Welcome to The Wrens' Nest! This fabulous, new, Contemporary Craftsman home sits on Cataloochee mountain at 4300 feet, yet is easily accessible to everything!. The view is spectacular in every season, and the house itself is stunning. We have the best of everything and offer the house for rent to those vacationers who are looking for a truly luxurious home! Some features include: vaulted wood ceilings, soaring fireplace, 2 decks & a covered porch, open living-living-kitchen area, separate game/TV room, 4 bedrooms plus a bonus 'dorm' room, 4 full baths, beautiful walnut floors, hot tub, optional high speed wireless connection, and more!
The Wrens' Nest is located 1.5 miles from the Cataloochee ski area and ranch, 2 miles from Ghost Town, 5 miles from the Maggie Valley Club, 7 miles from the Skyline Drive, 10 miles from Lake Junaluska and Waynesville, and 15 miles from Cherokee. Day trips to Asheville, Nantahala rafting, Highlands, and other charming spots are easy, but you will love it here so much that you won't stray very far!
House Details: The Wrens' Nest is a new, luxurious, contemporary home with top quality construction, furnishings, appliances, bedding, and location. It is a perfect vacation home for those individuals who want the very best and are willing to care for it. The house is built on two levels, with the main living spaces on the upper level. We have a flat driveway and you enter the house on the second (main) level, so you don't have to negotiate stairs or a steep driveway with your groceries and luggage. On this level are the living-dining-kitchen area, bar, office, master suite, main deck, 'screenless' porch, powder bath with shower, laundry/mud room, grilling deck and double garage.
The living - dining area is furnished with comfortable but quality materials and is designed for relaxation and conversation. The centerpiece of the room is the wood burning fireplace with raised hearth and 20 foot high stone face. A down sofa and several comfortable chairs will draw you to the fire, the view, or a good book!
The bar with beverage refrigerator and storage for glasses and mugs will make drink prep very convenient.The dining area is fitted with a table which is set up to seat 6 and expands to accommodate 10! Additional seating for 4 is available at the huge granite island.
The open galley kitchen is a delight to work in. It has a built in refrigerator with paneled doors, 6 burner gas cook top, regular oven, convection-microwave oven, and a very quiet dishwasher. The 12 foot x 5 foot island and tall pantry cabinets provide plenty of storage for food and cooking supplies..
Just off the kitchen is a delightful coverech porch, open to the views on two sides. Unscreened, since we have no bugs at this elevation, you will love the comfy rockers and picnic table for four as you watch humming birds and feel the mountain breezes.
The master bedroom opens to the deck and the hot tub just outside. It has a king poster bed, dresser, 48' wall mounted HD TV, DVD player, and lounge chair. You will love our remote controlled window shades, which can be lowered for darkness or raised into the windows and door without any loss of view! The master bath has heated floors, wall mounted TV, double vanity, soaking tub, and separate walk in shower. A walk in closet and toilet room complete the suite.
On the front of the house is a spacious office with built in desk and seating for three. We have an optional high speed wireless card, so feel free to bring your lap top and get a little work done in beautiful surroundings.
Truly magnificent long range mountain views are seen from every room!
On the lower level you will find a large TV room with reclining sofa and chairs, game table with seating for 6, and a wet bar with under counter refrigerator, sink, and old fashioned popcorn maker. Also, we have a long covered deck with fabulous mountain views, three bedrooms, and two baths.
The 'junior master' suite features a king bed and private bath with large walk in shower and double vanities. The queen bedroom and 'bear room' share a full bath with two vanities. The 'bear room' is a kid's delight, featuring two double beds.
For those of you staying in summer, spring, or fall, you will love the unheated bonus room over the garage. Outfitted with three single beds and plenty of space for lounging, it is a perfect getaway for the teens in your group!
Some additional features of the house include: 4 televisions with Direct TV service; 2 DVD players; sound system with speakers in the living area, porch, and main deck; optional wireless network card ; completely equipped kitchen; top quality bed and bath linens, separate grilling deck with large Webber gas grill, enclosed double garage with openers, and a security system.

