Perfect week at a Pentwater Lake Michigan front house
Perfect week at a Pentwater Lake Michigan front house

This was one of the most enjoyable vacations we had, because of this wonderful house which still feels like brand new. wonderful materials and a perfect elegant taste of furniture and decors in the entire house! We had a family reunion with people coming from Germany and they couldn't stopp expressing how empressed they were. Walking in the frint door all you see is the big blue lake. The lay out of the house is done so well that you can literally see the lake in every room (including bath rooms facing the back side). The tiney little inconveniances, like not having a washer and dryer, will certainly be eliminated in the near future. But the grill works perfectly fine, never to have to worry if there is enough gas. There is all the needed "tools" in the kitchen to cook, bake, etc. We had a perfect week, wonderful clean and private beach, perfect walkways, bridges from the carparking to the house as well as from the house to the beach. The guidance from the owner, including personal walk thru and explaining of the critical "must knows", is something not to be found easily on rental places. We can't wait to be back but need to find out how to keep the crowd's away as the word travelled fast! Best regards, a german familyRecommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

My first thoughts about this home were that it is even better than the pictures show. All of the family agreed about this. It was built in such a way, that a gorgeous, full view of beautiful blue Lake Michigan greets you at every possible window. Everything is new and it is tastefully designed and decorated. The home is three stories, which in and of itself provides privacy. However, their are no window treatments, which is still fine as the location is quite private....however, if you don't want to be awaken by the pretty sunrise, you will want a pair of eye blinds. I would have liked blinds for that purpose and to get the children to bed earlier. The grill is in a great spot on the huge deck; and is directly hooked to a very large propane tank so no worries about running out mid meal. There are decks off 3rd floor bedroom, one of the 2nd floor bedrooms, and a large one off the back that can be accessed by large sliders across the back of the house. The home is on a bluff so be prepared for steps to the beach. Even with small children, it was fine by us. The deck, stairs and walk over were a pleasant walk for us. Just be prepared if you have any elderly or infants; the walk to the beach could be a challenge. I would say even though there were no blinds on bedrooms and no washer/dryer - it was FANTASTIC. We will very likely stay here next summer.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

The home is beautiful, the setting ideal, the beach was just wonderful, and the proximity to Pentwater was just right. Five sisters + 2 friends enjoyed the week immensely with plenty of quality time in an idyllic setting. A few things could make it much more enjoyable and also bring it up to the standard for the cost. Furnishings were mismatched and often of poor quality (cookware and kitchen items especially; knives very inadequate), if provided at all (e.g., no bakeware, no wine glasses, only 2 dish towels but 8 pot holders (???)). The afternoon sun is quite brutal, so window treatments would be a big plus. A washer/dryer would be very helpful as well. The real surprise, though, was the lack of technology. No cell phone reception (therefore for safety really should have a landline), no internet, no TV. We brought our own TV with DVD player so that we could watch movies on occasion. Recommend the stay, but for the cost, we were expecting a bit higher quality furnishings. Also, the beach is very dog friendly. It was torture not having our babies with us. Hoping the owners would consider a pet policy.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Wow! My family and I had a wonderful staycation at this property. It was everything we imagined it to be. The owners were very pleasant and the property is just how they described it. In my own words... It was a place of serenity for our family. There is plenty of room and things to do. The view of Lake Michigan is absolutely beautiful. We highly recommend renting this property!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

One amazing week in paradise! We had our wedding on the beach- could not have planned a more amazing day. The weather was perfect, water and sunset were breathtaking. The home is absolutely beautiful! The owners went above and beyond to meet with us and help accommodate us for our wedding. It was a long hike to the beach, but well worth it! It would be nice to have a washer/dryer there, and it was not the most kid friendly place (only b/c of stairs and terrain). It was the perfect adult group vacation spot. We highly recommend renting!! It was so great, after our wedding we had friends that drove home to Chicago-requested the rest of the week off work-and drove back to enjoy pentwaters finest!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

The property is superb. Brand new home with many luxury features. Lots of places to sleep, wonderful views of Lake Michigan, and (essentially) a private beach. The home is quality built and is absolutely beautiful. The main floor deck is perfect for evening dinners or morning coffee, and is very large. The third-floor balcony provides wonderful views of the lake and sunsets. The bathrooms and kitchen are opulent and everyone in our group had a great place to sleep. The home does lack some of the traditional items you would find in a beach rental, for example, the cooking utensils are limited (but bearable), there are no beach chairs, towels, equipment (umbrella, volleyball net). Also, there is no outdoor grill, which is really the only thing that our group truly missed. Cell phone service in the house is a little spotty for non-Verizon subscribers, but Verizon customers should have service in the house and on the decks. Most non-Verizon people were able to use their phones on the decks or the beach. One item of caution - sometimes our phones would pick up Wisconsin cell towers from across the lake, and that would throw the clock off (Pentwater is on eastern time, Wisconsin central). A couple of things we noticed that we'd wished we'd known about: Pentwater, although only about a mile away, is very quaint and has a number of shops and restaurants. It, however, does not have a large supermarket. The grocery store is small and cute, but has very minimal selection of foods. Also, there are at least 50 steps down from the house to the beach. Not a problem for most adults, but that could be problematic for groups with elderly, handicapped, or young children. (But the beach makes the trip worth it). Also, there is no TV or Internet (honestly, we preferred it that way, as a retreat, but some may expect these things). The owners are extremely flexible and helpful. We found this place, literally, the day we needed to rent it (our other plans had fallen through last minute). We called at about noon local time and the owners were willing to drive up from their home that afternoon to ready the property for our arrival in the evening. Our group was traveling from all over the country, and the owners were flexible in accepting our payment in installments over the first two days of our stay (as members of our group arrived).Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We spent 5 days at this house and it was the relaxation we needed. The house sits atop one of the highest points on the lake and provides unbelievable views. Having a private beach is perfect for relaxing and the pier is about 1.5 walk along the beach. The home does not have internet or TV (mentioned in descr), but we missed neither one. If you have a small grill bring it with you and you'll have everything you need.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: In 2012 we are adding a gas grill, it will be available by June.

This home was outstanding in every way! The accomodations were upscale and the view was fabulous! Enjoying the private stretch of Lake Michigan beach front was spectacular! The location was very convenient to the quaint village of Pentwater and many other points of interest. The property was clean and well-maintained and the owner was prompt to respond to questions via e-mail. I would highly recommend this cottage and hope to return again next year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This is a beautiful house on Lake Michigan. The views from the upper balcony are incredible. The owner was easy to work with and the house was clean and well-maintained. Although the trip to and from the beach included a lot of stairs, it was worth it. The beach was spacious and the walkways/stairs were nice. Pentwater is a great little town with nice restaurants, shops and farmer's market. Although it had a neat little grocery/deli, it did not carry a full range of groceries (i.e. yogurt).Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Rented summer 2011. A beautifully decorated, well built home. Easy access from parking, nice beach, good views. House was missing some essentials like a grill, had limited cooking supplies, beach chairs, internet, house telephone (for emergencies - had no cell phone access in the house), laundry (was disclosed but would have been nice), and lighting to/from parking and to/from beach. View from main deck is limited but upper deck provides great view of the lake. Bedrooms and baths were nice, high end kitchen appliance and granite. Ice maker included in fridge (nice). Four full baths helped. Enjoyed our stay on the lake.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for your comments. Our cell phones do work on the deck and in the house, it might depend on your provider. Glad that you enjoyed your stay. Also: In 2012 we are adding a gas grill, it will be available by June.
