The Chickadees Hatch is nestled into the hillside within the woods of The Village of Cheshire, an Arts & Crafts Resort Community, where each one takes up a tiny footprint and goes vertical for space. We are conveniently located 1 mile of HWY 40 exit 64 along HWY 9 South just 16 miles from downtown Asheville and 20 from Asheville Airport, 2 hours west of Charlotte Airport.
Cheshire cabins were just completed and have all new furnishings and modern conveniences such as flat screen high def TVs and whirlpool tubs, yet old world charm defines their architectural simplicity and elegance. You will feel secluded behind old Mountain Laurels and Rhododendrons that line Tree house Trail where this cabin lies, off Chaucer Road. You can dine in with a fully supplied kitchen and both indoor and outside dining areas provided. The amenities available to resort cabin guests are limitless. The porches over look a Camp Branch creek which runs through the property. There are green spaces and playgrounds and a community garden to enjoy, as well as everything that the area has to offer with its hiking and mountain biking trails (bikes can be reserved and at your cabin waiting for you), rivers to fish, kayak, raft, and canoe (guides available for guided trips or venture with a map and equipment). If you want to just relax, our porch invites you to do so with hand hewn Amish-made Hickory rockers.
There is an inviting loft that allows you to have a bird's eye view of the surrounding white pine tree tops and bird watch for wrens, humming birds, blue jays, red cardinals, hoot and screech owls, chickadees. Black bears stroll through Cheshire parks right past the cabins along the creek at times.
The two restaurants available for dine in or take out 3 meals a day (between both). The Morning Glory Cafe (a local's place) and The Blackbird offer a selection of local, domestic and foreign beers and wines, in addition to menus filled with cuisine inspired by local frsh vegetables and organic meats- favorites and specialty pastries by a renowned pastry Chef at the Blackbird. The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
Cheshire cabins are nestled into the hillside along Camp Branch Creek. Each abode is modeled after an old cabin that burnt down in the 70's and are intrinsic with local native species of mountain laurel and rhododendron. Cheshire Village Center houses The Morning Glory Cafe open 3 meals and Black Bird, a new American Tavern offering Southern Comfort Cuisine and local brews/wines in addition to having it's own pastry chef! SanaVita offers alternative therapies, including cleansings, massage, acupuncture and more. Michelle Salon is a full service salon that offers both organic and traditional products and services (previously in Naples and LA)
Owner's Map of Black Mountain
I grew up on the land where my cabin is as a boy, and built the cabin last year. I'm a fireman/medic that decided to develop my family land in 1997 after studying new urbanism at Oxford in England. People seem to like to be in a place where you can walk to everything that you need- grocery store, restaurant, tavern, hair salon, trails, fields to walk your dog, etc. So I built my cabin where everything is easy to walk to and yet you have a secluded little slice of nature surrounding your cabin allowing you to relax and enjoy your tranquil surroundings. I love the view of Camp Branch Creek with the sound of babbling water and birds singing invites you to kick back and enjoy the elements that I have thoughtfully put together to create this very special place called Cheshire after my grandmother's family name.
