Great Cabin Rental!!

We originally had another house rented but the owner had canceled due to complications with the house. I am glad he did because we were able to rent this house instead which was cheaper and was able to fit more people. We arrived at the house excited and it exceeded our expectations. Here are some of the highlights that are still fresh in my mind. + There is a huge field once you cross the little wooden bridge. It is perfect for tossing a Frisbee or playing a soccer game. + The fire pit is large with stones all around it. Owner was nice enough to have dry twigs and chopped wood ready. We had a really great time here at night, set up about 12 chairs all around the fire and had smores. Can't beat that. + The night sky up there was crystal clear. Looking up at the stars with binoculars was great. We spotted several satellites and meteors. + The back deck is perfect for grilling and the 2 long tables were enough for our large group. + The owner has a Netflix subscription with a Roku box. Hundreds of movies selections, great for late night movies. + WiFi also available at the house which was very handy for those who had to stay in touch with the busy world. + The Sauna was a hit with our group. It was used at least once by each person in our group. + There is a nearby mountain trail that leads to the top of Windham mountain. This was a great experience for me. The view from the top is breathtaking but the entire hike will take you at least 4 1/2 hours. - When we arrived, the Hammock that can be seen in the picture was not attached. Not sure if it was broken or not. - The nearby garbage dump charges $10 for 5 bags of household trash. If you have cans, bottles, and plastics, I suggest you keep them separate from the beginning because you will have to dig through and separate them at the dump. - The canoe was unavailable to us as it appeared to be broken. Overall, I would give the house a 10 and would recommend it to anyone.

Charming Cabin

Very spacious, charming cabin, minutes away from the mountain. We had 13 guests and the cabin had plenty of space and everyone had a wonderful time. I highly recommend the cabin and will be going back.

Great log cabin !!!!

My family and I decided last munute to go skiing at Windham during the February school break. While searching for lodging we came across this cabin. We generally stay in condos or hotels when we go away but decided to change things up. I called Steve to inquire about the rates and availability. Due to the short notice, 2 days before we were going to leave, Steve was more than helpful and understanding with getting him the contract last minute and assisting with getting my pay-pal account set up. He also went out of the way to get the cleaning service in there quickly after the previous renters since the days we selected were not being rented and the cleaning company wasn't scheduled till a couple of days later. When we arrived, our first thought was that the pictures on the web site did not do it justice. The main floor has a nice open layout with a wood burning stove. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The loft area was spacious and the beds and bedding supplied were comfortable. The kids especially loved the room above the bedrooms. You have to climb a wooden ladder to get up there. There were only 4 of us but there was plenty of room for more. Steve was also helpful with answering questions about some of the negative reviews on this site. As far as the leak comment is concerned the only thing that leaked was the shower head in the second floor bathroom. You can't hear the drip so it's not an issue. Steve was also very responsive to the phone call I made during our stay so I'm not sure what the complaint was about him not responding to phone calls. Although this area is somewhat of a residential area, the cabin is burried behind huge hemlock trees which gives you the feeling of being secluded. It took us no more than 4 minutes to ge to the Windhan entrance and 3 minutes to the center of town. The only negative thing I can come up with is unfortunately previous renters (their children) had this need to write on the beautifull knotty pine walls in the bedroom above the loft. This place is truly a diamond in the rough. Totally recommend it for the winter. I'll let you know about the summer because we have plans on going then also. Thanks Steve you have a great place. Had second thoughts about posting this becuase we didn't want anyone else to know about it.

Nice Cabin, Poor Customer Service

The cabin itself is very nice. As one of the other reviewers noted, there is a leak from the upstairs bathroom through the ceiling to the first floor. We had read the review and knew to expect it so we were prepared. The disappointing part is that I have had no luck getting my deposit back, despite several repeated attempts to contact the owner over the past two+ months. I would recommend avoiding the hassle and staying somewhere else.

Bad maintenance, extremely disappointing.

Nice cabin, BUT: first day, water from the upstairs bath came leaking through the ceiling. Owner did not bother return phone call. Second day, returned home with 8 kids including a newborn to a house without water or electricity. Turns out the owner had neglected to pay his bills, and that the electricity would be back "probably within 24 hours". In the first call, the owner agreed to a complete refund, but later reneged and refused to reimburse the deposit, claiming that we should have spent the night in the house without water and electricity. Surprisingly, he based the claim on the fact that "in previous cases people had stayed the night". So turns out it is not the first time. He ultimately refused to take responsibility for the problem. Very disappointing, very dishonest, very unprofessional. Moral of the story: plenty of other places in the Catskills to go. Try them instead.

What a wonderful log home in such a peaceful setting! It has a spacious homey atmosphere. I just love the grounds, the pond, and the stream. The best part is that, although totally secluded, it is close to the town of Windham and the ski area. Looking foward to coming again.

A gorgeous piece of property and great location! This unique rental may make you forget about making the short trip to town or to the slopes. The spacious deck, in addition to a front and back porch, is perfect for outdoor dinning or to just relax and enjoy the fresh Catskill air. The pond and stream are great bonus you don’t often find when renting; I’m bringing my fishing pole next time. The cabin itself is very spacious and as stated will sleep 10+ people. We cannot wait to go back!

The cabin is a wonderful, peaceful oasis. It has all the comforts of home. The sound of the running stream, the pond, footbridge all make up this charming setting. The town of Windham is lovely also.

Your cabin in the woods is wonderful. It is a place to relax and enjoy nature. The pond is wonderful for famlies whith children, and the stream is great for people who like to fish. Thank you so much for having me, I really enjoyed seeing everyone, and your place.
