Our family Christmas getaway!

Guest: Lori H.
Date of Stay: 01/20/12 Review Submitted: 02/07/12

Each year, our gift to our family is a weekend away, all of us together.... this is a great place to stay!! we found this log cabin that would accomodate all 26 of us! and the pictures on here don't even begin to do this cabin justice! this cabin is a beauty, very quiet and private! and we even had hills to do our snow tubing down, which is what the grandkids all wanted... this is everything rolled into one!! God truly led us to this cabin, and we were not disappointed at all!!! *******

Owner response: Thank you for that wonderful review. We are glad you had a good time at our cabin. We appreciate your positive response and we will keep making improvements to offer more our best to our good friends and customers. Hope to have you come back again. Thanks so much

Great time and dearly loved the spacious house

Guest: Judy

Our family had a great time and dearly loved the spacious house. This is the first time in several years that we have all been able to stay together in one house. And, each of our 5 children & spouses had their own bedroom. Since the bedrooms are so spacious the smaller grandchildren slept on cots or air mattresses in their parents rooms. The older grandkids slept on air mattresses and cots in the basement and loft. Of course, my husband and I took the master bedroom on the main floor. There would have been room for more people to sleep on cots or air mattresses in that large room but we did not need that. And, your fully stocked kitchen was unbelievable. The grandkids LOVED all the games-amazing that you would have so many. My sons, sons-in law, and grandkids dearly loved the basketball hoop. They spent a lot of time shooting basketballs. We all appreciated the air conditioning. Besides your lovely large log cabin we found so much to do in the area. 19 of us went canoeing or kayaking on the Upper Iowa River north of Decorah. I want you to know that was a FIRST for me. We Had a great time. Oh btw, we did a lot of very positive advertising your large log cabin in the area as we went to several different places and visited many people.I thank my granddaughter in Minnesota for finding it on VRBO. It is an AWESOME log cabin.

Round up the Family!

Guest: JERILYN (Iowa)
Date of Stay: 04/15/11 Review Submitted: 09/05/11

We 11 adults, one in a wheelchair, enjoyed a family reunion at this rental and we hope to return. Among the many features offered, these are the amenities our group especially appreciated: -Kitchen/Dining area configuration is ideal for many people to cook together and still not miss out on the visiting with the group. -Top-quality appliances with an extra fridge in the lower level affords ample room for storage of all the food and drink we brought and prepared. -The log cabin entrance has 3 or 4 steps , but once in the main floor level is convenient for one in a wheelchair: hardwood floor, appropriate table height, an accessible bathroom and bedroom. There is only a small threshold to bump over to get to the large balcony. The high ceilings and loud furnace sometimes made for echoing acoustics. When we had a glitch with the water, our call to the host was kindly dealt with and the problem soon resolved. Good times and a good place!

Owner response:Thank you so much for that kind review. We are glad you have a good time in our cabin. Our purpose is for you to feel like home. We will keep improving, so next time you come it will looks even better.

The Gehman Family

Guest: none (Kinross, IA)
Date of Stay: 01/02/11 Review Submitted: 01/13/11

WOW! It was beautiful! Our family numbers 20 now and we had plenty of room. We gathered for a late Christmas and the lighted tree in the great room added to the charm of the occasion. We all drooled over the large kitchen and many bathrooms. It was spotless and smelled very fresh. If I could add one feature to the cabin it would be baby gates at the stairways. We had a couple of toddling babies and the stairs were quite a challenge. We've told many people about this cabin and I hope you get many more bookings!!

Owner response:Thanks for staying with us. We are so happy that you had such a great time. We have thought about providing baby gates but it would be difficult for us to guarantee the maintenance of them. Safety is very important to us. Most families with small children already have their own baby gates that they are familiar with we suggest that they bring the gates that they are familiar with. Thank you for telling people about our cabin and we hope that you come and stay with us again soon. It was a pleasure serving you.

Great Place for Family Celebrations

Guest: cctraveler (Illinois)
Date of Stay: 12/17/10 Review Submitted: 12/29/10

Our family just spent a wonderful weekend before Christmas at this beautiful log home and we all had a great time. Since we had family members coming from Minnesota, Missouri, and Illinois for our Christmas celebration, this home was a great destination that was nicely located for all of us. The spacious living room was easily large enough for the 14 of us to talk and exchange gifts, and the many games and entertainment options on the upper and lower levels kept us busy the entire time. The kitchen is large and well-stocked with almost any utensil you might need, and there is enough seating in the main level for 30-40 people if you are hosting a very big group. The view from the large windows in the living room area was wonderful and made even more beautiful by the fresh snow. We would definitely like to return again next year, and we also discussed a possible visit in the summer so that we might enjoy the large deck and the other outdoor amenities. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful, and they returned our security deposit within days after our stay. We highly recommend this log home to any family or group that is looking for a large and secluded place for a special celebration, vacation, or retreat.

Owner response:Thanks for staying with us and for the wonderful review. We love to see people enjoy the cabin. We look forward to serving you again.

We had a very enjoyable vacation in the Log Home. Having a closenet family, it allowed us to spend quality time with our children and grandchildren. There was plenty of room for all 18 of us. Our family enjoyed the beautiful river and sandbar area for a beach. We would love to spend another family vacation here in the future and would difinetly recommend it to anyone.

Family Christmas

Guest: Joani (Ames, Iowa)
Date of Stay: 01/26/10 Review Submitted: 01/07/11

My family of 27 came from across two states to celebrate together in this home for two days. It was perfect. The house allows for great large group interactions with space for smaller gatherings, fun games, and ample bedrooms. The kitchen is very nice and the view is gorgeous… even in the snow! We pictures do not do this home justice. We would recommend the house to others, having felt very good about the communication and attention we received from the owners and cleaning staff. Thanks for an awesome setting for a great time!

Owner response:Thank you for the wonderful review. You are right; the pictures of the cabin do not do it justice. Every time I go there I am in awe myself. The cabin is so beautiful. I never want to leave. I am so happy you had a great time there. Hope you come back again soon.

My family, including my sisters, their spouses and children/their spouses and 1 granchild, plus my parents, spent a fabulous weekend at the "River". It was such a relaxing weekend, with all the ammenities of home included. Kids enjoyed the hill for snowboardeding and sledding, some of the adults enjoyed a nice senic hike in the hills, and some enjoyed the view with a scope through the endless windows. The surroundings are fabulous, and watching the deer and the wilderness all around was just beautiful. We will deffinently return.. Wonderful retreat from the hussel and bussel of home life.
