Boldly commanding a granite bluff above the sea,Groth House is a magnificent blend of the art of nature and the art of man.Built by the American sculptor,Bruno Groth and artist wife,Nita Groth,it's made of rough-hewn redwood timbers,natural stone and sheets of glass.It was Bruno and Nita's home and studio where many works of art came into "life". This is where they lived the majority of their lives with their children, David and Nina who are also artists in the area.
Heart of the house is the Great Room.Comfortable furnishings,panoramic views and expansive proportions invite convivial gatherings of family and friends.A secluded master bedroom features a private deck,dressing room w/ sunken tub and views of snowcapped peaks,rocky shoreline and miles of beaches.Groth House can be enjoyed as a world within itself,a quiet retreat with an active and ever changing world of beauty at your feet.It's private setting among the trees above Trinidad Harbor is shared by abundant wildlife.Otters and harbor seals bask and frolic,whales pass in their stately migration and sometimes shelter in the harbor below,raccoons entertain daily in return for handouts.Groth house offers beauty and comfort,sea and solitude,warmth and congeniality,excitement and exercise...something for everyone,where time stands still.A gentle trail leads to the beach below. Year Purchased: 1999
My husband and I used to come up to Trinidad to visit friends.When the opportunity came up to purchase the property,we did not hesitate. We both work long hours and are in the health service profession,so the place provides a much needed R&R,even on weekends or long holidays.
