After reading all the reviews, I cna't add much except to say that we have rented many VRBO rentals and this was the absolute best! The home is immaculate and so well decorated. Everything you need and more is available from the kitchen to the bath. Our dog loved their back yard (lab mix) and after an unfortunate incident of tearing their screen, Arline was so gracious. Of course, we had it fixed, but many owners would have been much more difficult to deal with. We also loved the quiet of the neighborhood and slept better in their bed than at home. We walked the neighborhood many times and everyone was friendly. We loved the proximity to Isle of Palms and Charleston was about 20 minutes away. The traffic is bothersome if you are like us and not used to it, but we persevered and know that Mt Pleasant will be better after their infrastructure is repaired. Arline keeps a wonderful black notebook with recommendations and we added to that. If you have a dog or not, be sure and visit Palmetto County Park - a wonderful dog park and great bike and walking trails. We fould many dog friendly restaurants in Mt Pleasant and Charleston - very fun to take our dog and visit with other dog owners. We can't say enought about the history, beauty and charm of the area.
Owner response:Thank you, Susan and Ken, for the great review and for being such wonderful guests. We have been blessed by great guests over the nearly three years we have made our cottage available for vacation rentals. Highway 17 is the main artery going into Charleston and the improvement project is in the last few months. It is bothersome now but when completed will greatly improve the traffic flow and road conditions going to Charleston. Palmetto County Park is about two miles down Long Point Road from the house and is a local treasure with something for everyone from water slides for the young children to the hiking trails and bike rentals/trails. Information on the park and other sites in the area is in our "black book" to help our guests learn about some local venues that are not well known. Thanks again for the review and come stay here again.

This is a wonderful home and you will be very pleased!!! The owners Arline and Jack are very helpful and go out of their way to make sure you have a nice visit. This was our first time staying here but it will not be our last. We will be back again and again. !!!!! 1mile( maybe a hair less) to IOP Connector, Same for a nice mall, lots of restaurants, approx 10min to Mt. Pleasant. Just back from a week at this wonderful cottage. We traveled with our "pup", who loved the backyard. Also a nice quiet area for daily walks. Fenced in backyard was great - and we enjoyed watching all the squirrels! Inside, there is nothing that Arline has not thought of. Kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, supplies - stocked. Outside there is a grill available for use. The cottage is beautifully decorated and I cannot stress how clean it is. We have rented many times in the area and this was by far one of the cleanest places we have stayed. We grilled a couple of nights while there. Enjoyed siting out on the patio each morning. There are neighbors close by, but it was still a quiet area. No one disturbed us. Very convenient to beaches, to Charleston and lots of restaurants, etc. We will definitely be returning to this property!! Thank you Arline for a wonderful week!

My fiance and I stayed here while doing externships at MUSC and were delighted to be able to bring our dog along. The house was clean, comfortable, well-maintained and BEAUTIFULLY decorated. It was well-stocked with everything we needed, including a fully-equipped kitchen for cooking, outdoor grill, laundry detergent, toilet paper, ect, ect, ect. Arline and Jack are a delight and were always accessible when we had questions. They returned our safety deposit promptly and even forwarded us mail after we'd left! They really went out of their way to make our stay wonderful, we couldn't have asked for more!

As I sit in my office this Monday morning following our week vacation in Charleston, I am wishing I was back in this cozy cottage in Mount Pleasant planning our day! What a wonderful little house! There is nothing that I would give less than 5 stars on. Every member of our family, including our 4 legged child, absolutely loved this home. The extras you don't expect are the "better than a hotel" towels available in the linen closet and the stocked fridge and kitchen! We utilized every nook and cranny of this home and it served us very well. We grilled on the charcoal grill, wonderful. We had many meals in the kitchen, all easy to prepare with so many amenities. And yes, we did laundry in the wonderful washer and dryer. The bedrooms were all very comfortable and the bathrooms very nice and clean! The drive to the beach was quick, the local restaurant choices are plentiful, and the distance to downtown was better than expected. I would recommend this home to families and couples alike. Especially those that travel with their pets. The backyard was wonderful for our little Maggie! Thank you Arline for everything! We will be back!! :)

Our family had a great vacation at this home. We actually lived in Mt.Pleasant prior but always seem to find ourselves back to vacation. We wanted a nice place for 2adults and 4kids. The location is great and convenient to everything. The pictures posted were accurate, what you see is what you get. The property was clean and well-maintained. The best thing was that we had everything supplied for us. Little things like condiments that you don't think about. Another great thing for us was the washer and dryer. I know your not suppose to do work while on vacation but she had all the supplies there to use freely. When I come home from vacation, I always dread having to do all that laundry. So, before I left I washed everything and didn't have that to worry about. That's huge for most mothers I think!! The neighborhood was nice and even though houses are so close it's very quiet and private. I am sure we will be back and highly recommend to anyone who wants a place like "home" to stay at while on vacation.

