  I've stayed at #254738 twice now and was reluctant to write a review because I don't want it to get too booked, but that cat is now out of the bag and people have discovered it, and I realized it wasn't fair to Randy that I was penalizing him for how much I like the place. This is a sweet little cottage, funky and unique, with a distinctive Ocean Beach flair. It's not for people who like bright white condos and everything new and shiny, but for someone like me, who appreciates character and flavor (but who also needs comfort and cleanliness), it's perfect. I love going to the dog beach so I bring my dogs and we're only 1.5 blocks away and I end up going three times in a day. It's also great to have parking. Randy is easygoing and responsive as a host/landlord. Nice touches include a welcome message, coffee, sodas, fresh fruit, and everything useful you could want to use in the kitchen. I hope to stay here many times more in the future, so please don't book a stay when I want to be there!

  Such a cute cottage in the perfect location. A few steps to the sand. A few more steps to the happiest place on Earth - Dog Beach. I love that Ocean Beach is so dog-friendly. This cottage was clean, well-kept and had everything we needed. The kitchen is small, but functional and has everything you need to make a meal. The whole cottage is comfortable. Randy was very helpful and returned my deposit very quickly. Nice, personal touches throughout such as fresh fruit, bottles of water, little candies and cans of soda in the fridge. The bedroom is bigger than it looks in the pic. The bed was comfortable. Plenty of storage space if you're staying awhile. While I didn't make use of them this trip, additional amenities such as internet access, beach cruisers, boogie boards and laundry room. We had a great trip, enjoyed the beach, shopping on Newport Ave, watching the surfers at Sunset Cliffs and then "home" to relax. Off-street parking too! Thank you, Randy, for all you do to make your cottage so comfortable.

  My fiance and I stayed here with our dog over Memorial Day weekend and we loved it! Location is perfect - right next to the dog beach, walking distance to everything - breakfast, lunch and bars! We didn't need to ever move our car. Ocean Beach is a great little beach town with so much personality. The little bungalow is the perfect size for 2 to 4 people. There's an adorable private patio as well as the larger, shared patio next to the main house. We can't wait to go back! Thanks Randy! -Matt, Mandy and Baily

  If you're planning a vacation in San Diego and want the charm and warmth of a "home away from home" instead of the corporate sterility of a hotel room or suite you can find in any city in the world, book this hidden treasure of a cottage in Ocean Beach. It's everything the description says it is and more. The owner really knows how to "do" hospitality, from the chalkboard welcoming us with a personal message to the bowls of fruit and candy (even one of dog biscuits), to the well-equipped kitchen and all the amenities necessary for the traveler who packs only a toothbrush. Even an eclectic collection of books, CD's and DVDs. Although my husband and I spent most days during our recent week-long stay (too short!) exploring the city and its many attractions (don't miss the zoo), coming "home" each evening to our garden oasis and comfortable bed was what made our trip truly memorable. When I think of San Diego, I'll think of Brighton Beach Cottage and smile.

  My husband and I just got back from one of our best vacations ever. This OB Cottage was one of the main reasons it was so great! The place is exactly as advertised...1/2 block from the beach. It's comfortable, cozy, and has all kinds of amenities. It's nestled in amongst a wonderful garden so you have lots of privacy. The owners have done a wonderful job of making sure anything you need is there, from gourmet coffee to soap and shampoo. The cottage is much bigger than it looks in the photos. We chose not to rent a car and we were able to get to all of the places we wanted around SD either by walking or taking the local public transit. There is a bus stop just about 4 blocks away. Everything in OB is conveniently located within walking distance of the cottage including grocery stores and fantastic (and cheap!) restaurants. We are already planning our next stay here!

  We absolutely loved our stay in OB. Not only was it relaxing for the adults, but our teenage boys had a blast. This was the best vacation ever. Our boys are still talking about it! The owners are so nice and they made our time enjoyable. If you decide to come to OB- this is place to stay. We will never stay anywhere else! This place is a hidden jewel!

  The pictures of this place do not do it's charm justice. Everything was perfect. When we arrived there was a huge bowl of fresh fruit on the table. At every turn we found something else. Gourmet coffee in the fridge. Condiments and a few spices. Plenty of toilet paper and cleaning products. Big fluffy fresh towels. Firewood and kindling for the fireplace. A bowl of candy! A small chalkboard by the kitchen had a personalized note welcoming us. The place was immaculate. The beach is a mere 200 yards away, if that. Dog beach is right there. We had so much fun watching the unbridled joy of dogs racing unleashed in and out of the water. The main avenue is just 3-4 blocks away with something for everyone. Great food, good prices. We are already planning our return to this private paradise!!!

  My wife, I and our 4 and 6 year old stayed at this charming cottage for 5 nights and it worked out great. As the others mentioned, it is right up the road from a great beach and the cottage was furnished from beach towels to sun umbrella. The cottage is bigger than is looks in the photos and was plenty big for the 4 of us. Much better than a hotel! SeaWorld is only 5 minutes away. The only possible negative is Ocean Beach is under the flight path and planes start around 7:30 AM. We would stay here again! Thanks!

  Having never been to San Diego, or Ocean Beach for that matter, we weren't sure what to expect. We ended up having our best vacation ever! The cottage was clean, quaint, and romantic. The surrounding gardens made us feel like we had our own little oasis. We were only a few houses down from the beach. We utilized all the nice amenities the cottage had to offer...the grill, the bicycles, etc. Because we loved the location so much, we axed our plans to visit the larger sites like SeaWorld and the zoo. We chose to walk to the beach every day, have a cheap lunch of fish tacos, and try our hand at surfboarding. If you are looking for a "no-driving" vacation near the beach, I HIGHLY recommend this place..

  We (including our dog Elton) enjoyed a spectacular Ocean Beach weekend at this wonderful little apartment. Perfectly eccentric and extremely comfortable, this one bedroom hideaway was all that was advertised and more. We love Ocen Beach for its color and down to earth beach town feel. Our hosts could not have been more pleasant and hospitable. we arrived earlier than planned and it was not a problem. Threre everything anyone could need - surfboards, bikes, beach towels, umbrellas, etc. Even a welcome note by name was on the chalkboard when we got there. The gardens are clearly a labor of love and add to the faraway feel of the place. You can almost throw a rock to the beach from this tucked-away treasure, but it is also private and quiet, a perfect combination for a getaway. There is even a reserved parking spot, often hard to find in beach properties. We could not have felt more welcome nor enjoyed ourselves more.
