Our perfect little home away from home

Guest: user01 (Australia)
Date of Stay: 11/12/11 Review Submitted: 12/09/11

We stayed in this cottage for almost one month and could not have been more settled, comfortable and happy! The cottage has so much charm, you cannot help but fall in love with it and the North Shore. For us the cottage was perfect. It is only small but certainly very adequate and very comfortable. We would recommend it to couples or couples with small children, although we had a 3rd adult stay with us for a short while and this was still fine. The kitchen is completely decked out with everything you may need - we cooked there frequently and felt right at home! The bedroom and bathroom were beautiful and all of the furnishings were all very clean, modern and very comfortable. The cottage has great bicycles, an outdoor shower, sun lounges and beach equipment and these were all well used and much appreciated by us! The location of the cottage is fantastic. It a few houses back back from Keiki Beach (easily the most beautiful and least busy stretch of beach on the NS) and it is walking distance to Waimea Bay, Foodland, down to Pipeline and beyond. We have been to the NS several times and we consider this one of the best places to stay! The owners Darryl and Donna were great to deal with the entire time, from booking right through to check out, they had great communication and they were very friendly, polite and accommodating. We LOVED our stay at our little hawaiian 'home away from home' and we hope to return in the near future :)

This was the best vacation stay I have had in my 20 years of traveling the earth. I have been to almost every continent and stayed at some amazing places, yet I have never had a time without want of something else. I needed nothing that was not provided by the location, property, or owners. I will recommend this experience to anyone who will listen. I will be returning with loved ones and family members in the near future. -Luke

The Perfect Stress Reliever

Guest: Anonymous
Date of Stay: 07/09/11 Review Submitted: 07/27/11

This is our 3rd time at the cottage and everything went perfect as usual. This is such a perfect stress reliever that doctors should be able to prescribe this place to their patients for stress and the insurance companies should be able to pay for it. We didn't do a lot of planned activities this time we just hung out and took it easy. Spent a lot of time at the beach out back, Sharks Cove, And Haleiwa. A perfect vacation. North Shore Cottage

Guest: Ken F.
Date of Stay: 06/30/11 Review Submitted: 09/24/11

We really enjoyed our stay at this north shore cottage. The beach is a short walk(2 mins) away. The cottage is really well equipped and comfortable. There was plenty of space for the two of us. We grilled almost every day and the grill worked perfectly. The supermarket is right down the street. Its only a short walk to shark's cove, a great snorkeling spot. Ted's bakery is close and a nice place to grab lunch or a snack. The neighborhood was peaceful and nice. The owners were very responsive. The cottage was well equipped with cleaning supplies and some basic food items: salt, oil, etc. We never met with the owners but there was no need to. We were able to contact them over the phone when needed. The cottage is a little darker than shown in the pictures but it didn't really matter to us.

A great North Shore getaway! - December 2010

Guest: lex (Philadelphia, PA)
Date of Stay: 12/08/10 Review Submitted: 01/12/11

My husband and I could not have been happier with our stay at the Ke Iki Beach Cottage. It had everything we needed for a peaceful, relaxing, two-week getaway from Philly. It was extremely clean and very comfortable. It didn't take long to feel right at home. It was the perfect house for two. The walk to the beach is really short. Its location is about perfect. Famous surf breaks up and down the North Shore are a short bike ride away. Just about anything you need to leave your house for is a short bike ride or walk away! The home owners are very nice and friendly to speak with about questions we had on the house and the area in general. I could go on and on.... overall great place to stay! I would go back in a second!

Family Friendly

Guest: Steven_S (Chicago)
Date of Stay: 08/30/10 Review Submitted: 09/14/10

This is a fantastic little getaway with all the amenities you will need. It was the perfect size for our family of 4. We used it as a base to see the North Shore a little and to visit the Polynesian Cultural Center (15-20 minutes away). The shops are close by and the beach that you can walk to is fantastic - and not crowded like Waikiki. The water is a little too rough for our 3 year old to play in (beyond her knees) so we went 2 minutes down the road to Waimea beach which is a gorgeous beach - there is Shark Cove to see as well but we didn't get to it this trip. We were there for 3 days and I Wish we had spent a couple of more days there than we did so we could really enjoy the area more. Highly recommended for the family wanting to spend time together.

