private. Have had no other issues with cleaning. Stan White rentals does an excellent job and also with maintainance issues. Usually solved in a day. As for sand...... well it is the Beach. These rental houses get a double whammy, new renters every week and the Ocean environment which rusts, corrodes and causes dampness and salt staining,at an alarming rate. My AC unit in Florida is 15 years old and on continuously, we replace the one at the Beach every 5 years, even though its only on for 10 weeks. This goes for everything in the house as well. We also have Hurricaines and Nor'easters to contend with.
Recommended for:Pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers.