We are a family from Germany and we found this house over the internet. We have a very nice contact to Arline, the owner. Thank you very much! The house is very nice in size and decoration. The location is perfect for visiting Charleston and the beaches. We spent 4 nights in the house from 09/28/2010 - 10/02/2010. The pictures on this page are exactly like you see the house when you are there. Very good neighborhood with friendly neighbours! Our son (3 1/2) loved the house, too! A Home away from home! When we will revisit the Charleston area we will com back to this house! The Family from Damme, Germany

I concur with everything the other reviews have to say PLUS. Arline and Jack are exceptional renters. Arline's philosophy is simple: she really wants you to not have to worry about anything when you come to stay in their home. It's 100% true. We've stayed at other rentals at VRBO and no one can top these two. Their home really IS your home to get away to. The pictures don't do it justice. It's all this and more. It's a wonderful place to stay and enjoy. During our stay the a/c went out as well their internet (my husband is a Masters degree candidate and this is how I compromised with him to take a break and do a family vacation). Arline and Jack are very proactive and were with us 100% of the time. We made a call to them - they answered. We never went to voice mail. Arline made sure we got air conditioning back up and running ASAP (we stayed in their home 7/31 - 8/7/2010 - heat index of 105 to 115 degrees!). They are the most loving and compassionate couple we've ever met. The frig is even stocked with more than the basic condiments and seasonings for cooking. They have awesome people taking care of the house in their absence. The decor is that from which the comforts of home invite you. When you arrive it is like coming home. I can't say enough how much you'll enjoy this home on Mt. Pleasant. We brought our American Eskimo dog with us (she's 22 pounds of white fluff). The backyard is wonderful and safe and easy to maintain while you enjoy. The patio is absolutely adorable. Watching the sunrise to sunset from the sliding glass doors is something that I've seen out of the Coastal Living magazine. It's adorable. The kitchen is exceptionally well stocked. They have a lovely wine wrack on the honor system (we didn't use but was nice to know if we wanted we could enjoy). Arline even had shampoo, soap and plenty of towels for everyone. Desks in two bedrooms was above and beyond. Arline and Jack even supply a printer and desktop if you need a computer to "borrow". Consider this a piece of paradise if you are looking for a lovely place to get away to. Lots of candles to enjoy during the warm months. Beautiful fireplace. Lovely home. They're everything and more that you would hope for in a vacation. Worth it all. We WILL be back.

My husband and I and our 2 yorkies agree that we thoroughly enjoyed our month stay in SC. The home was clean and relaxing. Our 2 yorkies loved the fenced yard. Conveniently located close to shops and restaurants. The 10 mile drive to Charleston was easy and quick. Thank you, Arline for renting your home to us. We hope we can visit again!

Our vacation in this home in June of 2010 could not have been any more perfect. The photos and description of the property are accurate, but do not do it justice. We have vacationed in several rental properties over the years, and I think what sets this apart is the fact that the owners have shared a home, not just a property. The kitchen is very important to me, and I found an abundance of cooking utensils and way more than the requisite "service for 4" tableware provided by most rentals. Safety is a concern as we travel with an elderly relative, and since the power can go out during Southern storms frequently (and it did!) , there were candles, a flashlight and even a nightlight which doubles as a flashlight to make our stormy night an adventure instead of a shin-banging nighmare. The owners could not have been more accessible or helpful, and the home is cleam and well maintained. It included good guidebooks, and even dollars-off coupons to local restaurants. We intentionally stayed in Mt. Pleasant after previous trips where we stayed in Charleston, and being in a residential neighborhood was our preference. The neighbors were friendly and spoke highly of the owners (and admired our dog- what more could we ask!) Be sure to spend time on the Yorktown, walk the bridge, and spend an evening at the pier under the Mt Pleasant side of the bridge. In Charleston, spring for the $5.00 walking tour guide at the visitors center, and if you are able, spend a day walking. Sunset on the Battery is gorgeous, and the Fort Sumpter has some of the most well informed and personable NPS guides we've ever encountered. Isle of Palm Beach even has a handicapped beach wheelchair for full access to the shoreline. Our only unmet expectation was that we have adopted the hiker's creed, to leave a site better than we found it. There was no way we could improve this home.

Spent the month of March 2010 in this comfortable home. Listing description and photos are accurate. House has excellent appearance. House amenities are above average. We know. We rent widely for seven months a year. Property is clean and well maintained. Would highly recommend to friends and family. Would very much like to return to this home. Easy six mile drive to historic Charleston. Hosts are kind and more than willing to assist you during your Charleston visit. House is well stocked with information on area attractions. Any activity/place that Charleston has to offer is worth your consideration. Explore the Gullah culture which is unique to the Carolinas and Georgia low country. You'll be amazed by the uniqueness and creativity, character and kindness of its people.

We have a son, daughter in law and new granddaughter on James Island. For Thanksgiving we wanted our own place not too far. Plus I needed to pre-cook for Thanksgiving dinner at son's house.Home is in a lovely neighborhood with easy access to all types of food stores/shops.The kitchen well equipped.Everything in tip top shape. The home is cozy and comfortable. Our standard poodle became friends with the neighbor's standard poodle. Great area to take a long walk, too.

We stayed at your home on 10/3/09 to 10/9/09. Your home was very lovely it was like being at our own home. Supplied with everything anyone would need. Close to many shopping centers easy to get to and from the highways. Not far at all from Charleston. We spend a few nights just staying at the house and relaxing after a long day of sight seeing. If you like to go out for dinner there are tons of places to go. The food is wonderful and the people are helpful and nice. The neighbours on both sides of your home were so friendly , every morning I could find my husband outside talking with them. The closed in back yard / patio is a great place to have morning coffee. Loved your washer and dryer the wash is so big and works great. The wet bar was a added touch. Where did you buy your linens ? The towels my husband loved they are so thick. So I've gone on and on but to make it short now and to the point. No one would go wrong my renting your home. Thank you so much for the stay. We would love to come back again.