My husband and I had such a wonderful time here, we are definitly planning on coming back! We rented the cottage for our wedding/honeymoon in September of 2009. We actually got married on Ke Iki beach just steps from the cottage and everything was just perfect, we had so much fun. If you're planning a vacation to Oahu do consider the Ke Iki cottage- the location and the amenities are amazing and the price is more then fair. I went to college on Oahu- lived on the islands for 5 years and I've lived all over the island- southshore, winward and leeward sides and the northshore is THE place to be on Oahu- so beautiful, friendly and relaxing- it's the place where the locals go when they want a little country. The food is fantastic- must try the coconut pinaple turnovers at Ted's, the shrimp shack trucks and Teddys bigger burgers in Kailua. Of course the beaches and trails are amazing. The cottage is SO cute and cozy, very clean and well maintained. Mahalo nui loa! Leigh & Sven

What a fantastic vacation rental, we had a wonderful time. Our only complaint was that we only had three days to enjoy it, next time (and there will be a next time) we plan on staying for at least a week. It was a nice change of pace from the Waikiki scene. The beach is fantastic, only footsteps away, and the snorkeling at Shark Cove was outrageous. My favorite part was the bikes though, it was super handy to jump on the bike and motor down to Foodland or the cove to snorkel. Thanks again, cheers and warmest regards, Dan & Shaana

Ke Iki Beach Cottage

Guest: Farmer Gray (Washington)
Date of Stay: 07/20/09 Review Submitted: 08/18/09

This little house is nothing fancy, just a wonderful, clean, comfortable place to spend a week or two. It is as pictured and described; a fantastic location on the North Shore. Away from the hustle & bustle, close to great snorkeling at Sharks Cove (200 yds or so), a very beautiful beach, with a couple of bicycles to ride to supermarket (Foodland) less than a mile away. A big plus was an outdoor hot/cold shower so sand from the beach isn't tracked into the house. The owners/managers (Donna & Darryl) were wonderful, efficient, friendly. Fruit stands along the main hwy towards Turtle Bay Resort -good golfing at resort. Ted's Bakery for exceptional pastries and good breakfasts/lunches. Gas grill available for bbq'ing a favorite meal. Restaurants for any taste are within easy drive. Good pizza in Haleiwa. (Pizza Bob's) Lots of water activities in area to try -- surf, snorkel, kayak, paddle boards. Polynesian Cultural Center about 15 -20 minutes drive. We would recommend this cottage to anyone wishing a laid back vacation spot. We plan on returning!

A very big mahalo to Donna and Darryl for providing us with the most wonderful cottage for our winter trip. The facilities and accomodation are exceptional and exactly what we were looking for. The cottage is in a perfect location right next to the main North Shore Surf Breaks, Foodland and wonderful wildlife at Shark's Cove (in the winter you can see whales!). We had the freedom and comfort as if we were in our own home on a quiet neighbourly estate, the addition of bikes was an added bonus especially with the quality of the bike track opposite. I can't recommend this place enough and Donna and Darryl were most helpful and managed our booking to a very high standard with great communication. We look forward to returning in the near future!

The KeiIki Beach House was the perfect getaway for my family! We have an infant and were looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful for our one week stay on Oahu. It was nice to have all of the necessary amenities such as laundry, kitchen, outdoor shower and a lawn with tables and chairs to relax outside. There were also 'bonus' amenities for the baby such as a playpen, chair and bike seat. It was also nice to be able to walk/ bike to the grocerys store and nearby beaches. Thanks Donna and Darryl for a great relaxing time!

Just spent a week at Ke Iki Cottage it was the perfect place to stay. The cottage was very clean, comfortable and cozzy, it was home-away-from-home. The location was just great, we walked to Foodland/Starbucks, Sharks Cove and the beach just behind the cottage. It's a short drive to Haleiwa Town and Turtle Bay Resort. We went to Waimea Bay Beach where we swam with the sea turtles and enjoyed the beautiful coast line. We've stayed in Waikiki many times before but after a week in the peaceful laid-back North Shore there is no reason for us to stay or even visit Waikiki. We had such a great time we're planning on another trip to the North Shore and staying at Ke Iki Cottage in the near future. Thanks Donna and Darryl for a wonderful cottage.

What a lovely little getaway this is. I grew up on the island and surrently live in CA. It is refreshing to know that there are still places like this one, tht have kept it's integrity. As more and more people flock to Hawaii it is my hope that the Kama aina's will move to protect and restore places of heritage. I remember a time not too terrible long ago when little home like this wonderul cottage dotted this side of the island. Thank you for the accomodations the stirring of old memories and for aplce to hide form it all. Will be back... Razelle Perkins

Congratulations, you made it! With very little effort you will be refocused, recharged and rejuvinated by this wonderful slice of paradise. This was our first trip to the North SHore but certainly not our last. For those aught up on the other side of the island they don't know what they are missin. For us it was water and sun sun and water, incredible food truck food, impromptu hula girl blessinga t a race at Sunset Beach. Sunrises and Sunsets, collecting shells with our 4 year old and feeling like a kid again. Watching our dear friends wed on Ke iki Beachand he spirits move them. Some advice... don't return e-mails or check voice mail. Talk to Darryl who is a jewel of a guy, offers excellent advice and is know and liked all over town. Go local s in finding out about local events, the farmers market at Sunset Beach school. Talk to the girls aat SHrks cove Grill who offer anther friendley prospective on whats happening around town. Go to Ted's bakery for pie or danish. Check out Turtle Bay but enjoy the contrast you'll have by being hear instead of in a vaccum sealed resort sanatized for your protection. Go to Sunset Beach Waikiki beach really any beach at sunset and soak it all in. Haleiwa offers nice strolls and shopping, Haleiwa Joe's for dinner. This place, this cottage is a wonderful, well appointed jumping off point for all the North SHore has to offer. Donna & Darryl thank you and good luck with the new arrival in Dec. Thank you thank you thank you , this place has made us young again. Tony, Aw& trinity parascandola

