I stayed at this apartment with three college girlfriends. We are all in our fifties and like to stay in nice places. The apartment was comfortable and nicely decorated, with a fantastic outdoof garden area where we enjoyed wine and cheese on the stone table, surrounded by trees and plants. The kitchen is small, but bright and we prepared a few meals, which saved us on dining out all the time. The place was clean and the details were quality. I can't imagine a better location for experiencing Paris. It was a quick walk to trains, great restaurants and key sites like Notre Dame. Even though it is located on the first floor, right on a main street on Ile St. Louis, it was surprising quiet. The other residents of the building were very nice. And it's RIGHT across the street from a charming candy store. And, right down the street is a cute walk-up creperie window. Get the mushroom gallette!) There is one beautiful main bedroom suite that would be perfect for a couple, but I shared the room with two single beds and slept very well. If you use the sofa bed in the 3rd bedroom, ask for instructions from the owner because it doesn't open the way we were used to and it took us a while to figure it out. I felt very at home in this apartment, and when I go back to Paris ( as soon as possible!) I will try to stay here again.

We rented the apartment for a week in April. The weather cooperated and we had a wonderful time at the property. It is very centrally located in a safe and convenient location. There is a cheese shop and a market located steps away. Many restaurants as well as Notre Dame within a block from the apartment. The place was very clean and we enjoyed coming home from a day of sightseeing to a comfortable place where we could play cards or just relax. The terrace is beautiful and we were able to spend some time outside as well. The place is well furnished and stocked with towels, sheets, kitchen needs and a blow dryer. We had no complaints or concerns. We would definitely recommend this apartment.

The location and setting were perfect for our family reuniting for a week in Paris. We walked to most major venues, or took a short cab or metro. We made morning pilgrimmages for pastries then off for a day of exploration, to return to the living room for wine and conversation. Although it was cold and a little rainy, we still enjoyed the garden. Highly recommended and accommodates 6 couples comfortably.

Hi Alina I trust you are well. Just a quick note to tell you how much we enjoyed staying at your beautiful apartment and to thank you. We walked everywhere, saw much and had a lot of fun. The location is perfect. The restaurants and other shops in the area are great and the people are all friendly. It was very hot in Paris and only one night was the apartment warm. Hansel is also wonderful. Thank you again Alina! Best regards

I have a lot of experience with renting wheelchair accessible apartments in Paris, as I have been going every year for quite some time. Other apartments I've stayed in can't hold a candle to this one. This is by far the best apartment I have ever seen in Paris -- wheelchair accessible or not. The fact that this apartment works with a wheelchair is an incredible bonus. There are several aspects to the appeal of this property. First has to be location. Ile St. Louis is so central that you can get anywhere in just a short walk. Notre Dame is over a 100 ft bridge. The Marais and the Pompidou Center are a five or ten minute walk. The Louvre is 15 min. And if you want to go to other attractions, the bus is at the end of the road. Another characteristic is the apartment itself. It is large and beautiful, with three bedrooms, kitchen, living room and 2.5 bathrooms. But in addition, there is a terrace that is about twice the size of the apartment that is available exclusively to those staying at the apartment. It's like having a private park. Then there is the local area. The island is very cute and comfortable. The best ice cream store in Paris (the world?) is just down the block, as are restaurants, cafes and anything else a tourist could want. One of the oldest markets in Paris is a five minute walk away. And on days when there is no market, the fruit, cheese and butchers are top quality. With regard to wheelchair access, it's the best of any apartment I've ever found in Paris and it's a lot better than about 90% of the hotels. If you are at all agile and especially if you have someone who can help you up and down the one step at the entrance, it's easy to access. I stayed in the bedroom at the end of the apartment, which has a shower room and a toilet, as well as french doors opening onto the japanese garden section of the terrace. The shower arrangement is typical of bathtubs in Paris. If you have a shower chair, it will have to be able to work with the edge of the bathtub that is about 17.5 in or 44.5 cm above the floor. I found the transfer slightly difficult, but certainly doable. And I'm pretty un-dextrous, so if you're at all agile it's not an issue. Other points worth making are that the apartment is completely silent at night. While it's a bit more expensive than other Paris apartments, it's WELL worth it.

