Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1984

I am a mother, grandmother, active community member, renewable energy enthusiast, and language facilitator. I call two places home, this beautiful country on Colorado's Western Slope and the city of San Francisco where I avail myself of myriad learning opportunities.

Why the Owner Chose Paonia

This home has been our family home since 1984. My two sons are grown. My older son and his family live here in Paonia. I enjoy vacationing here to be near my darling granddaughter and long time friends. Most of the year I am in San Francisco and am looking forward to opening this sweet homestead to vacationers seeking a special location to unwind and drink deeply from the peace and quiet and beauty of these surroundings and this lovely, comfortable home.

The Unique Benefits of this Private Home on Nine Acres

The open sky with its evening alpenglow on Mount Lamborn and the milky way stretching overhead before late moonrise. The families of wild turkeys that appear at the edge where the lawn meets the bushes and tall grass. The bugling of elk who bed down at the northeast corner of the property. The hummingbirds in the summer visiting continually on the front porch. The spectacular views in every direction. The joy of being immersed in country life with the connection of internet, local public radio all at one's fingertips. The wind in the cottonwood. The distant whistle of the train. I also really enjoy solar hot showers, somehow even more delightful when I know they are gifted from the sun. (propane back up for cloudy days) The family room with its wood stove warmth in winter.

    • This ecofriendly house feels like home from the get go. This house provided absolute respite for myself and my coworkers while we were in Paonia. I wanted to spend all my free time at home listening to crickets from the hammock or baking bread in the beautiful tiled kitchen! That's not to say that Paonia itself didn't provide a plethora of fun (and delicious) diversions. You'll love it here!