The cottage was just fantastic! This was my first trip to Hawaii and we wanted to stay away from a giant hotel in order to get a good feeling for the land. This was the place to do just that. The cottage had everything that we could possibly need. Darryl & Donna were extremely helpful in answering all of our questions (even the 2nd and 3rd times around). Sharks Cove was amazing!! To have such an outstanding place to snorkel just minutes from the house was fantastic. The North Shore is very beautiful and we are looking forward to our next trip there. And without doubt we will be staying in the cottage again!!

We spent two very happy weeks in Ke iki cottage celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary (we got married on Waimea beach). We brought along our two kids this time. Your cottage was just perfect! It really is in the most ideal position with every thing close at hand. The beach is only seconds walk away which we spent most evenings sat on, watching the sun go down. Two minutes ride up the bike path we enjoyed watching 18 ft Pipeline going off, while i drove up to fredys in search of a smaller wave! We were all lucky enough to see turtles on the beach, monk seals, whales jumping out to sea and hundreds of dolphins on the west coast. We highly recommend the snorkling at Sharks cove and hanauma bay despite the rasmatazz! All in all a wonderful vacation. Thank you very much we would love to come back! I took the time to come back to this internet site to leave a positive comment after staying at the cottage, because we just had such a wonderful stay. Greg (from the bungalows) couldn't have been any nicer, and the cottage was just what we wanted. The place is affordable, but don't worry, its very, very nice. Immaculately clean and updated. Its affordable because its not ocean front, but heck, the ocean is basically in the back yard, and shark's cove is less than a 5 minute walk down the bike path. Its far enough off the main street so that its nice and quiet, and, once you're in there's little need to get in the car. A much needed break after a hectic conference in a Honolulu resort! The place was great evemn better than we had hoped from the web-site description. We had been to the northshore 13 years ago and wanted to come back. This cottage proved to be an excellent base for our exploring all around the island. Due to the big surf 15-20' we found a beautiful beach at Kahana. By shrimp or prawns at the reoadside stop east of here they are great! Our 2 weeks went fast but we had a wonderful time. Now we return to -40degrees buurr!

Very pretty little cottage, cool and peaceful. Perfect Turkey Day- Escape from the turkeys-Vacationhome. Thanksgiving buffet at Turtle Bay Resort was actually far better than we expected from a hotel. Haleiwa Joe's also very good, both times we ate there. Surf amazing, watched the pros compete in Van's 3 Crown today then it pourd rain and we saw the river break through at Waimea Bay. Guys who were bodyboarding in the surf jumped into the churning mud as if it were some sort of brown water rafting sport and turned and tossed their way out to the bay. The stray dogs like to have there iears scratched. DP

Thanks so much Darryl & Donna We ahd a great vacation, relaxing and fun. We loved the North Shore. The cottage is so cozy and nice we loved it. Our kids made friends with the kids in the house next door. They had a blast together. We toured the island but most of the tie we spent at the beach... Just beach , sun and relax. Our favorite beach of course was Waimea Bay but we also had a very wonderful time at the beach with the turtles. It was great to swim with them so close. We all hope to be back soon to the same cottage if we can. Thanks, Montse Gray This place is great. I liked everything. Thanks it was a nice place to stay in. Sincerely Andre

-Thanks Darryl & Donna- We had a great time. It was a wonderful break from the routine at home- nice beach, great snorkeling, super cottage! Beautiful sunsets and close to one of our favorite places=Waimea Beach ( The kids love the Rock)!! We'd love to come back for the winter waves --with aloha! Holis Doug Taylor Kate

I am not saying anything exciting like i'm in love with Hawaii because I live on the other side of the island. But I like this place alot cuz it s nica and close to Waimea Bay and it has nice sunsets. I am bringing a girl next time I come (wink wink). I am gong to the beach. Bye, Taylor Wadsworth

Aloha, Hawaii is such a beautiful place. I love the weather. I got stung by 2 jelly fish. This bungalow is so cute and great. I had tons of fun. The people were friendly and I love the mountains. My family and I enjoyed it here. I hope to come back. Hawaii rocks! Kari 14 year old high school student

JUST A QUICK NOTE SINCE WE WERE ONLY HERE ONE NIGHT....We had a wonderful time in both houses and voted the North Shore the best place for us on the island. The kids loved the snorkeling and spent hours and hours on the beach & in the ocean- remember Calorado is far away from the beach! Thanks again for your kindness. Love the Kerridges
