One of the best of the 56 units in Kauai's best condo – over 2,000 square feet of completely private space, including an enclosed solarium entry that many neighboring top floor units lack. You can see the Bali Hai coast, the sunsets, and the endless sea, from virtually every room in the condo, including the kitchen. A spacious, private, sun-washed lanai fronts the unit. The sunsets, surfers, migrating humpback whales, and daily rainbows are simply amazing, and you get them all.
This unique penthouse unit sits on an ocean bluff and overlooks a stunning, world famous panorama, from 1000-foot waterfalls cascading down the Bali Hai mountains to the south, to the secluded Hideaways Beach and reef below you, to the waves crashing on the rocks of the Queen’s Bath to the north. This view is unparalleled and only a couple of units in the complex have it like this. This is the largest and best-furnished unit with that view.
Trade winds float through the condo providing natural cooling, and every major room has a silent ceiling fan and 10 to 18 foot ceilings with recessed lighting on dimmers. The unit is bright, with windows in every room. The living room is topped with a high clerestory washing the room with light and providing an extra sense of spaciousness and climate regulation available only in the penthouse units. The solarium (not all penthouse units have one) is always bright even during the occasional rain squalls Kauai is famous for. You enter into this welcoming solarium, in contrast to neighboring units where you enter onto an open deck.
The bathrooms feature premium fixtures with detachable showerheads, deluxe one-piece toilets, Hawaiian koa wood cabinetry and rich granite countertops and trim. The master bath features an oversize walk-in shower with two showerheads and a glass block wall toward the sea, so you can even see the sparkling sea from your shower. The master bath also has two sinks and a deep, full-length whirlpool bath. The second bathroom is large and includes a concealed washer and dryer in an annexed closet. The unit is provided with a surplus of bath towels and beach towels for the ocean & pool.
The master bedroom features an ocean view, a king bed with a custom carved tropical headboard, plenty of closet space, and a television and DVD player. The room can be made more private by closing accordion shutters to the solarium if desired.
The kitchen is newly remodeled in granite and Hawaiian koa wood cabinetry and new appliances, and provides through-the-door ice and water from the refrigerator. It is fully equipped with utensils, pots and pans, dinner flatware, dishes and glassware. The dining room adjoins the kitchen counter, affording both casual counter eating and a more formal koa wood dining table and chairs.
The living room and solarium are luxuriously furnished with upholstered rattan furniture, antique Chinese cabinets and lamps, a personal stereo, and a large, fully cable-connected high-definition flat screen television with Blue Ray DVD player. The unit is also provided with a variety of music CDs, movie DVDs, popular books, board games and jigsaw puzzles. The walls are hung with original artwork by Arius Hopman and others. Large folding shutters toward the lanai can be closed to limit sun exposure if needed.
The large, fully furnished lanai is oriented to the WNW with wing walls on either side. Since this is a penthouse unit, there is no one above you, which affords complete privacy. Because the condo complex is constructed of concrete, you also will not hear your neighbors through the walls. The lanai has a BBQ, multiple chaises, exterior lighting and an umbrella-covered glass table, giving you an unsurpassed dining view.
A mobile telephone in the dining room, plus regular wired phones in the master bedroom and second bedroom, provide unlimited free long distance service within the U.S. DSL high-speed internet access and 802.11N secured Wi-Fi wireless access is available throughout all rooms and the lanai.

We have stayed in many different resort areas in Hawaii, and we like Princeville best of all. It is quiet and green and has fewer tourists. With its jungle-covered mountains, 1000-foot waterfalls, great beaches, and superb golf, this is as close to heaven as we have found in the Hawaiian Islands!

No two sunsets are the same and all are uniquely spectacular. The stars at night are incredible. Even the rain is wonderful, warm and cleansing. The entire condo is bright and spacious, yet totally private. Every major room has views of the sea, breaching whales, sunsets, passing rain squalls, and sailboats... This is a great spot to relax and enjoy everything the islands have to offer.

My wife and I work in the Northern California area. We have two grown children and have vacationed in Hawaii every year for the past two decades. We purchased this unit in July 2009 and look forward to welcoming guests to our "home away from home" on Kauai.
