Why the Owner Chose Matagorda
I purchased this rental because of is location, off the main highway and on Matagorda Island with a view of the Colorado River, positioned between East and West Matagorda Bays and easy access to the Gulf of Mexico via auto or boat. Winter time offers the Best of Matagorda with mild weather and plenty of hunting along with the fishing.
The Unique Benefits at this House
This is the place, with a fully loaded kitchen. We have a new gas grill located under the gazebo with lawn furniture in addition to the charcoal/wood burning smoker. It is located on a dead end street and is very quite. There is a Texas State boat ramp with a huge paved parking area, located next to the cafe, just 200 yards away.
THis part of the river turns into brine water and then fresh. Great spot for water sking.

Hello, my name is Jim Gibbons and I am a local business man, 58 years old with two sons, of which are now graduated from college and off of the payroll. My wife and I live directly across the street from this rental and know all of the local fishing guides, law enforcement and restaurant owners. Great house, well kept. Looks just like pictures and description if not better. Great location looking across the street at the Colorado River and walking distance to a great local restaurant, River Bend. Few miles from the beach and a stone's throw away from the boat launch for the avid fisherman. Definitely recommend this house for a nice coastal getaway and will be back for sure!

My family and I recently rented this wonderful home for a weekend of fishing and relaxing. We were amazed when we got there, and saw how nice the home was.. So often times vacation homes don't live up to the pictures on the website. This home,far exceeded our expectations. It is a very nice home with a very comfortable feel. Nice quiet area, close to a boat ramp for fishing or sightseeing.. The owners were great people, that made you feel comfortable.. We can't wait to go back, we highly recommend this home for anyone looking for a quiet getaway!!

We stayed here for 3 days while on vacation and couldn't be more pleased. Beds were very comfortable, house was very clean and comfortable. We had 4 adults and 3 kids and did not feel cramped at all. We are looking forward to coming back next year. Also, I do not recommend River Bend Restaurant. We ate there our last night and were very disappointed.

We stayed at this house in the summer of 2010 with our kids and it was perfectly relaxing. Everything is provided that you would need to have fabulous meals and the kids really enjoyed the board games, yard and I appreciated having some "space." Compared to other places we have stayed, this was not only spacious, but beautifully decorated and just comfortable to the body & spirit. We look forward to visiting again soon. Thank you!

First off, one word to describe this Island vacation home “WOW!!!!!’. Everything was so perfect the day we checked in. The house was super clean and is on a very quiet street. The kitchen is very modern and has everything one needs to start out your vacation right. This is such a kid friendly location and great for family get-togethers. The beach is only a couple miles away with a very nice park area. This would also make a great location for anyone who fishes within the bay. Boat ramp is about a block down the road and one street off the river. The owners, Jim and Teresa were super easy to deal with. I would highly recommend this place and plan on returning with my family this summer. The Walker family!
