Location is everything, and you've got it here! Located in the oldest section of Mount Pleasant, in an established neighborhood (not a subdivision). Around the corner is the Pitt Street Bridge - an old bridge (wiped out during Hurricane Hugo) converted to natural park extending out into the water - perfect for long walks, fishing, crabbing, shrimping. Benches for sitting and enjoying views of Charleston and the Intercoastal Waterway.
Two blocks away is Alhambra park, with playground and old oaks draping Spanish Moss (right across the street from the Atlantic Ocean)
Six blocks down the street are public, clay tennis courts.
About one mile down Pitt Street, you'll find fine dining (The Post House), and upscale gift shopping, and a half mile more, Shem Creek: home of shrimp boats, various restaurants along either side of the creek, kayaking rentals, etc.
Two miles east, you're at Sullivan's Island beaches. Three miles west, you're at the new (built in 2005) $15 million, 13,200 foot (2.7 miles) cable-stayed expansion bridge linking Mount Pleasant to downtown Charleston. There is a 12 foot bicycle and pedestrian lane taking you to Charleston, with benches and observations sites of Charleston's skyline. Below it, the brand new, (opened July 2009) 15-acre Memorial Waterfront Park - boasting free admission, fishing, sweet grass vendors, boardwalk, bike path, concession.
Within 5 miles radius, we have Whole Foods Natural/Organic supermarket, numerous other supermarkets, two movie theaters, plentiful shopping, plentiful beaches, a variety of restaurants ranging from pizza & burritos to gastropubs, Greek, Italian, California cuisine, and bistros. Banks and drugstores, pharmacies, bike rentals, kayak rentals, a couple of golf courses, tennis and more.

Year Purchased: 2007
Curt and I met shortly after he moved into the neighborhood, walking on Pitt Street. He bought his house, exactly one mile down the street from mine! We fell in love, and married June 2009. We decided that since his house is one house from the marsh, one block from the Pitt Street Bridge park, and in the quietest part of the neighborhood, that would be the better one to offer as a vacation rental. Curt is a home builder; I am a massage therapist/yoga teacher. We love this area so much, we're going to be here forever!