Alina, As we have discussed numerous times, there has to be a trust between the renter and owner of an apartment in a foreign land or even across town. This was so true in renting your Paris apartment on I'lle Saint Louis . We rented it a little over two years ago and were so impressed by the roomy space and the wonderful patio(courtyard) .The location was fabulous and a great time was had by all. We had no problems with the apartment as we are paranoid about being overseas and having problems. Your caretaker was prompt in meeting us and even though we failed to understand the code system, he promptly educated us. He was there if we needed him.Your deposit was refunded to us quickly and we had a great experience in your apartment. Recently, after renting the apartment for a second visit, we had to cancel at the last minute for a family death. You were beyond considerate and compassionate while returning the deposit and prepaid rent in full. We fully intend to rent your apartment again and have no quarrel with your fairness and desire to please your renter. And above all, we trust you. Sincerely, Chuck Chuck Jordan Mayor City of Greenville,MS

Our experience with this rental was not good. First the positive. The apartment is very well located and surrounded by many nice restaurants and shops. You are only minutes away from Notre Dame and the closest metro stop. Please be warned, however, that this apartment is not as advertised and the management of the property is very poor. While the apartment is certainly nice, it should not be described as luxurious nor romantic. The bigger issue we had was working with the owner. This property is not professionally managed and you will work directly with the owner who lives in another part of Europe. While we thought this would be an advantage we found just the opposite to be true. We arrived after dark and found no one was there to greet us, despite the fact that we had e-mailed our arrival information to the owner as well as the "manager". Thank goodness for a helpful neighbor or we would not have gained access upon our arrival. We found the apartment to be clean, but it was missing some of the basic staples that you generally find in a rental property, like toilet paper. There also was no welcome information packet and no instructions how to gain wireless internet access. You will, however, receive a four page document listing all of the things you CAN’T do. The apartment also had a bug problem which seemed to get worst by the end of the week. Again, no one to help us. The biggest issue we had came after our departure. After waiting more than five weeks, we never got our deposit back. Upon our departure we checked out with the “ property manager” who stated everything was in good order. When we returned home I contacted the owner and asked that our deposit check be returned to us. At first we were told we had broken a glass and a plate and "what were we going to do about it?". We let them know immiediately that nothing had been broken during our visit and please send our substantial deposit back. After further e-mails we were told the check was in the mail. The check never came. We finally had to incur a fee and just cancel the cashiers check. In summary, great location, not a bad apartment but know what you are getting into. In my opinion not worth the frustration.

Owner response: I am so sorry you disliked the way our property is managed. You nevertheless were very happy to accept the gift of a free extra day for your party of five persons. You also forget to mention that I rely on a very nice person in Paris who has been taking care of all my check-in and check-out for a long time. No one seems to have complaints about Hansel. My manager had to tell me about the damages your party made. That is his job. Indeed I was far away while you were staying at my apartment (I was travelling for one month in Cuba where internet is not of a very easy access) and my adorable friend Karen Was there to greet you. Concerning the security deposit check, I told you as soon as I did send it. I sent your check back, without going through the trouble of cashing it, despite the damages occured in the apartment while you and your family were visiting. As apparently you are not feeling so confortable with your conscience about what happened in the apartment, you would not believe I did send you the deposit check without cashing it. I can understand very well, as I imagine, (reading all your lovely comments) you would Never have returned the safety deposit check (were you in the same situation) without cashing the damages occured. Most sincerely. Alina

This apartment is in a great neighborhood. Five of us stayed comfortably. The location is close to Notre Dame and Metro. It was a perfect jumping off spot for touring the city. The terrace is lovely and provided a spot for relaxing after a busy day. We loved our stay in Alina's beautiful apartment. There are many amenities in the vicinity. Great place to stay!

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 1999

About the owner: I fell in love with Paris when I was 18 and came to study Law at Nanterre University. Years after, as I modeled around the world, each time I left for the airport, early in the morning, the taxi would cross the bridge from the Left Bank to the Right Bank, through the Island. Living in the Ile Saint-Louis was absolutely out of my reach then, but it always was a fantasy. The pink-grey lights of dawn, the golden illumination at night, triggered an intense sense of beauty and peace. Years after, when we found this dream place, it had been owned by the same Parisian lady, for over 50 years ( Paula received it as a wedding present from her father when she was twenty one). We fell in love with her, and her place. Needless to say it was like awakening the Sleeping Beauty. It needed to come to modern life, while preserving its original 'cachet'. It was an immense privilege and a great joy to give a second life to this rare and full of charm haven, and I must say that sharing it with our lovely guests and friends has also been a great privilege and a joy.

Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 4:
Our love for this garden, this enchanting haven, in the middle of this dream Island...Paris and love, the best combination in the world!!!!

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Whether seating in the dining-room, or in the living-room, or lying in bed, we always enjoy the serenity of the place. We read in peace and silence. When friends stop by, we seat in the garden and sip a cocktail or have tea in the afternoon while listening to Edith Piaf 'La Vie en Rose'. When we want to go to museums or shopping we just ride our bikes to the Place des Vosges or to Musée Beaubourg, or go to Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It's like two minutes from everything that represents Paris to us.
