  After traveling around Costa Rica for 6 weeks I really enjoyed my stay at Finca Sonada. The casita is set on beautiful grounds. It was nice to be able to walk around the property and enjoy the scenery, and the lovely views. The views include the lake, and 3 volcanoes. You definitely get a feeling of complete privacy. The casita is well designed and extremely comfortable. There are plenty of windows, a full kitchen, comfortable furniture and nice decor. They have a great shower with hot water. The owners have a folder of useful information for destinations and local activities. You can get taxi's to pick you up at the house and take you to Tilaron the nearby town. It's a lovely town to walk around in and get a true feel for the Tico lifestyle. There are many restaurants in the town as well as banks and grocery stores. Also there is a bus station in Tilaron from where can take buses to almost anywhere in the country. I took day trips to La Fortuna, Arenal, and an overnight trip to Manuel Antonio and La Playa de Tamarindo. As a solo female traveler I felt safe while staying at Finca Sonada and during all my excursions from there. The locals are very friendly. A cell phone is provided to all renters which is very convenient. All you have to do is pay for your own minutes. There is a local property manager, Laura, who is multilingual, extremely friendly and helpful. She can assist you with any questions that may arise. After traveling and staying at many places, I have found Finca Sonada to be the best value I experienced. The rental rate Marie and Ed have are extremely reasonable for the casita. My only complaint is the weather was quite windy and rainy while I was there. But my experience was so favorable I plan on returning again during the dry season. - A satisfied customer :)

  My husband and I really enjoyed staying at Finca Soñada, the location is breathtakingly lovely, with gorgeous views of Lake Arenal a short walk from the house and total privacy. You are really tucked away in nature there, with just the cows as your neighbors. The house is really cute and clean, with lovely furnishings. The property managers, Margie and Olman, are great. They helped us so much, and made our stay a true pleasure. The local town, Tilaran, is a great base point for exploring the area, and has all the services required, plus lots of Tico fare. We loved it, and would definitely return. Thanks Marie and Ed!

  Finca Sonada is a lovely escape. It seems very remote, but it's actually close to a major road and bus route. For a quick meal, cold beer, and wi-fi, you can just walk down the road. Lots of cows and toucans...A howler monkey lived in a nearby tree, and even though we only saw him once, we heard him every day! For beautiful views of mountains, pastures, and Lake Arenal, just take a short walk in either direction. Also, the property managers are fantastic and extraordinarily helpful. One caution: I recommend avoiding the windy season (December through March), unless you're a windsurfer, because the wind and storms can be intense. Also, because the bus schedule can be difficult and you're in a rural location, renting a car is almost necessary.

  Owner response: The weather during Jenna's and Eric's stay was unusually harsh. It is not usually this rainy or windy at this time of year. In fact, it is not even considered the rainy season in January. If only we could control the weather, we would be sure every one of our renters had only sunshine!
