Why the Owner Chose Paris Arrondissement 4

Our love for this garden, this enchanting haven, in the middle of this dream Island...Paris and love, the best combination in the world!!!!

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment

Whether seating in the dining-room, or in the living-room, or lying in bed, we always enjoy the serenity of the place. We read in peace and silence. When friends stop by, we seat in the garden and sip a cocktail or have tea in the afternoon while listening to Edith Piaf "La Vie en Rose". When we want to go to museums or shopping we just ride our bikes to the Place des Vosges or to Musée Beaubourg, or go to Saint-Germain-des-Prés. It's like two minutes from everything that represents Paris to us.

Owner's Map of Paris Arrondissement 4

I fell in love with Paris when I was 18 and came to study Law at Nanterre University.
Years after, as I modeled around the world, each time I left for the airport, early in the morning, the taxi would cross the bridge from the Left Bank to the Right Bank, through the Island. Living in the Ile Saint-Louis was absolutely out of my reach then, but it always was a fantasy. The pink-grey lights of dawn, the golden illumination at night, triggered an intense sense of beauty and peace.
Years after, when we found this dream place, it had been owned by the same Parisian lady, for over 50 years ( Paula received it as a wedding present from her father when she was twenty one). We fell in love with her, and her place. Needless to say it was like awakening the Sleeping Beauty. It needed to come to modern life, while preserving its original "cachet".
It was an immense privilege and a great joy to give a second life to this rare and full of charm haven, and I must say that sharing it with our lovely guests and friends has also been a great privilege and a joy.

    • We had a wonderful week at this comfortable apartment which is in an ideal location to explore such an amazing city. Alina's apartment is located a stone's throw away from the beauty and exciting activities surrounding Notre Dame and the Seine River. At the same time, it is nestled into a quiet street, providing a much-needed sanctuary from the hustle-bustle after a busy day of exploring. Every morning and on many evenings, we gathered baked goods and a variety of wines and cheeses from neighborhood shops and spent time relaxing in the picturesque private garden off of the living room. This was our first experience with renting an apartment in Paris, rather than staying in a hotel. After our experience at Alina's place, we'll definitely skip the hotel on all future Parisian excursions!

Thank you Mara for taking some of your precious time to write this lovely comment. Please come again.

    • Four sisters were out to live like Parisians and Alina's apartment exceeded all our expectations! Fantastic location, quiet street, steps away from wine shop, market, bolangerie, boucherie, and West & East Bank metros. Apartment is bigger than expected! Perfect retreat to come home to after a busy day exploring Paris. Kitchen is well stocked with everything one needs to fix a petite de'jener or gourmet meal. We used it everyday; no disappointments! And of course, the private garden courtyard was a special treat. We gathered there everyday to sample new wines and cheese, reflect on our daily adventures and of course rest our tired feet! Would I rent it again? "Absolutely!" Thank you Alina!

    • Arriving in Paris with 4 friends and entering such a beautiful home on a perfect street filled with a wine store, cheese shop, chocolate shop and charming toy store made our vacation perfect. The flat had every amenity you require including an outdoor patio area for your own private use. I highly reccommend this place - divine!~

    • The apartment provided an ideal setting and locale for a lovely visit to Paris. Our party of six was delighted with the accomodations and enjoyed a very comfortable stay there. It is so central to all the major sights and sectors of the city that we were able to walk to most of our desired destinations. It had all the conveniences, comforts, and essentials making the apartment a wonderful retreat from the sometimes hectic pace of the city streets and the narrow confines of a hotel room. I highly recommend this apartment to any one wishing to make their visit to Paris special.

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Mr. Gomez, thank you for yourlovely note. We really appreciated your visit to Paris with your lovely family. Please come again!!!

    • Our stay in this lovely apartment on the Ile Saint- Louis was arranged at the last minute following a death in our family. The owner, Alina, could not have been more thoughtful or helpful. It is a testimony to the type of experience you will have here. Everything about this apartment was ideal, (location, lay-out, clean, large garden), but the most wonderful things about it were the neighbors and local shopkeepers. We made some wonderful friends. The apartment provided us exactly what we needed - a lovely respite in the middle of a very busy city. We will definitely be back again. Thank you, Alina, for everything.

      Homeowner Response:
Dearest Linda. It was a joy to have you and your family during your visit to Paris. Making something happy out of it,despite the circumstances was a great lesson of life you gave to us. Thank you, and come back soon.

    • We stayed June 10-18, 2009. We are two couples in our 40s. We ABSOLUTELY recommend this property!!! The apartment is truly a RARE GEM right in the middle of Paris. You could not ask for a more perfect location. The private garden with large table made both breakfast and evenings special for us . . . lots of relaxation and good times after long days of sight-seeing. The apartment has everything you need and is spacious, clean, and well appointed. The location is perfect . . . step out the front door and you have quaint shopping and cafes . . a couple of short blocks and you're at the train to take you anywhere you want to go. If you plan to have meals "in" ...walk to the Monoprix or an open air market. The gourmet shops on the island (cheese, bakery, wine and butcher) are fabulous, too. The little grocery and the pharmacy on the Island are expensive, so better to walk to the Monoprix instead (Monoprix is like a Super Target in the U.S. .. groceries and household items). The owner, Alina, is gracious and nice to do business with. 5 out of 5 stars!

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Darla, What a lovely comment!!! Thank you so much for your kindness and your graciousness. Having you as guest was also a privilege to us. Come back again. All the best to you and family. Alina

    • We have stayed many places in Paris, but by far this is the best appartment in the best location in all of Paris. Not only are you in the center of Paris, but you are on perhaps the coolest little island in the world. You have a bakery almost next door, a market a minute away, some of the best ice cream in the world steps from your front door, a five minute walk to Notre Dame and you are right around the corner from the best Sushi restaurant in Paris. The appartment is huge, beautiful, and laid out perfectly. And the 1600 square foot garden is one of a kind for any appartment in Paris. My kids would relax out there many days and nights. This is the one and only place we will stay in Paris from now on.

      Homeowner Response:
Dear Eric, I hope this message finds you and your family well. You did such a lovely comment. Thank you so much. I really appreciate. Hoping you had a wonderful time in Croatia with Laura and the children. All the best. Alina

    • When it comes to describe your stay in "68 rue Saint-Louis-en-l'île"; you feel that your words and opinions wont be aible to express such a beauty. To turn words like "exeptionnal" and "beautiful" into something more; so that it could really represent this place; you shall only require authors like Dumas, Chateubriand, Balzac or Apollinaire. This oasis stands in the heart of Paris like a diamond nestling in his case of velvet and silk. It's the perfect place to let yourself wonder, just walking, in this magnificent city, trying to feel history every where. You might even here the swords of the musketeers, Napoléon: left to great cheering from his audience or the scratch of Baudelaire's pencil. Only 68 rue Saint-louis-en-l'île can make you fille this. Thanks to Paris and this apartment: a very special place.

    • We spent April in Paris and staying in this lovely apartment was a highlight of our trip! I had the pleasure of spending time with my adult daughters and 3 girlfriends to sight see and dine in France. The neighborhood is delightful and full of wonderful things to do and see! Go and enjoy! The garden was truly the place to be!
