This home is set in a wooded area surrounded by beautiful trees. We visited in early November and there were still pretty fall colors. The home is very comfortable, beautifully decorated, and just great for either an all-girls getaway or for couples and families. The property is very clean and well maintained. The owner is on site in a cottage home and available on a moments notice if you have a problem, which we did not. From this property you are a very short drive to the university or to the towns of Sewanee and Monteagle and also to the University of the South campus. There is a large wrap-around porch on which you could sit for hours enjoying the scenery. There is a fire pit on the property and the owner had a fire there for us one night for us to roast hotdogs and marshmellows. So much fun. The downstairs bedrooms do require that you access them from the porch and down stairs, however, we did not find this to be an issue. The area is well lite after dark. The living area is large, with plenty of seating and a nice large flat-screen tv equipped with satelitte. I would definitely recommend this property to others.

The Hummingbird House was perfect for our family wedding at Sewanee. The large, wraparound deck with rocking chairs made it easy and fun to socialize. The owners are very nice and accommodating. If and when we have another gathering at Sewanee, we will definitely want to return to this house.

We had our annual Easter family gathering at Hummingbird House this year and we will return. The accommodations spacious, the beds comfortable, the rocking chairs alluring... we never really wanted to venture out. The kitchen is well appointed and preparing our multiple feasts was a snap. But Sewanee is only minutes away so it was easy to dine out when we wanted a break from cooking. The owners and their family could not have been more accommodating and pleasant. We recommend Hummingbird House to all who want to experience a little piece of heaven on this earth.

We had 3 couples stay together for 3 nights, and we had an outstanding time. Two of the couples had small children (all under 5 years old), and there was plenty for them to do both inside and outside of the house. The only drawback to the home was having to go outside to access the basement, but, at least, the steps to the basement were covered which kept the elements off of us. If young children had not been involved, then going outside to get to the basement would have been no problem at all. In fact, this aspect of the house would add to the privacy for different families staying together or to allow different spaces for various activities to take place. The kitchen to the home was very spacious and allowed different people to be doing several different things at once, and the covered porch all the way around the home was wonderful for socializing and enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning or an adult beverage in the evening. The final touch was the outdoor fire pit that was complete with stools, chairs, and rocking chairs and was great for roasting hot dogs or making S'mores.

Our Episcopal youth group just returned from a visit to Sewanee and a stay at the Hummingbird House. It was absolutely wonderful, plenty of space, a calm environment, lush surroundings and convenient to attractions. We slept 13 comfortably, and had plenty of room in the kitchen to make family style meals for our group. The owners were gracious and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend Hummingbird House !

We had a wonderful time at Hummingbird House and only regret that we didn't stay longer! It was child-friendly for my almost-5 year old and the porch (and swing) were great for the older of us. The pictures were accurate but not as nice as it is in Spring with flowers in bloom. The owners were accommodating and incredibly nice. The upstairs and downstairs aren't internally connected but that gave the downstairs it's own "apartment" feel which worked well as we had relatives staying with us most of the weekend.

The Hummingbird House is absolutely charming and wonderul just like the Mullin family that assisted us with our stay. We the Snazzy Scrappin Sisters rented this house for a scrapbooking weekend retreat and it was perfect. Very accommodating with plenty of room & lighting to set up downstairs as well as sleepig quarters throughout the house. We just loved it and are already planning our next retreat. Thanks Again Mullin family for sharing your beautiful home with us.

What a joy it was to stay at the Hummingbird house over the Christmas holiday - Spacious, clean, cozy! Nestled perfectly in the woods, close to Sewanee proper, it was the right place for our family get together. Wonderful, helpful owners! We highly recommend the Hummingbird House!

We stayed in Hummingbird House for Sewanee Family Weekend with 2 other families. The house is close to campus (about 3 miles)and is clean and comfortable with great porches. We had about 30 people over for a cookout one night. There is ample seating on the porches and in the house for large groups. Pretty landscaping. Casey and Anna are nice people and are very accommodating.

A+++This house is top notch...nice furniture, linens, good kitchen, quiet location, and a peaceful beautiful setting. We had a party for our daughter's birthday and this house easily accomodates a large group. The wrap around porch is so cozy and the hot tub was great. The fire pit was a special bonus for everyone. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time at the Hummingbird House and will be returning in May.
