Our Bluestone Lodge was formally a bed and breakfast. Built in the early 80's, it is a combination of log cabin and lodge.
We purchased Bluestone in 2000 as a family compound, plenty of room for family, and plenty of places to go for quiet or solitude. When we first drove up, the views sold us! The Lodge is positioned with Southeastern views on one side and South to Southwestern views on the other. The absolute best of both worlds. From the decks you look down over Valle Crucis Conference Center. Late some evenings the sound of bagpipes drift up the valley! The views start with Grandfather Mountain to Hanging Rock, Sugar and Beech, Blackjack Mountain, then the long range views into Tennessee. You are surrounded by the cool canopy of hardwoods, making the day even more enjoyable.
Please do not feed the wildlife (except the birds!) In the early morning or late evening have your camera ready for the brood of turkeys, or a doe and her fawn, walking past towards the valley. The Yellow Finch, Hummingbirds and Cardinals will also brighten your day as they partake from the numerous feeders.
Bluestone Lodge is our second home. It is rustic and very homey. It is not the Ritz! If you are looking for a pillow-top mattress and mints on your pillows, please come visit us in Florida! This is the first time we have offered our home for use. Nieces and nephews have gone to college, family moved away (my daughter just moved to Anchorage!) and our Lodge is going unused. It is too nice and comfortable a place to relax and enjoy - not to use. So we have decided to share with others. I know you will enjoy Bluestone as much as we do!!
Just Relax, the mountains take care of the rest!

I searched for a private mountain rental, and this won me over. The property is well kept with great views of the nearby mountains and into the valley. The setting is extremely private and wooded, so you really feel like you are on vacation. A quick ride down the mountain brings you to a community park where you can play or fish in the clear running river. While there were many other properties available, I believe we found a much more private setting at Bluestone lodge. My family and friends want to go back as soon as we can. There is more than enough space to spread out, as well as gather in the great room. 5/5 stars for sure! The hot tub and grill were also ready to go, which added to the fun.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We will always remember and cherish our family stay at The Bluestone Lodge during the week of Thanksgiving 2010. We couldn't have made a better choice. Each of us had plenty of privacy for our sleeping quarters and beautiful views all around. We enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit where we roasted hot dogs and marshmellows. The longer we stayed the more we fell in love with the lodge! We met around the amazing kitchen table every morning. We ate, played games, and planned our day. We found that the location was great with lots of things to do close by. We all hiked Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls and went Zip Lining at Scream Time Zip Line. We also had fun shopping at the Mast General Store in town. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone! I have wonderful dreams of going back to this beautiful place in Valle Crucis!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My family and I recently spent five glorious days at this lodge in Valle Crucis and it was beyond our wildest dreams!!!! The views are awesome and the entire home is situated high on a ridge overlooking the mountains to the West.....which means the sunsets are fantastic!!! There are multiple bedrooms, each with a private bath, and the cabin has lots of privacy for all! The most impressive room was the Master Suite, called the "Treehouse". It was aptly named, as it is nestled on the third floor, high in the trees, with windows all around and two HUGE skylights for great views of the stars....and of course, we had a full moon while we were there! We hope to return many years to come!!! We stayed at Bluestone Lodge the week of August 4th through the 10th. My daughter was getting married in nearby Banner Elk at the Eagle's Nest, we had 10 people total. This is a great place, awesome veiws, lot's of wildlife, we saw 3 families of turkeys, deers galore and the owner keeps all the bird feeders full, so you get lots of hummingbirds. The views are spectacular, and the elevation keeps you above the clouds. Best thing......no bugs, not a mosquito in site, the temp was 80 during the day, and 55-60 at night. The road to the Lodge was paved all the way up, so getting here is not a problem. We loved the huge kitchen, and large great room nestled in the trees, the best room was the master bedroom/living room which is akin to a staying in a ultra modern and very comfortable tree house, the views from this room are breathtaking. Lot's of decks and a bathroom and small kitchenette in all bedrooms is the final touch, and don't forget to use the extra large hot tub while looking at the views. This is a great place for family and friends to get away from it all. Thank you Gina and Frank.........we will be coming back for our yearly family gatherings.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

If you are looking for the perfect family getaway this is the place. My whole family stayed there for 4 days and we had a blast. Close to everything yet far enough away to enjoy the quietness and beauty of the mountains. Plenty of space for everyone plus an incredible kitchen with a table big enough for the whole family. My wife and I and stayed in the "Treehouse Suite" which has windows all around and on the ceiling. You are truly sleeping in the trees. We saw deer in the morning and hummingbirds in the evening. This lodge is just minutes to the Mast General Store and very convenient to Grandfather Mtn, Linville Falls and Linville Caverns.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My family and I visited the Bluestone Lodge Octomber 14-18, 2009. There were 14 of us and we were all very impressed with the cabin. From getting up in the morning to a fire in the wood stove and having a large breakfast at the dining table that accomodated every one of us, to being able to get a good night's sleep in the comfortable beds. My family members have commented over and over again about how wonderful this cabin and grounds are. While there we had one day to enjoy Linville Falls and Caverns, one day at the Valle Crucis Country Fair, and the last day we were there it snowed late in the day. This was a treat for the children since we get very little snow in Lumberton, NC. When the snow started, the children were already in their pajamas but they just put their shoes and coats on and went out anyway. They were so excited. My nephew who is five cried the next morning because he didn't want to leave the cabin and the show which was on the trees and cars at that time. This is truly a beautiful place and the pictures on the website don't even come close to showing off it's beauty inside and out. My girls and I have always cherished times of making memories and bonding and this was truly a time to do both. We look for to visiting for years to come. Thank you for sharing this wonderful place with us as well as others.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We spent 4 wonderful nights over the Labor Day weekend. The weather was perfect. The cabin is quite spacious and wonderful if you have a large family. There is plenty of room to spread out so you don't feel crowded. It was also nice to have a bathroom for each bedroom. We enjoyed the hot tub at sunset and sitting in the rocking chairs enjoying the beautiful view. The accommodations were cozy and comfortable and we all felt right at home. We highly recommend the Virginia Creeper Trail bike ride which is only a 35-40 minute drive. We also enjoyed the Mast General store which is nearby. The guys favorite golfing was at Red Tail. We would highly recommend this rental. Great Price for this unique rambling lodge.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
Why the Owner Chose Valle Crucis:
We did not buy Bluestone Lodge as a rental. For 9 years we were using it as a family compound, up until now. With children moving, college, and parents getting older, we have decided to share with others.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
It is tremendously private, quiet and lovely. The trees surround you, the leaves cover you, and the views and sunsets are to die for. Once you stay in the Tree House suite, you will not want to leave. It is rustic, but low maintenance. The kitchen was updated this year, new appliances, cabinets, etc. We rebuilt the back porch to include a screened in porch.
