All linens are provided.
The 66 acre property affords visitors opportunities for biking highways and back roads (and nearby rails-to-trails bike trails), hiking our trails through prairies, woodlands and hills, as well as birding and star-gazing the wide-open evening skies.

Seasonal art tours, The Stockholm Art Fair and other activities abound throughout The Mississippi Valley region along and near Lake Pepin.
Massage and energy therapy sessions, life direction coaching, individually-tailored retreats, couples and other retreats, a Japanese Soaking tub & shower spa area are all available on site in our new EarthSky Body/Mind Center.

Spent an entirely peaceful week here with my children, age 13 and 16. Just enough space for each of us to have some privacy. Loved the setting! We swam in the Rush River, rode bicycles, took pretty walks. Watched deer step through the front yard, heard Whippoorwills in the evening, saw Eagles, bonded with Sophia the kitty. Gorgeous scenery. Found amazing restaurants - especially the Harbor View in Pepin and the Smiling Pelican bakery in Maiden Rock. Even my son indulged in the jetted tub. Nice attention to detail in the cottage. Great selection of books and movies. Had fun exploring surrounding small towns. We will definitely be returning.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: It was great to have you here. Spending a full week helps you settle in and really experience the lovely things about our area. Hope you come again! Charlene and John

My husband and I decided to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary by booking a weekend in the cottage at Journey Inn, and it couldn't have been more perfect! The cottage was cozy and beautiful and we instantly felt relaxed and peaceful upon our arrival. Charlene and John were wonderful hosts, giving us excellent recommendations for dinner and even bringing over a basket of DVD's for us to hunker down with. On day two of our stay Charlene gave my husband and I the most wonderful massages in the cottage. There's nothing like waking up surrounded by a beautiful landscape, having morning coffee, and then having excellent massages all in the comfort of the cottage! It was a wonderful way to take time out from our busy lives to celebrate each other, and we're planning on making it a yearly tradition! Thank you Charlene and John for creating such a lovely getaway!! On our fourth visit to the Journey Inn, we stayed in the Cottage for a long, quiet weekend. The wood burning stove kept the cottage warm and toasty as we enjoyed the gorgeous view of the snow and trees. The kitchen is well stocked for those of us who love to cook, and we enjoyed a relaxing weekend of reading, cooking, and taking long walks. The bed was very comfortable, with luxurious sheets, blankets and duvet to snuggle into both for a good night sleep and an afternoon nap. Everything was clean and comfortable. Charlene and John are gracious, kind hosts who are always helpful in making recommendations or answering questions. We look forward our next visit!Owner response: It has been great to meet the wonderful people that find their way here. Charlene

Paradise in the country. My wife and I have stayed at Journey Inn on several occassions and always return home feeling refreshed and rejuvinated. We enjoy the quiet, the beautiful accomadations, the delicious food, the comfy bed. We can always count on a good night's sleep. The grounds are amazing: paths through the woods, open fields, a labarynth and eagles overhead. We plan on returning in the future, often. Thank you John and Charlene for creating this wonderful space.Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

The countryside is beautiful, serene and calling you to relax. The cottage itself could not have been more inviting with all the windows and open floor plan - comfy bed, guest spa tub, a cooki delight kitchen and soothing sound of crackling wood in the wood stove. Thank you for a much needed weekend away. And thank you, John & Charlene for your great hospitality. Thank you for allowing our best friend "Paolo" (their dog) to join us on this journey.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We are leaving after 3 glorious days at this beautiful, peaceful place. We did some biking and hiking, but mostly relaxed and talked and absorbed the beauty of the place. We are thankful that this place is here and grateful for Charlene's gracious hospitality.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Abt the cottage: The couch is a double futon. Arms chairs in the living room are wicker. BEDS: futons, not spring mattresses. There are no comfortable spots to sit, lay down, relax. Good kitchen, excellent jacuzzi, spacious. It is not really secluded.Owner response: Following receiving this review we changed our description to clearly state that we have futon beds in the Cottage. Furnishing the cottage with futon beds (and wicker chairs) was done intentionally as a healthier alternative to conventional box spring mattresses. While the cottage is situated in a remote, private setting, it is near Journey Inn, an eco-retreat (our 4-bedroom b&b).

About the owner: Creating Journey Inn & the Cottage at Journey Inn were a dream of ours. We have created a relaxing space where you can connect with your self, loved ones and the natural world. John is a psychologist & personal coach, and Charlene is a massage & energy therapy practitioner.
Why the Owner Chose Maiden Rock:
We moved from Minneapolis and bought The Cottage and surrounding acreage to build Journey Inn, an eco-retreat, a 'green' bed and breakfast. The Cottage was on the property, and we lived there while building the B & B. We now live in the B&B and rent the Cottage to people who want a quiet, private get-away experience.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The Cottage has dark night skies, a beautiful, quiet natural environment, and is adjacent to a hilly Wisconsin State Natural area. It is a short drive to artistically active small Mississippi River towns, and only one hour from St. Paul, MN.
