Featured in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, SF Chronicle, Sonoma Index Tribune, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma and Pendleton Woolen Mills catalogs, this antique, post and beam timber frame barn has been transported to California's enchanting Sonoma wine country from the east coast. Originally built in 1840, this solid oak and hemlock barn has been completely restored and transformed into a warm and welcoming home. A video is available on Pottery Barn website-under Videos-"Where I Live"

Relaxed yet sophisticated in style, the property pays tribute to America's vernacular barn heritage with its rustic and expansive 30 foot high great room, exposed barn wood, light filled cupola, wide plank flooring, 10 foot wide door and window openings, and wood burning fireplace. A 30 foot tall aluminum silo houses the spiral staircase to the 600 square foot master bedroom and library loft. Open kitchen, with fully integrated built in appliances, stone countertops, farm sink, Viking range and 9 x 4 foot island. Two bedrooms and baths with king size beds in both. The spacious master bedroom and loft is open to below, while the smaller downstairs guest bedroom has sliding barn doors for privacy.

Light filled, historic, and filled with character, this environmentally sensitive structure utilizes solar panels, radiant heat, and natural ventilation. Built with structurally insulated panels, the 8 and 10 inch walls maintain constant temperatures throughout the summer and winter months. With western vineyard and pasture views, once inside you are engulfed in the historic, agrarian roots of the structure set amongst a magnificent 150 year old oak tree. Enjoy seasonable herbs and vegetables in the garden, as well as the cooling Carneros summer breezes.

Situated on 3 acres, the home is located just 45 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, and 10 minutes south of the historic Sonoma plaza. The area is eclectic and filled with wineries such as Tin Barn, MacRostie, Larsen Family Winery, wine warehouses, bottling plants, antique importers, glass blowers, tabletop outlets, etc. A welcome package awaits you with gift certificates for these unique locations, most within walking distance. The southern Sonoma, Carneros wine region is perfectly situated for wine tasting and tours of both Napa and Sonoma counties, as well as easy shopping or dining among Sonoma's award winning restaurants. Enjoy!

Private pilots: Skypark airport, a privately owned, day use only airport is nearby and transportation is available should you wish to fly in and fly out!

'Our' barn!!!

Guest: Sonoma Barn Lover!! (Scottsdale AZ)
Date of Stay: 11/17/11 Review Submitted: 11/27/11

We loved our stay at the barn! This is really an amazing place and for 3 architects and a structural engineer, we couldn't have been more impressed with the barn and grounds. It has a wonderful warm and homey atmosphere without feeling like you're invading someone else's space. Accommodations were really great and everything we needed was provided and more. The only problem is that our stay was too short (our fault, of course)!!! We would love to do an extended stay here and will definitely recommend this to our family and friends!

Perfect Wine Country Vacation

Guest: Couple on Anniversary (Atlanta, Georgia)
Date of Stay: 10/24/11 Review Submitted: 11/06/11

My husband and I, along with friends, stayed in the 'Barn'' for a week while visiting the wine country. This beautiful house is perfect for two couples, with each bedroom having a comfortable king sized bed and its own bath. The house is beautifully furnished and comfortable, and we enjoyed cooking in the huge chef quality kitchen almost every night (enjoying fresh greens and tomatoes from the garden). The location just outside Sonoma was very convenient for visiting either Sonoma or Napa valleys. We loved this place and hope to return soon!

Owner response:Lisa-Thank you so very much for taking the time to offer this kind review. I appreciate your comments-coming from a fellow designer-it means a lot to me! Glad you had a good time, and I do hope you will consider coming back again soon!

Lovin' the Barn!

Guest: Dawny (North Carolina)
Date of Stay: 10/17/10 Review Submitted: 10/27/10

My husband and I just spent a wonderful week at Barbara's restored barn! We were with another couple and the accommodations were perfect!!!! Gorgeous decor and comfortable furnishings. The kitchen is great and fully equipped, so we took full advantage of it by cooking up a storm!!! The property is beautiful and in a great location and is extremely quiet and private. The bedrooms and bathrooms were beautifully appointed...lovely linens and very comfortable beds! Barbara has taken great care to provide anything you would need and was just a phone call away if we had any questions or problems. I would recommend this property to anyone staying in wine country.

Owner response:So glad you all enjoyed your visit here in the Sonoma Valley. You were a delight to have as guests and I appreciate your positive feedback! Please do come back whenever you need a wine country fix. It is indeed a very special property, and one I was happy to share with you.