"Wow!" were the first words out of everyone's mouth as we entered the Wren's Nest! And the wows just kept coming! This was a perfect meeting spot for our family coming from Atlanta to meet our friends from Knoxville for a weekend of skiing. The home far exceeded our expectations in location, amenities, cleanliness and comfort, and attention to detail. Location: It's in a beautiful location just 2 miles up the mountain (straight up) from Maggie Valley, NC and just 2 miles (further up the mountain) to the Cataloochee Ski Center. The views are breathtaking and can be seen from almost every room in the house, and then walk out on one of the three porches....incredible. Thank goodness for clear roads. Snow or ice would definitely require chains! Amenities: The kitchen is well-stocked with the high quality pots and pans. There was laundry detergent available to wash ski clothes in the LG Steamer Washer. There was a comprehensive spice drawer available for a pinch of this or that and a cabinet with some essentials such as cooking oils, salt & pepper, and some other items. I joked that I needed to take a picture of one of the well-stocked and organized drawers so that I would be able to see what I was missing from my own home. Judy thought of everything and has made it available to her renters. Cleanliness and Comfort: The home was immaculately clean and the beds were heavenly. The linens were such high quality! After a long day of skiing, we enjoyed the hot tub which was pristine and was already at the perfect temperature awaiting our arrival. The furnishings were comfortable and high quality. You will not want to miss the recliners in front of the 55" HDTV! Attention to Detail: Every detail was thought of! Judy was wonderful to work with and provided detailed information and instructions prior to arrival and left an entire binder of information, brochures, and recommendations for us at the home. I told Judy that while we enjoyed the skiing, we found ourselves wanting more time at the Wren's Nest. It's so much more than a rental property. We were welcomed guests! We'll be back for another visit as soon as we can!Owner response: I am so very happy that Elizabeth and her family enjoyed their stay at The Wrens' Nest. Having been in the vacation rental business (beach rentals in Florida) for many years, I am well aware that vacationers greatly appreciate a quality home that is pretty, comfortable, and well equipped. We want our renters to enjoy the mountains and all that is available to do in Western North Carolina, but we realize that the accommodations are just as important, if not more so, than attractions in making a vacation memorable. We think all of you will appreciate the amenities, views, and comforts of our mountain nest.

My time at The Wren's Nest could not have been better! The web site is complete, accurate and precisely describes what I found. The house is fabulous--beautifully appointed with incredibly comfortable beds including the pillows. Everything was absolutely immaculate. The views from the decks are exquisite and, even when I was there in the late summer, very breezy and comfortable. I was perfectly content to plop myself in a comfortable chair on the deck and read. That worked well except that the location has many nice sites to visit and places to eat. Black Mountain and Waynesville are both interesting with super restaurants. The Cataloochee Ranch is a fun place to eat and very near by--right up the mountain. The owner is great to deal with--very accommodating and source of many ideas for making the visit totally interesting and enjoyable. Also invites ideas about what can make the property more delightful. I could not think of one thing to offer! I have visited in the summer and returned in the fall. I highly suggest either--Go and stay as long as you can!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The Wren's Nest is beautifully furnished and is in pristine condition. It offers both privacy and total comfort for its guests. While skiing and horseback riding are close by, golfing at the Maggie Valley Golf Club was my favorite activity this fall season. However, sipping wine on the Wren's deck overlooking perhaps the most beautiful mountain range view in North Carolina was hard to beat! This impeccable mountain home is also conveniently located to Asheville and surrounding towns. While we were there during the fall, enjoying the brilliant colors during the day and a crackling fire at night, I can imagine that the Wren's Nest would be the perfect place for a mountain retreat any time of the year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Without doubt, this property has to be the best rental we have ever stayed in. The house is very beautiful and has top of the line appliances and other amenities - truly a luxury home. The kitchen was spectacular and had everything we needed. The house itself is quite big & our group of 9 had plenty of space of spread out. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very beautiful, comfortable and clean. The best part though had to be the views - driving around in the area, we felt that the views from the huge deck were probably the best we saw! We loved staying here so much, that we spent an entire day at the house just enjoying it, instead of going anywhere outside. I would love to return again someday. I would also like to mention that it was great working with Judy. Thanks for sharing your wonderful home with us.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The Wren's Nest is an amazing home with high end furnishings and amenities. We spent a fantastic week at the Wren's Nest driving 2 miles to the ski lift where our whole family learned to ski including our 3 and 5 year olds! The house is close to restaurants and shopping - however, with the gourmet kitchen provided we opted to make meals each night eating together at the large dining table overlooking the most amazing view in the Smokies! My wife enjoyed watching tv as she took hot baths and I enjoyed getting into the hot tub under the stars after a long day of skiing. The kids had plenty of room and were downstairs watching tv and playing in the large area downstairs. We all sat out in the evening to watch the sunset on the beautiful deck filled with rocking chairs. The house is laid out well and has all the conveniences of home and more. We highly recommend anyone going to this wonderful retreat.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.
