The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

Relaxing on the bluff, listening and watching the river and wildlife go by fills you with inner-peace and awe. After a day of fun, we BBQ with friends around a campfire overlooking the river. The cabin is very private and when you go down the stairs to the patio on the river's edge you are in your own little sanctuary. This section of South Platte River is renowned for its Gold Medal fishing waters. Besides fishing, we like to go tubing and kayaking, or just sit in a chair in the river with a cooler.

Bob and I have lived in this area for 30 years, and have loved every minute. We enjoy fishing, hiking and ATV's in this area we call home. Bob is retired from the Semi conductor business and car racing, and I am a homemaker who loves to cook. We love to travel, finding new and interesting off beat places.

Great getaway!

Me and my husband were looking for a spot to relax and fish for our anniversary and we fount this property on home away. The owners were very prompt responding to our request and we had it booked in no time. The area is so beautiful and the views from the cabin are spectacular! We took a drive down the road the cabin was on and it follows alongside the river with many places to fish or take pictures. The river is much larger than it looks in the pics and they have a perfect spot to sit and listen to the water. The gas grill was ready to go when we arrived and the kitchen has everything you will need. There are even some basic spices. I really enjoyed the screened in porch with a bench seat. I sat and enjoyed the view for hours. The people at the little store nearby are super friendly and helpful. I have to say that this was one of our most enjoyable vacations, the owners are so kind and helpful and the cabin is perfect! We will definitely be back! Thank you for helping make our anniversary so enjoyable.

Relaxing-Great fishing and hunting cabin

Guest: Vic (Denver)
Date of Stay: 09/23/10 Review Submitted: 09/26/10

I have been coming to Nank's Bluff ever since I came back from Iraq 3 yrs ago. A must stay for the outdoors man. So many opportunities, Nank's Bluff is centrally located on the North Fork, which has some of the best trout fishing in Colorado. The water from the confluence is gin clear and flows right in front of the cabin. I have yet to pull a fish out that was smaller then 14 inches, on my most recent trip I pulled 4 trout all 20 inches, hence the reason why I return several times a year. The rainbow are plentiful, big, very visible with or with out polarized lens and most importantly eager to bite. Be sure to visit Fly's and Ties, the local fly shop located 1/4 mile up the road. There is also a coffee shop, liquor store and small general store that can supply most of your immediate needs. This cabin is also a great hunting lodge. Only a few minutes away from the best Turkey roosting vein in ALL of Colorado. In my opinion the turkey hunting has been essentially untapped, the entrance of Rampart Range, has a lot of birds. Most people over look this area due to the motor cross activities and noise. The birds are not skittish one bit. You can practically walk within 20 yards of them with out them flying away. I have not Deer hunted the area yet, but have seen many great looking Bucks. Most importantly the cabin sits right at the water edge, great for reading a book and passing the day by with friends. I live in Denver and the Cabin is only 1 hr from my house! I recommend this place to all of my friends.

Owner response:If you like this review, Vic also left directions to his favorite fishing hole in the guest book at the cabin. Addditionally, Vic failed to mention that they bagged a turkey, great going guys.

A great cabin with all the accomodations - housewares, toiletries, bedding, satellite TV, and so much more! GREAT fishing 48 steps down on the S. Platte, the CO Trail only 20 minutes away, and "Dott's Park" only 2 minutes away. A wonderful place for family & friends to gather to truly experience this "gem" on the South Platte River! We'll be going back for sure - truly wonderful family friendly fun!
