'Sun N Snow Lodge' is located on Terry Peak, just outside of Lead, 8 miles to Deadwood and 17 miles to Sturgis or Spearfish. This cabin is cozy yet the openness of the living/dining room and kitchen provide plenty of space for your family gatherings.
If your plans are for skiing at Terry Peak you will love the location - being within walking distance of the lodge and only 10 minutes to Deer Mountain. There are three bedrooms which includes one loft bedroom, the loft and main floor have queen size beds, the lower level has two sets of sturdy bunk beds offering four extra long twin beds. For additional sleeping there are two sofa sleepers providing room for 12.
The family room downstairs is an additional space for the kids to hang out, watch some tv or play a little XBox. Sit out on the deck and enjoy the wildlife and the evening stars. The hot tub is off the lower level on a patio to provide plenty of privacy. Great family vacation lodge for the entire year. With 3 driveways, there is plenty of parking for your motorcycle, snowmobile, and ATV.
We are the perfect destination for those seeking easy access to the Terry Peak ski lodge. Our renters can move their skiers and equipment by car from our cabin to the ski resort in less than 90 seconds.
We do recommend our renter plan to use four wheel drive vehicles when visiting our cabin in the winter. The extra traction can be helpful in the northern Hills in the winter.
Geocachers can find us at N44 19.962/W103 50.731 - Elevation 6,444 ft ASL.
There are six golf courses within an hours drive. You can make this cabin your golf getaway headquarters.

We have 6 kids and having an entire room filled with bunk beds meant that we actually had a bed for each kid without having to make up a sofa bed or futon. And having a bed room that was out of the main area was also nice. My wife and I actually were able to sleep in a couple of the mornings that we were there! Our kids loved having our own hot tub right outside the back door because we could turn it down a little so it wasn't so hot. The cabin was also well stocked. We have stayed at many vacation rentals and we actually carry a storage tub full of all the things that most cabins are missing or items that are provided, but don't work very well. I'm happy to report that we hardly ever opened it up. Whether it was kitchen supplies, spices, or bathroom necessities, we always seemed to find them instead of having to go to our "stash":) The location is awesome. We loved our stay. Thank you.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

My large family of 6 kids and 6 adults very much enjoyed our stay here. It is a beautiful cabin. The size was perfect for us and we appreciated that the place was spacious yet cozy, clean, and equipped with great amenities. The cabin was well stocked with more than enough of everything-- kitchenware, paper goods, linens, etc. Communication with Mark and Peggy was pleasant and easy. They were thoughtful, clear, and organized. Thanks for a great stay at your cabin!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+.

This cabin went above and beyond our expectations! It was a somewhat central location for our family to meet for Easter, so we came from MN, CO and ND. There were 7 of us that stayed and we had more than enough room. Cabin is equipped with EVERYTHING you could need (including soap and shampoo in the showers). Lots of towels for hot tub and showers. Beds were VERY comfy. Used the grill one night for supper. Hot tub was used a lot by the kids! Directions given were easy to follow. This would be a great location in the winter if you were skiing Terry Peak. We drove into Spearfish to golf, Deadwood to walk around and to Rapid City to shop. Had supper at Lewie's (sp) one night in Lead - some of the BEST burgers ever! Owners had emailed list of area attractions, places to eat, etc - VERY much appreciated!! If we ever decide to do this again, would definitely stay here!!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Great Location for Terry Peak Ski Trip!

This nicely designed & decorated cabin worked out great for our March ski trip to Terry Peak. Our group included two families with kids ages 12, 11, 10, 6, 5, and 3. With the younger skiers in our group it was so convenient to be located close to the ski lodge. Everything was comfortable, functional and clean. I agree with the reviews that say the photos don't do it justice - it's even better in person! The split log spiral staircase and fireplace in the great room add a little "wow" factor to the property. We had enough space for everyone & the hot tub hit the spot after a day of skiing. The owners were helpful when we had questions & I would recommend this property. We had never skied Terry Peak before, but had a good experience there. If you are used to skiing in Colorado, I do recommend that you visit with Terry Peak about their ski school and rentals as it is organized a little differently and it's good to know ahead of time what to expect. Our kids had a very positive experience with the ski & snowboard instructors and loved being on the mountain. During this busy spring break weekend, I do think that renting equipment from Edge Sports down in Lead would be something to consider as there was quite a wait to get rentals on Terry Peak. Or, be sure to arrive very early on a spring break weekend to get your lift tickets/equipment rentals to beat the rush. It was very warm (not typical - I'm sure) during our stay and we skied without coats one day, but even for skiing in some slushy conditions in places, I'd say that Terry Peak takes good care of their snow. The runs are not as long as the mountains in Colorado, but there is good skiing to be had, and it's great for families. We could let our older kids snowboard on their own for awhile and not worry that they would get lost. Lewie's in Lead was a great place for burgers, and we also had a good experience with delivery from Pizza Lab (they deliver as far as the ski lodge - but it's only a minute or two from the cabin by car - so still very convenient). This is a great area for a family ski vacation!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Our family got upgraded to this beautiful cabin because the original one rented was having plumbing problems. It was beautiful, homey and very comfortable for our family of four. Thanks to the owners for offering this cabin in place of our other one. We had a great time skiing and sight seeing the Black Hills. Beautiful weather.....record high temperatures so absolutely gorgeous! Not probably the best conditions for skiing but since all of us are beginners, we still had a lot of fun! Very easy to get to......Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

This was our family's first vacation that included staying at a cabin. We were not sure what to expect and had a lot of questions for the owner. They answered all of our questions promptly either via e-mail or a phone call, and were pleasant to deal with. The cabin was incredible, the decor was fun, especially the spiral staircase. The cabin was clean and comfortable and provided a relaxing place to return after a long day of hiking or sightseeing in the area. Although the listing pictures were accurate, they don't do this cabin justice. You have to see it to believe it, you won't be disappointed. Thank-you, Mark and Peggy Shlanta for making this cabin available!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

About the owner: We have four sons who love the outdoors. We enjoy the Black Hills and think you will as well. One of our favorite things to is rock climbing. Try Sylvan Rocks, they have great guides and provide great service.
Why the Owner Chose Lead:
We love to ski, hike and sight see in the Northern Black Hills. We think you will too. Come stay at our home and start your family memories.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Skiiers our cabin is less than 60 seconds by car to the Terry Peak ski area parking lot. Provides for easy drop off and pick up of skiers and for those who choose to walk to/from the ski area it is close and simple.
Summer renters will enjoy the being far enough from the city to have a lot of quiet and personal space, but close enough to other cabins that you can meet and visit with other families while you are out for a walk. We enjoy using the various decks in the summer; a solitary cup of coffee first thing in the morning, cocktails before dinner or a night cap before retiring for the day. You will see wildlife that includes turkeys, deer, and the occasional fox.
